“Marina Rio is great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2012

Stayed in Marina Rio for 7 days. Location is perfect. Train station is just in 5 minutes walking from the hotel, 10 minutes walking from the city center. There are 2 famous beaches and hotel offers a free transfer. Breakfast is good, everyday something new is offered. Pool on the roof is small but warm.
If you are hungry but lazy to go to the center for eating, just 200 meters from the hotel is a great fish restaurant. Some bars and restaurants are just on the other side of marina. One of them has a happy hour form 5 PM till 8 PM.
The minus of the hotel is that wifi is only in public areas. But all advantages makes it great anyway!

Room Tip: Take room with marina view, other side goes to bus station.

Following two weeks in Spain, we stayed at this hotel for four nights to rest, relax, and enjoy the Algarve. When we checked in on April 29 about noon, a very pleasant young man at the front desk greeted us. We paid a bit extra for a room facing the harbor with a small balcony equipped with a small table, two chairs, and a discrete clothesline. (I appreciated the later as it was so convenient to wash out a few clothes and have them dry quickly.) The room itself also had a small table and two chairs that allowed us to comfortably have drinks and snacks inside on a rainy day. It also had a hot pot so we could enjoy a cup of tea anytime. Comfortable robes were available. Wi-fi was free. The breakfast room was bright and cheery, and the breakfast was delicious offering both hot and cold food. (No tang here, only fresh orange juice! Yeah! On our two week trip through Portugal I was surprised that so many hotels didn't serve what Portugal does best: sweet, wonderfully fresh orange juice. You'll get that at Albergaria Marina Rho.)

This family-owned hotel is just so comfortable and accomodating. Have you ever been in a hotel that had their services available in braille? Handicapped lifts near the entry were evident. A scale was in the room for those (not me) who want to weigh-in every day. Also, for those using public transportation, the location is very close to the bus station so regardless what time of day/night you're coming in you will feel safe walking to the hotel. While we did not use it, there is a pool on the top of the hotel.

This hotel has done it's research and knows what comfort is all about. On leaving I asked whether they owned a chain of hotels, but I was told that the family owns only this hotel.

Room Tip: Pop for the harbor view!

A really great B & B hotel. We booked a marine view room which is what we got - suited us, sunny in the morning but shady in the afternoon when the sun is strongest. Room was well appointed with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities - very useful. Bathroom consisted of a bath with shower over, bidet and toilet. complimentary toiletries.
The staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fine - maybe not quite the choice of larger hotels, but this was small and friendly with a more than adequate choice. Lovely fresh fruit, breads, yoghurts etc. with some hot food too.
The hotel was in a good position too, only a short walk from the centre of town with a supermarket nearby.

Room Tip: A front facing (marina view) room is better as the rear rooms face over the bus station. However, t...

We stayed 3 nights at Marina Rio. The desk clerks all spoke English and were very helpful. There are not many doble bed rooms but we were fortunate to have one overlooking the marina and we had a noce balcony as well. There is a small business centre with computer and the lobby with WiFi is very comfortable. There is also a good library in the business centre if you have run out of reading material. Breakfast was buffet style and very good. There is a deck top pool and sundeck. The location is great and the hotel is very quiet. Lots of restaurants and shopping withing a 5 minute walk.

Room Tip: reservations are a good idea especially if you want a double bedded room and if you want a the good...

I went to this hotel for one night after leaving a holiday farm where I had a shocking experience. As a result I was quite upset when I arrived, but the lady on reception was so calm, kind and helpful towards me, she really saved me that evening!

After checking in, she helped me find out how much a taxi to the airport would be, then printed my boarding pass for me, as well as getting me some food and drink.

I was asking so many daft question but she never became inpatient- like when I asked how to work the aircon in my room she just came up with me and showed me.

The room was nice and spacious- breakfast was ok.

Would definitely recommend.

This is a nice hotel just outside the touristy center of town so you can get a little away from everything. The location was great for visiting the marina and the expansive beach beyond it as well. The rooftop pool and sundeck with the marina view were big sellers for us, although the weather didn't cooperate - too windy!

I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay again myself.

The hotel has a truly great location near the city center and the marina. Cozy interior of the hotel, and good size rooms with water boiler, bathrob and balcony, but unfortunately no wi-fi in the room. You may select rooms toward the bus station or the marina. The marina side is probably best in winter and could become noisy in the summertime. There is a nice rooftop terrace and a pool.
Simple, but very good breakfast with egg dishes upon request. The staff is very friendly. The hotels gets extra credit for keeping a Braille service manual in the rooms.
