This was our only excursion to Sagres during our trip to Algarve (we stayed in Lagos) in late May of 2017. Since we did not have a vehicle, a tour was our only option. We decided to take the Sunset Tour with Sagres Discovery Tours. We have mixed feelings about this tour.
The driver (Fabio) is competent and friendly. However, the vehicle is very cramped -- they tried to fit 8 people in the vehicle, and we had to sit on the bench in the back, sharing the space with 4 people (including us). This was very uncomfortable. It is understandable that the off-road driving is rough, however, I wish they did not try to squeeze so many people in the vehicle (converting the back to a row of regular seats for two people may help).
We made 3 stops: Cape St. Vincent Lighthouse, a hidden beach, and an overlook for the sunset. We did not much like the pace of the tour -- on the way, there were many nice spots overlooking the ocean and in the town of Sagres, but we did not stop and were confined in the vehicle. We had enough time at the stops we did make, but at the overlook for sunset, we arrived just minutes before the actual sunset, and I did not have time to scope out a good composition for photography.
All in all, we did have a glimpse of Sagres which is good, but I feel the tour is rather cramped and hurried. If they only take 6 people in the vehicle and had maybe 1 hour more time to make a couple of more stops, that would have been much more enjoyable.
