I cannot at all agree with the previous reviews. My husband and I stayed 1 night at this place and this was exactly 1 night too long. We saw the reviews here and checked the website. Great pictures, but the reality is totally different. However I have to admit that you can take great pictures there: with the right angle and if you don't go to close...
When we arrived, we were greeted by John, the owner and offered a beer or coffee. Nice gesture, but while he was showing us the map, his sweat dropped all over the map. Disgusting.
They left for a barbecue with friends after they had shown us the room. Strange smell but we thought a bit of fresh air would do it. Not really as the smell came out of the toilet or basins as there was also no real door between bedroom and bathroom. We deciced to stay for just 1 night. But then late in the evening, the bed suddenly felt wet and we saw that rain came through the roof! Later John and his wife/girlfriend came back from the barbecue. We explained that we can't stay in this room and they gave us the cottage then. They prepared it for us, apologized etc. But: They were totally drunk and I just don't want to get touched and talked to by a drunken and smelling host. Sorry, that was too much. The cottage was a bit better than the room before. But at 1 o'clock in the morning, I woke up because it rained through that roof, too! As the electricity/cables was in a bad state, too, we couldn't really sleep - just afraid of the whole thing burning down...In the morning we couldn't say good-bye as our hosts were not awake at 9.30 and did not react at all. So we left some money - not that it was worth it - and left for good. Please don't trust the pics on their website. It's really awful there.

Want to get away from it all and crave some silence away from the rat race of life then look no further. Couldn't wished for a more peaceful location and the hosts Jon & Pauline are beyond hospitable - they make sure you're at ease. I hadn't recognised what silence was for a long time until it was pointed out to me by Jon who took me to the terrace when I arrived and just asked me to listen. I have not been a good sleeper for some time now but the two nights I spent here helped me rediscover a good nights rest.
Need to get away from it all? Perfect.....

I have to agree with the two previous reviews....this is a little paradise away from the usual image of the Algarve. We arrived to be greeted by Jon..and the dogs and the cat, and led straight to the bar for a drink. After a casual chat Jon went off to finish the chores and we took the dogs off for a walk (or did they take us?).
We chose the self catering studio which was fine and allowed us to cook meals for ourselves (Jon did a BBQ the first night which was great). Everytime we opened the door the dogs would be waiting outside looking hopeful...but sadly with so much to see and do within an hours drive we had very little time to explore the surrounding hills.
The nearby limestone outcrop of Rocha de Pena is a must for a walk..but take plenty of water and some good binoculars.
Quinta do Coracao is ideal for a relaxing holiday but don't expect luxury...just peace and quiet.
It is also at least 15 mins drive north of Loule, the last 2 kms on a dirt track.

We booked the cottage at the Quinta do Coracao and spent a long weekend in September there. It's about a 30-40 min drive from the airport at Faro and located about 2km up a dirt road (absolutely fine, we made it easily in a little Clio hire car, but not sure a Smart car would make it etc). We arrived to a warm welcome from Jon and Pauline and although we were much earlier than anticipated, they were very accomodating.

The vibe of the Quinta is very relaxed. The accomodation and whole place are clean, well kept and clearly dearly loved. Let's be clear, it's very rustic and the facilities are basic (no phone/tv etc) but that is exactly the reason I went. If you're a golfer looking for somewhere off the beaten track, it's probably not for you!

We had everything we needed - Cooking facilities, fridge, kettle etc. The bed was comfortable and general facilities are all fine.

We took up the offer of a cooked dinner on the night we arrived and the food was fantastic. Fresh, home cooked and local ingredients and superb value too.

The scenery is beautiful, the night sky is incredible, the whole place just feels great. I loved it. My wife (who is a little keener on 5* hotels than rustic charm) also really enjoyed it, but it's not for those of you who want luxuries and pillows everywhere.

Jon and Pauline are superb hosts, unintrusive, approachable and genuinely great people. It's like staying at a friend of a friends house if that makes sense?

To sum up, If you're looking for an inexpensive, charming, clean, scenic, and ultimately beautiful place to be, you'll love it. I'd go back in a flash. For those of you who take 3 suitcases for a week away and expect a concierge, I don't think you'd like it much!!

Quinta do Coracao is in a very beautiful part of the Algarve. The first thing that struck me about the place was the beautiful floral smell. It really is very rustic, very natural and very close to nature. It is the perfect place to go walking or to sit in the bar, relax and have a beer. It feels a million miles away from the beaches which, in fact, are only half an hour or so drive away.

The accommodation is in Portuguese style, built with natural materials. There is a cottage with an open fireplace amongst other rooms. There is also a bar, outdoor terrace and swimming pool.

The owners are very friendly and welcoming and as well as serving breakfast, other meals can be arranged if required.

This accommodation would suit someone who wants to get away from it all and be in the midst of nature.
