just returned from a 3 night stay and was most impressed with the apartment complex. Our apartment was HUGE as we were only 2 people and even though i had booked a 2-bedroom one it was much bigger than anticipated, especially at €109 per night. I thought it was great value. The common areas, pool, footpaths etc were spotless and there was an abundance of sunloungers, umbrellas etc. Overall I would definately recommend it and I will be back

Sorry it took a year to write about this, but have only just registered - although have been a long time user of the site.
Myself and my wife (mid 30's) -no kids, stayed here September last year for 1 week.
We absolutely loved the whole holiday, as it was everything we were after.
The complex was small, uncrowded, quiet and friendly. Not massive with music blaring, and 400 kids running amok! - have nothing against kids BTW, we just wanted somewhere to relax, read a book, drink a few beers and enjoy the sun - we got it.
I could have a lie in til lunchtime, and still wander down to the pool (there are 2 - one in each block) and pick up a couple of sunbeds. No towel dash, or booked up beds, which really annoys the hell outta me!
We ate lunch a few days and the grub was quite good.
The appartments were very spacious, with a good kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a living room with small balcony. There was a TV with a few English chanels for the news.
There are a couple of minimarts nearby to stock up on essentials.
The resort of Lagos, is lovely, pretty much untouched old town, with narrow cobbled streets, though it has a brand new modern marina. Its a downhill walk to town, but not as bad as some resorts that we have been at, we walked in and out every day - sometimes twice.
There are numerous beachs and coves dotted round the area, some of these can be walked to within 10 mins. The other larger ones can be accessed by the free hotel shuttle bus - which also goes to town twice a day.
All in All - We loved it - so much so that I am thinking of going back in a weeks time If i can get the availability.
You want relaxation in the sun - this is for you, You want pool games karaoke and mad booze cruises..........look elsewhere!

We are a family of five which includes 3 boys aged 6, 10 and 14. We stayed at Vilabranca for 2 weeks in August and we couldn't fault the place. Reception staff are very helpful and pleasant. There is a lovely bar and restaurant on site, also 2 pools, both with kiddies sections. Very few people put their towels out at 7.00am so there were always plenty of empty sun loungers right through the day. The apartments are very spacious. We had a 2 bedroomed one and both bedrooms are a good size. One bedroom had an en suite in addition to the main bathroom. The town of Lagos is beautiful and quaint and lovely to stroll around at night. The apartments are about 20 minutes walk, downhill, but a taxi was €3.40 home (and they always took the 5 of us). Lagos has beautiful beaches and we had a car so we were able to cover a lot of territory. If I had to critisize anything it would be the guy who comes in weekly to do the Karoke. His mother forgot to tell him he couldn't sing!!

Stayed here in August 2008. Expected it to be an awful lot busier but it didn't feel like peak season at all - we never had a problem getting a sunbed at the pool. If anything, it's a little quiet for children - they really need to make their own fun. Apartment and complex both very clean and spacious. It's a 15-20 minute walk into Lagos on uneven cobbled-like footpaths so wear comfortable shoes - it's not easy getting a taxi into the town in early evening. No problem going home and I would definitely recommend it as it's a steep hill.
Try the Penguin restaurant across the road - it's very good value and the food was excellent.

  • Liked — Spacious apartment
  • Disliked — inflated prices at poolside bar eg ice creams

I have just returned from a two-week holiday in the Algarve - one week in a hotel and one week in Vilabranca apartments, which I booked solely on the advice here. I was bitterly disappointed - what was all the fuss about?? I paid more for the apartments than a five-star. The apartments were clean, but the maid service only occurs twice a week. Therefore, we were continually running out of toilet paper and the unemptied rubbish bins meant a trail of ants in the kitchen. The bed spreads were about 50 years old, and were mismatched. The quality of the soap and shampoo provided were dire. There are about a million Irish adverts for buying the apartments, and I really am starting to believe that all the reviews here were left by the owners of the apartments to increase their revenue as the resort is VERY average for the price, let alone #1 for Lagos. But if you want to listen to the Irish talking about the best pint of Guinness in the area and relishing in the cheapness of the cost of Jameson around the pool, then stay here.

  • Liked — Balcony
  • Disliked — Children continually feeding the one internet terminal with euro coins to play games for hours on end, when we needed to book our onwards journey.

We had a great holiday 2 adults and child aged 12.

I will agree with all other posts this is excellent accomadation and the staff are very helpful.

Lagos is a quiet resort comparted to the other resorts in the Algarve . The layout of the apts is great ourapt was 2 storey high. All vacilities in kitchen plus a coffee maker every thing was spotless. Towels changed 2-3 time a week apts cleaned every day except for 1 day must be day off, if you needed towels changed there was never a prob. The ladies that cleaned the aprts were very very helpful. Air com in living room and bedroom indiv controlled with handset only used it on 2 nites and then had to turn it off during nite as it was too cold. The nites were pretty cool you would need a hoodie/caridigan/jumper. We stayed there from the 10th Aug 08 for 2 weeks. Never had a problem with getting sunbeds and an umbrella for shade any time of the day which was great. There are 2 pool areas and childrens pool.. Pool we used was salt water and was very cold at first be brave lovely after that. Also people around pool area who are sun bathing have to be respected, so there is no trick acting etc . Kids can play and have fun.

Entertainment is ok. 3 nites a week. To get to the main centre of Lagos its about 15 mins walk Make sure you get the free maps available everywhere. You will not walk after a meal at nite as its uphill taxi about 4 euro and there is only one place you can get a taxi but there are always loads. it is an unspoilt area a lot of portugesse and spanish holiday there.

Where to eat Dom Luis excellent

Will post more

Just arrived back from two weeks in Vilabranca nothing new to say everybody of the same opinion that the place is great and the staff are wonderful. I have to say that Joe in the bar made our holiday for us, we arrived at 9.50pm and were greeted by Joe in the resturant he looked at us and knew we were just of the plane, told us to sit down and introduced himself to our 8 year old daughter and that is when our holiday began.

My only fault with the place is there entertainment the Karaoke was awful to the extent is was embarrassing.

There is plenty to do around the Algrave and the reception staff are very willing to help with any trips. We hired a car for three days with "daily rental" and found them one of the cheapest and friendliest to deal with.

I would recommend anyone with children aged 8 and over to go swimming with dolphins in zoo marine it costs about €145 but it is worth every penny of it.(must book at least two months in advance peak season).

Great holiday looking forward to going back.

Joe if you read this Kate says "Hi"
