“The best of the Algarve”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

The immensity of the beach, the quality of water, the dunes in a distance that provide other options, proximity to bars and the good music makes this beach one of the best in the Algarve

This is the Beach in the Tourist pictures!. Great walks and scenery, maintained pathways and lighting. Recommended.

“best for a walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2012

Algarve beaches (Praia) are all large and warm with acres of golden sand. several have lots of seasonal activities but if you prefer just a beach walk, this is a particularly good one ending as it does at the cliffs. Here you find the erosion which on the sea you visit as the sea grottoes, only being on the sand you can walk through the tunnels. look up at the sky midway through and wonder just how long anyone of them will survive. Quite spectacular.

“Best beach so far!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

A beach is pretty much a beach but this is the first one that is genuinely sandy. Been on beaches in Spain, Greece, Turkey and usually have to wear shoes as I cant cope with the rocks/pebbles/broken sea shells that alot of places call 'sand'. Praia de Alvor is SAND! Lovely place characterized by the rocks at the end. Boardwalk along the full length and access points so handy for pushchairs/wheelchairs and those with mobility issues. Sunbeds can be had - 2 sunbeds with windbreaks/overhead shade and 2 drinks for 10 EUR per day. We went in the afternoon around 3.30pm so the price was reduced to 7EUR but no free drinks. We hummed and hahhed and said we'd walk further along and all of a sudden they offered us the free drinks with sunbed hire for 7EUR! The windbreaks are good and offers a little privacy for changing out of swimming costume.

“Beach with character”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 24, 2012

Beautiful sandy beach but with high sided rocks and caves and passageways. Seems to be very popular by tourists and locals. Very lively place, and seems to get busier after 4pm until sunset.
