“rustic style”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Years ago it was public knowlege that the only place to have a really typical grilled chicken must be in the Monchique and the place to go was A Rampa. Today you have other places but if you want a typical place that is definately unchanged over the years and works to the rule: "simple but good" you will find here the Cicken Piri Piri that made the Monchique famous for this meal. On top you get a fabulous view over the coast line. This is basic but if you want that this is your place.

“Great view”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

When the weather is good,it's great to sit outside and the view is spectacular. When it's cold or wet, then you have to sit inside and no view and no atmosphere. The chicken is very good and Paula, the server, is lovely.

“Great chicken piri piri”
Reviewed March 1, 2014

Great views from terrace, but not today :(
Had 2 portions of chicken piri piri between 3 people, which was plenty we did have some extra piri piri sauce(looked home-made) which was fantastic. It came with chips (actual, real chips, hand cut, not some frozen uniform muck) & a nice salad.
With beers and bread/sardine pate cover it came to 27 euros not bad for a place with a premium view.

“great chicken piri-piri”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

We ordered chicken piri-piri for the 6 of us and the girl serving us said it would be too much and that 4 servings would be enough as we had to kids with us. She was right and I really appreciated that. One doesn't see that happening very often in restaurants these days so I left a nice tip! The chicken piri-piri was delicious too!

“Piri-piri chicken that's worth travelling for!”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

We have eaten here several times - it is our restaurant of choice if we fancy piri-piri chicken
the restaurant out of peak season is nothing special to look at - there is an outside terrace with stunning views, but when it is colder you are forced inside to a typical Portuguese café interior - but don't worry about that - the food will more than make up for it!
Huge portions of chicken which is full of meat and flavour - succulent and so different to the many piri-piri chicken restaurants around which purport to be experts in this and then serve pigeon sized chicken pieces. The chicken here is excellent, chips and salad in abundance and the piri-piri is hot without being overwhelming.
Puddings are also worth exploring here - just check the cabinet and choose whatever takes your fancy!
About 7.50 Euros for a main course - excellent value for the size of portion and flavour.
The best piri-piri chicken in the Algarve!
