Description: Welcome to Café Inglês, Silves - Algarve Probably the most charismatic place throughout the Algarve and some even say in all Portugal ... Situated in the heart of historic Silves, between the castle and IbnAl-Mutamid-Amar and a gorgeous Gothic cathedral, the Café Inglês, built by a renowned figure in the city, is housed in a striking building of oriental inspiration which refers to the final nineteenth century. Café Inglês is more than a place where you can enjoy a delicious meal or a nice drink in beautiful dining rooms or if time permits in its various terraces if you prefer. The Café Inglês is much more than that; is a warehouse of ideas, cultures where people are the key players in the music and the arts has always been our commitment, in fact held at regular quality events in various musical aspects ranging from jazz, Latin jazz, african, latin and Jam sessions that include instruments from around the world, among many others, presents new artists in painting, sculpture, photography and the decorative arts, Poetry nights that included the presence of famous names of Anglo-Saxon poetry: Simon Peter and Pagnal Hermitage, which also involved local poets. Everything happens in an informal and relaxed environment, but always classy, where the pleasure of eating is combined with entertainment and PT culture...

We've been here numouras times and every time it is the best terrace in the Algarve. Next to the church and castle it's a laid back location having the terrace under the trees that provide the neccesairy shade, since it can be hot in the burning sun.

Koffie, juices, cakes and dishes are enjoyable, however since this has become a bit of tourists hotspot prices are accordingly.

Service is efficient, but could sometimes be a bit more friendly.

The food was fine and the service attentive but lacking in warmth.
Be aware you need to pay for the view, the prices are almost the same as in the UK.
However, it is a nice stop by the castle.

Absolutely great place for food and and a fantastic time...especially on Sundays when a band plays...dancing,singing and all sorts of jolity. Stay all afternoon but best to book as it is extremely popular with locals and holiday makers alike.

Been and enjoyed Cafe Ingles many times and always enjoy Sunday lunch and the music but today had a shock when we got the bill 3.65€ for a bottle of water 11.50€ for a jug of house wine 10% for the music on the bill. Will think again before going.

We went to visit the Castle of Silves and had dinner at Cafe Ingles. We were very well received and to our surprise there was live music with very good quality - that Friday was world music and jazz. We ate shrimp curry and lamb chops with Rosemary. Dessert was Algarve's traditional sweets. We paid 65 euros with wine and coffee. We loved this place!
