This hotel ticks all the boxes , clean comfortable room and spotless and new looking bathrooms , nice thick curtin to block out the sun in the early mornings, the best part of this hotel is Miguel at the front desk, he was one of the nicest people we met on our trip to Portugal and he makes this hotel. Lagos is a lovely place on the Algarve. Small enough to look around, old market, lovely new marina, so many restaurants. And the hotel is small and perfectly formed. Ask for a room overlooking the marina - you can easily walk into town, to the marina, to the train station to get to Faro and other holiday resorts and the bus station is right behind it. The rooms are lovely, bathrooms just refitted - mine had a lovely walk in shower. Fridge, kettle, hairdryer in the room.... Rooftop pool (heated) and sunbeds. So although its not on the beach its a great place to stay. Highly recommended.

The hotel looks on the first view not so great, but it is really good. The rooms are big enough and it is worth to book a room with a balcony and harbour view. The bed is really comfortable, the bathroom well equipped, fridge and water cattle in the room, bathrobe as well. The toilette has a brush. This is the first time since we are travelling around Spain. Today is our first step in Portugal. In the room you can find even the hotel manual in the writing for blind persons. And this is the first time worldwide, that I have found this in a hotel room!!! The Wifi is fast and good and you have a lot of foreign Satellite TV Stations in the TV. Breakfast is only until 10:00 and also very good. Everthing is very clean and in good condition. If you reserve it before, you can have for 10€ a parking in the hotel garage direct under the building and the elevator goes down to the garage.

This is a fine hotel which ticks all the boxes. Spotlessly clean, helpful and friendly staff, and perfectly located. The breakfasts are excellent, the staff will willingly prepare anything you can't find on display. This was our third visit and makes our next visit to Lagos all the easier. Not many hotels write after our stay to thank us. Other guests describe this hotel as a gem!

My Husband and I went with my Sister and her Husband for a short break while staying with them on holiday.

My boyfriend and I received the warmest of welcomes by Miguel who was behind Reception desk. He made the start of our stay at Hotel Marina Rio a wonderful one. We arrived around 8:30pm, and after a efficient check-in Miguel laid out a map of Lagos for us, recommended us Restaurants, where we could go to etc.
Throughout our whole stay Miguel was always there with a smile, ready and eager to chat to us, and we left on the same high note that we arrived.
The room was clean and very cozy, great mattress and pillows. We had all the facilities we needed. Tea and coffee are provided in the room which gives it a nice touch. We were right next to the bus station (behind the hotel) but still could not hear any noise. The train station is located 3 mins away from the property.
Buffet breakfast offers a variety of treats. Although it was windy, my boyfriend and I enjoyed watching the sunset on the roof with a glass of wine. The hotel has wonderful views to the Marina, and is located at walking distance to the main center area. We enjoyed our stay from day one and would not hesitate going back here should we find ourselves in Lagos again.
