“Great vacation, decent hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

I had a great vacation while staying at this hotel. I would rate this hotel a 3.5 rather than just a 3 if possible.

Great staff who were very friendly and accommodating. My boyfriend and I were disappointed the first day to learn that we were in the 2nd building of the resort, which is located a 10 minute walk away from the main pool and restaurant. We were disappointed as we were traveling with a large group and wanted to be in on the main action with them. Luckily the hotel staff were accommodating and able to move us to the main building the next day.

The rooms themselves were my least favorite part of the hotel. The furniture is kind of dated and not very "luxurious". The king sized bed is actually 2 twins pushed together and they come apart easily. Also the beds in both of our rooms were dreadfully hard. Very hard and uncomfortable to sleep on. Also having the two twin beds made it VERY noisy the next day when maid service started. I could hear them pushing around the beds in the rooms all morning. Very distracting and annoying.

The pool in the hotel was great. It's saltwater but very nice. Great lounge furniture and they provide beach towels every day which was a plus. There is also an outdoor bar/restaurant next to the pool that is convenient to pop in for an afternoon snack or a drink.

The restaurant was nice, great views of the beach across the way. I enjoyed our breakfast every morning. It was delicious and we always managed to get a good view. We also showed up right when breakfast was ending and they left it open for stragglers to get some good food.

The lounge upstairs was also nice. Very modern feeling. Good sushi and drinks.

Overall this was a nice hotel and I would stay here again. I wish they would get new beds and update the rooms, but overall a very pleasant experience!!!

I have recently returned from a break here with my 3 children aged 13,11 and 11.
The Tivoli Marina is in a great position on the waterfront next to a harbour and within 2 minutes walking distance of the beach and 10 minutes from the town of Praia Da Rocha and similar from Portimao itself.
We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment No. 262 which was alongside the marina toward the beach and I see a number of people have commented on the noise in this area of the hotel. There was a large temporary nightclub set up on the beach at the end of the road which runs from June to end of August and on its final night before closing, we heard some noise and at 6am a few revellers let of some fireworks when coming out of the club but other than that it was no problem to us atall and certainly didnt wake us other than on this one occassion.
Our apartment was clean, well kept and generally very good (there were a few holes in the sofa material but nothing major). There was plenty of storage space in the living area and in both bedrooms and the standard of cleaning etc throughout our stay by the hotel staff was very good.
Our air conditioning broke down on out first night but to be fair to the hotel they quickly supplied us a stand up fan for that night as they were unable to move us due to the hotel being full and then it was quickly repaired the following day..........these things happen!
The pool area is very good with plenty of sunbeds for the number of guests meaning no mad early morning rush to get a place although there were a few odd tiles missing in the pool and a few of the patio type slabs around the pool also had clearly come loose. It is a shame as these were small things that could and should have been easily fixed and would have improved the feel of the quality of the hotel.
We stayed B&B and the buffet breakfast we all found to be very good. We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening (BBQ) and the food overall was pretty good although drinks are pretty expensive at all the hotel bars. It is worth also watching this in local restaraunts in the area as we found drink prices varied massively!!
Overall, I would say this is a nice hotel that I would definately consider going back to. There are some fairly simple things that the hotel could (and should do) to improve it further but it has alot of positives going for it aswell.

Excellent hotel with excellent facilities. Friendly and helpfull staff. Buffet is average but for a small premium one can enjoy fine food in the Aqua Lounge. Rooms are comfortable and spacious but if your room is situated close to the beach and bars you will NOT enjoy a good nights' sleep. Till 4-5 AM there is a lot of noise coming people on the street. The other parts of the hotel, especially the north part, is a lot more quite.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the central or north part of the hotel. Not in the part close to the beach and ba...

We stayed for a week in August and were very happy with the hotel. Our room was very near the pool and dining area, and most importantly away from the noisy end of the street where the nightclub is. So even with the windows open we still had very quiet nights. The room was ok, I think the cleaning could have been better though. Our youngest is always crawling and he always ended up with his knees and his clothes dirty after just a few minutes on the floor.
The best part of the hotel is that is very close to the beach, you just take a little walk and that's it. The pool area is nice as well, they have a little playground for kids as well as a little swimming pool. And I thought the whole staff was very children friendly, very attentive to their needs and giving them special attention.

Great location. Right beside restaurants, beach and marina. 10-15 min walk along the beach to the main strip. Super staff and great swimming pool area. Especially good for families with young children. Not a big resort so quite quiet during the day. I have read reviews about it being noisy at night but I have to say that we never noticed. I thought it was a little pricey but really enjoyed myself there.

Room Tip: We had a room over looking the marina on the opposite side to the bars which is why we probably neve...

Myself, my mother and two sisters arrived on Friday morning 16/08/2013 at about 11am. Room was not ready which we had expected. There was a very angry guest at reception and a very disappointed guest complaining about the location of their apartments only to be told they could be moved. One man was telling the manager the location and noise levels at night as "murder". I'll talk about that later. So needless to say this wasn't a very good first impression - I got a bad feeling from the offset. We came back at 2pm to check if room was ready. Fabio at reception was not very helpful - he just wouldn't make eye contact and I had to ask twice if he had any luck finding out if room was ready. They just ignore you unless you are forthright and ask them the question loudly - I soon came to realise you would be left there standing if you didn't ask again!

Eventually we were given our key cards and map showing location of our apartment - we couldn't be any further away from the main hotel. Luckily they do provide a golf buggy to transfer you to and from your apartment which was very helpful in the heat. Please also note some of these apartments are privately owed and most of these have the best location and views.

The apartment was very spacious and clean - we couldn't fault it. There is a nice selection of bars, restaurants and even a hair & beauty salon nearby. But we found out there was a music festival on with its main stage directly across from our apartment. The music started at about 11pm and finished at 6am that morning - "murder"! The other guest described it perfectly. Young people were then on the street outside roaring and shouting for another hour. We did complain the next morning and we were offered to be moved but seeing as we were only there for 3 nights we told them we wouldn't bother but we were going out to buy earplugs! The same thing happened for the next 3 nights but thankfully the earplugs did help. I just think it should have been brought to our attention - other guests had young children trying to sleep - Im sure the parents would have been more stressed after their holiday than relaxed.

Sunday was my birthday and a bottle of champagne and cake arrived from housekeeping - nice touch!

We ordered the buggy to pick us up at 7am for our flight. My last memory of the place is seeing three men obviously still intoxicated from the night before urinating outside our apartment. I don't think we'll be back

One last thing - we had pre-booked private airport transfer €135 - the "Tivoli Experience" and even though I phoned the night before and emailed twice our car never came to pick us up on Monday morning. It had to be ordered again. We were not pleased but fair play to the driver John who did eventually collect us - it was his day off and he was in bed when he got the call so thank you to him!

Overall not the best stay I've ever had. Time to re-train staff and be a bit more honest when advertising your hotel!

Room Tip: Don't pick Room 278 when a music festival is on!

Spent a week in Tivoli Marina Portimao end of July, beginning of August. Was the nicest hotel we've stayed in for a sun holiday like this. Gorgeous breakfast in the mornings, lunch was always delicious and the bar area is really fancy. Lovely pool area with big sunloungers and umbrellas. Staff were always so nice and eager to help with anything you needed. Location and area was excellent. Will definitely return here.

Room Tip: This is a resort and some room blocks are located further down towards the marina. I rang the week b...
