We had an excellent stay at Casa Amarela. The house is very spacious, beautiful, clean and quiet. It is located in a nice area with other huge beautiful houses. You definitely need a car, because there is no public transportation nearby. The bedrooms were big and the kitchen very well equipped. It had even two fridges and two dishwashers. There were plenty of dishes and pots etc.
The patio was nice with a big heated pool. There is also a big table outside. We did not eat outside in the evenings, because it was pretty chilly. But there is a nice dining area inside! We bought fresh fish from the Lagos fish market and prepared it in the grill. Absolutely delicious!
Lagos center is a short drive from the house like many other places. There are also supermarkets within a short drive. Also many beaches were nearby, although the water is not warm in June! (at least not this year;) We liked the Porto de Mos beach especially. It wasn't that far from the villa.
So everything worked really well from the booking to the end of the trip! I can highly recommend this place:)
We stayed in Casa Amarela for 14 nights at the very end of May until the 13th June 2018. Myself, my fiancé, my 23 month old son, Mother and Mother and Father-in-law. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the greatest weather, grey clouds and rain mostly but we were told this was very unusual for this time of year.
We had PLENTY of room. The rooms were spacious, and the en-suite bathrooms were lovely. The Master Suite was lovely, this has a very large bathroom with a large shower and separate jacuzzi, walk in wardrobe, and a beautiful balcony. The travel cot provided was a little smaller than the one we have at home but it did its job and the highchair provided was good. Sheets were changed once during our visit and the towels were replace 4 times.
The kitchen was very well stocked, we always had everything we needed to cook a nice meal. There was a utility room with a washer and dryer which came in handy and a freezer. There was a larger American fridge in the kitchen. We shopped at the Intermarche which had everything you needed. There were also an Aldi and Lidl close by, but they didn’t have a very wide range of items.
The lounge was very comfortable, English TV and DVD player. There were some DVDs, books and games provided.
The whole place had electric shutters over the windows which made it very secure. Aircon throughout, not that we needed it :o(
There is a coal BBQ outside (although my fiancé and Father-in-law would have preferred a gas BBQ for convenience! Tut! Lol). The infinity pool was gorgeous, we paid to have this heated and it was a lovely temperature, again we didn’t use this as much as we could have because it was a bit too chilly outside. A fence was provided around the pool which made things so much easier with my son. We didn’t have to worry about him playing outside. This was a great bonus! (Tiny annoying thing about the pool is if you leave toys or inflatables in there they fall over the edge into the small moat around the edge, but they are easily rescued). There is a small grass area behind the pool. Sunbeds are provided with cushions and there is a large umbrella. There are 3 awnings outside providing lots of shade if needed.
We ate out several times. There are two restaurants, Campimar and António’s which are a 10-minute drive away. We ate at Campimar several times, the menu is mostly fish but they do pizzas and omelets etc. (The prawn curry is gorgeous). They also do cocktails which were lovely. Staff were very friendly and on a good day the Sunset in AMAZING!
There is a Zoo a 15-minute drive away, this was a very fun day out, my son LOVED it, a Marine Park and a Waterpark both within a 30 minute drive. We skipped the water park as it was too chilly but we went to Zoo Marine and it was a fantastic day. They have Dolphins, Sealions, Seals, birds etc. We saw all the shows and they were great fun. They also have a beach, plenty of sunbeds, a large pool and a children’s small pool with slides etc. You could easily have a couple of days there in nice weather and not get bored. Entry was 29 euros for adults and you could buy a ticket for 8 euros to return within 10 days which was a great deal.
All in all we had a wonderful time here and have already booked to return next year.
I'm not a Millionaire but for the last two weeks my family and myself have felt like it !!
A big thank you to the owners of this fabulous Palace for letting us and I'm sure many others enjoy it's delights . Many words have already been written about it's layout and amenities , suffice to say we couldn't fault if . SUPERB !!!
Wonderful villa -everything we had hoped for. Whilst there were 10 of us (all adults) there was plenty of space. Would have no hesitation in recommending the villa or indeed in renting it again.
