This was just what we needed: a pleasant and warm welcome from Nina on reception at a small hotel far enough away from the centre of Lagos to offer peace and quiet and a delightful pool and surroundings to relax in. We met guests who had returned year after year and were testament to the friendliness of the owners. The main town is about a 20 minute walk but there are restaurants nearer than that. Alternatively you can eat in the hotel if you order by lunch time and very nice it is too.

Excellent family run hotel with high standards of cleanliness and service. It would be difficult to fault the Solar de Mos as it has everything but on a smaller scale.

It is located about a 20 min walk from the town centre, but if you have a car or want to use the local buses, this is not a problem.

Since it is a small hotel they ask that you book an evening meal before mid day, so they can avoid overcatering. We did not have evening meals as such, but the "Snack" menu , available all day, was extensive and when it came it was as good as a meal.

Rooms were spotless and very comfortable. I think they mostly have showers only. We had a bath and appreciated it. The standard of housekeeping was as good as in any 5* establishment.

The staff were very friendly but unobtrusive.

The only slight criticism was charging for the room safe, which is unnecessary in this day and age.

If you are swithering as to whether or not to book, just book, you will not be disappointed.

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times now and it is like coming home to friends. the whole place is clean, friendly and areally relaxing place to come to unwind. We try to come at least once a year for a chill out holiday. We like to book our holidays independently and its so easy to book flight etc. Highly recommend this hotel.

A small hotel but with a friendly welcome about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Lagos with rooms on two floors a swimming pool.

We received a friendly welcome on arrival from staff who speak good English. Our room was very clean with twin beds and a balcony that looked out onto a residential area of smart looking villas.

The breakfast is of a continental style with a choice of cereals, breads, fruit, cold ham and cheese, scrambled egg and a selection of yoghurts, tea or coffee and is self service.

Quite location away from main roads, the walk into Lagos is all downhill but this means the walk back to the hotel is all uphill! Local bus service operated by Onda, linha 2, passes hotel but does go around all the estates. Taxi from the centre of Lagos costs either 3.25 euros daytime or 3.90 euros at night.

Plenty of car parking space so if you are hiring a car this is probably an ideal location.

Lina and Carlos, you are wonderful and thank you for providing a great experience for our family's first trip to Portugal. You were so kind and our time spent at your hotel was the highlight of our trip to Portugal and Spain.

Now, for my review. The rooms were excellent with a nice patio for early morning coffee and to hear the birds. The breakfast was first rate. I still rate your coffee the best on the trip. The pool was wonderful and the kids loved sometimes being the only ones there. The dinner you prepared for us (highly recommend you have them prepare at least one dinner during your stay) was fantastic and very welcoming. It was as if we were at a relatives house - the sardines were divine! Location - it's not at the beach nor is it in close proximity to town. We had a car and that was never a problem. I thought the location was ideal and it was nice to be away from all the busy areas of town/beach.

It's a small hotel with all the charm you would expect to pay higher prices for. I can't believe what a value it was. Lastly, the service provided by the staff - in particular Carlos and Lina was unmatched by any of our stays in Seville, Marbella or Madrid. We will be back and I would recommend it to couples and families. One night we came back from dinner and in the restaurant area there was a family celebrating the fathers birthday. We were invited to join them and eat cake and drink port. Not only was the hotel staff welcoming, the entire group staying at the hotel was very inclusive. You can't put a price tag on these experiences. Thanks again Lina and Carlos from your friends in California!
