This was our third time staying here and the relaxing and pleasant atmoshere has to be experienced. All the hotel staff are so cheerful and helpful and contribute in no small part to making your stay a memorable one.
We always come away from this place feeling really refreshed and looking forward to our next stay there.

A wonderful, quirky, friendly hidden oasis where nothing is too much trouble and the staff's only concern is that you have a great holiday. We have just returned from two weeks soaking in the delights of this area and Solar De Mos in particular. Carlos, Lena, Marisa and of course Mario, are the perfect hosts and although my bar bill at the end took my breath away, that was only because we over-consumed and had nothing to do with the prices which were very reasonable eg 1.7 euro for a pint of lager, 2 euro for a glass of wine, cheaper than our usual haunt in Scotland!

Breakfast was always filling and plenty of it, rooms were always cleaned and tidied daily (except under the beds!!), we seemed to get fresh towels daily too. The pool was crystal clear although I noticed that the chlorine readings were not checked daily.

The walk into Lagos old town was really easy and took about ten to fifteen minutes, well worth it. We ended our holiday at Taberna de Lagos - food and Fado were fantastic. One piece of advice is steer clear of pork on any menus, I'm sure the Portuguese use it for re-soling their shoes! Other eateries to recommend include a small tapas bar in Rua General Alberto da Salveira (diagonally opposite the Museu Muncipal which is also well worth a look at) and Bahia on Meia Praia. The Campimar on Praia de Mos is really good value for lunch.

Only a few (minor) negative comments...

1. if you want a towel for the beach you will get an old well worn one and pay fifty cents for the privilege (towels for the pool are free)
2. the safe should really be included in the room charge
3. the servings at the tuna night and chicken piri piri meals are far too big! At 20 euros per head I would be happy to pay less for less.

These gripes do not affect our view of the hotel, staff, surroundings, facilities and it's location. Really looking forward to returning next year, thanks to all for a wonderful holiday and a huge thanks for being able to watch the Lions and Wimbledon all in one week-end, what more could you ask.

What a lovely place to stay. We arrived on the afternoon and were shown around the hotel and then to our room. Room was spacious with a balcony and very clean. The pool is quiet and so relaxing. We ordered dinner here two nights of our (something we never do preferring to go to restaurant recommended on here) and we were blown away with the standard of cooking. We left at 5.45 am and someone made an effort to get out of their bed to say goodbye! They'd even made us a packed lunch as we hadn't had breakfast. We'll definitely be back here again and again!

If you like to listen to the singing of the birds and the seagulls chattering, whilst laying on your sunbed round one of the cleanest pools we have been in, then this place is for you. If you prefer to watch the children jumping in and out of the pool and shouting at their loudest, whilst downing your favourite alcoholic drink and listening to the loudspeakers playing the latest from the Top 20 at the loudest setting, then it is definitely not for you!
We received the warmest welcome on arrival, and Lena (one of the director's) showed us the layout of the hotel and then took us to our room, facing the pool, where we immediately relaxed, knowing that we were going to enjoy a quiet and relaxing week.
The room was cleaned every day and was a good size with a very good balcony overlooking the pool. It was good to sit out later in the afternoon when the sun had gone from the balcony, just to cool off.
The staff are fantastic, particularly Lena (with a wicked sense of humour!), Mario and Marissa. All our questions about local amenities were answered very accurately and always with a smile.
There was a very good choice for breakfast, with all the usual fruit drinks, cereals, an incredible selection of breads, yogurts, cheeses, meats, fresh fruits, cooked eggs etc.
We ate in town every night, taking a taxi there and back at give or take 5 euros each way. There is a wide choice of restaurants in town and apart from one night we never had a bad meal. There was live music from a number of different groups and also a very good choice of nightclubs, if you wanted one. It was just nice to wander round the old town after a meal or to walk along the promenade.
There is a small gym but it was really too hot to use it!
Just one tip - a hire car is almost essential if you want to do some sightseeing and the hotel will organise one for you.
For our requirements the location was perfect, situated in a quiet residential area. We certainly hope to return.

Room Tip: We would imagine all the rooms are much the same.
