During our stay in Lagos, we enjoyed a couple of trips with Days of Adventure. Based around the marina, their bright orange branding is highly visible.
Probably the highlight for us was the GROTTO TOUR, which at €10 a piece was an absolute bargain. Our guide, Pedro, a cross between Rip Torn and Richard Dreyfus, was extremely knowledgeable, funny, and an excellent boatman, safely steering our little boat around, and through, many grottos whilst pausing to provide sufficient time for those all-important photo opportunities. Pedro's commentary was fantastic, and he is a credit to his profession. Our small boat carried 12 persons on the trip, just the right amount to enable everyone to have a great view. The trip took just over 90 minutes.
Encouraged by the grotto tour, we enquired at one of their stands around the marina regarding the DOLPHIN TRIP. When we mentioned that we'd been on the grotto tour, we were offered a €10 discount, thus costing €40 for the pair of us. Nice one, thanks! Although the dolphin trip was less 'personable', and certainly would've benefitted from a commentary of some sort whilst we were travelling to/from the dolphins, it was splendid when we reached the dolphin rendezvous point. (Our guide did explain before we set off that dolphins are not guaranteed - they are wild animals after all!- but that they had a number of pilot boats out to locate the dolphins, and they would radio us their position, thus increasing the probability of a good sighting). We met the dolphins, with the boat crew taking care to 'encourage' the dolphins without causing them any distress, and it was truly magical to see them racing alongside our boat. This tour took just under 2 hours in total, as the dolphins are some way out. The dolphin tour is provided by a big boat, so no turbulence from the tide!
I really cannot recommend these tours enough - no trip to Lagos would be complete without them.
