As a regular visitor to Western Algarve, I have to say the accommodation at the Marina Club (Suite Hotel) was excellent value.

We booked a Studio Apt only a week beforehand. The room was of ample size and was cleaned daily (even Sundays). The bathroom was of excellent order and was equally spotless. All the staff couldn't have been more friendlier either.
The pool at Marina Club is very large and there were plenty of sun-loungers available, albeit at a quite time of the season.

As a location, you're only 10-minutes into the town of Lagos (at a leisurely stroll), but the Marina at Lagos has excellent facilities if you're happy to stay 'local'.

Having read a number of other reviews about other apartments during my research of where to stay, I can honestly say I was very happy with my choice; and I'm sure you will be too.

Very nice modern hotel in a lovely position on the side of the marina.
When I stayed there (only 2 nights) there were only 5 other rooms taken and i didnt see anyone else other than the reception staff.
Great little places to eat around the marina.
Sitting around the pool on my own with the sun out and christmas carols playing....surreal

I'll definately be back to see what its like in high season

Best hotel ever,, Grey , white and silver decor .. Chrome kitchen ,Very modern all the light fittings are trendy and silver, pool view and side marina view,, Very spacious...
Pool is huge and quiet , gorgeous pool bar terrace, main bar is nautical theme..
Town is 5 min walk across the marina and so quaint and traditional , lots of eating places . , There is a bar street which is lively but also cosmopolitan, something for all ages and tastes,
Lagos beaches are amazing long and wide or coves with grottos..
Flight was on time and we booked a gre4at transfer company booklagostransfers.com the driver gave lots of info and ideas he was a local spoke great English. He suggested a great restaurant called SHED10 heaven if you like fish . Eat as much as you like for 9 euro's .. fantastic...........
The transfer took about 1 hour and was a good price we used them again the following year,,
All in all this holiday was a gret success,. Marina club is a great hotel its luxury at a reasonable price,,

We stayed at this hotel between 7 – 17 Sept and paid £840 for their cheapest room (incl breakfast). Check in was efficient and our room was ready within 5 mins even though we arrived at noon. We were upgraded from a standard studio room to a superior room because we were staying more than 7 nights. The room was lovely, very large with double bed (2 singles pushed together), small dining table, kitchenette, large ‘marble’ bathroom with rain shower, fitted wardrobes, flat screen TV, safe, air con and a large balcony with a view over the pool and gardens. Fixtures and fittings seemed of very good quality compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at in Europe.
The reception area, although not very grand, was pleasant and clean, the bar and pool areas were also very nice & there were always enough sunbeds. We didn’t think the pool was particularly cold and certainly no colder than any other we’ve experienced in similar destinations.
Breakfast was good with a selection of hot or cold food, which you could take on the patio outside overlooking the Marina – not a bad start to the day! We ate in the restaurant once (where you also have breakfast), again on the patio overlooking the Marina with the sun setting behind it – very beautiful. The menu was pretty limited but our meals were very good and reasonably priced, however there was absolutely zero atmosphere. No background music (outside), VERY bright lights and lots of white furniture made it very stark. We actually heard one (young) woman walk past the restaurant and tell her partner it was no good as it was too bright. A real shame as all it needs is more subdued lighting and a bit more choice on the menu. We ate at the poolside bar once, again reasonably priced. The sandwiches were nice but the chips were very cold. A few nights we had drinks in the bar, sitting outside overlooking the lit pool, it had a nice relaxed feel (and was probably the nicest bar in Lagos that we had found).
We found all of the hotel staff to be extremely helpful. Reception upgraded us, allowed us to stay in our room until 4pm on departure and even booked restaurants for us and provided us with taxi numbers. The maids kept our room spotlessly clean, the bar staff were really friendly, especially George, restaurant staff were also very pleasant. The hotel also had an outside and underground car park which I think were free.
We thought the hotel was in the perfect location at the Marina, it was nice being away from the hustle and bustle yet only a 15 minute walk from the town centre (it’s a very pleasant walk and doesn’t feel like 15 minutes). There are also quite a few bars & restaurants at the Marina, we particularly liked Oasis for lunch, very clean, friendly service and good well priced food. There’s also a large supermarket 5 minutes away.
Beaches – the very large Meia Praia is about a 15 minute walk away, very clean with 3 main beach bars – we liked Linda’s the best, though it’s not the cheapest, the food is excellent. Bahia beach bar was OK and the 3rd (nearest one to the Marina which I can’t remember the name of), isn’t worth visiting. We took a taxi from the taxi rank in town to Dona Ana Beach (4 euros), a really lovely cove with a very nice (inexpensive) cafe overlooking it.
Lagos itself – the town had a real buzz and was really busy the first week of our holiday. The old town is very pretty with cobbled streets (the whole of Lagos seemed to be cobbled so no point in bringing high heels ladies). Only negative was that we couldn’t really find any nice bars to have a drink in, people just seemed to stay in the restaurants after having dinner.
Weather – pretty hot for the first week, about 30 degrees with warm nights, cooled off after the 12th and nights had a slight chill so ladies may need a cardi around this time of year.
We were extremely pleased with the Marina and would recommend the hotel but can’t vouch for the most basic rooms. We popped into the Marina Rio which we considered staying at and we're glad we didn’t. To the rear is the bus station, to the side open ground where a market is held and in front a very busy 4 lane road, not very relaxing! The décor in reception also seemed dated and we much preferred the contemporary look of our hotel.

This is the second time we have stayed at this complex.

Good points: The building is beautifully kept and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The underground parking is a godsend for a cool car, and security. This time we were in the Suite Hotel and had a Superior Poolside room. The apartment was a good size with a bedroom, bathroom and a very large lounge/kitchen ( and two very large Sofas, one of which made a good bed when my husband snored!).

Going out: We had a car and went out every day to different beaches, along the south coast: Alvor, Ferragudo, Porto de Mos, Meia Praia and Monte Clerigo on the West coast. All are beautiful with good facilities and all easy to find. We also went to Monchique but at this time in the season there was not waterfall!

Eating: We did find eating out quite expensive compared to previous trips - even with the fall in the exchange rate - 14 Euro for a "take away Pizza" was a bit of a shock. The many restaurants in the town seem to all serve the same food, so we tended to have lunch where we were, and on two nights went out to the Romantika Vivenda Miranda Hotel in Porto de Mos for a truly wonderful dining experience - the food, location and service were wonderful. The reception staff there were so pleasant!
Down Side: On checking out we asked if it was possible to keep the room for an extra hour, which, as there was someone coming into our room was not possible, and we fully understood that. I asked if there was anywhere we could shower before leaving - a very short answer of "No" - no suggestions or apologies - just "NO" - left the wrong last impression!!! So if the managment read these reviews, and there are a few with negative feedback on reception staff - please improve your customer service training - it is spoling an otherwsie good experience!

The hotel was really nice and in a great location. It was really clean and me and my friend had a great time. My only complaints are that the recepetion staff were not very friendly and on occasions seemed quite rude and that the pool was very cold, it took your breath away!
