Palmares golf course is, for me, one of the best golf courses in Portugal.
Is not a easy golf course, but the view for the Lagos bay compensate the game dificulty.
Allways with a very nice wind, refreshing and push you ball for the beach sand, Palmares is a really chalenge.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your visit to Onyria Palmares Golf and also for your review.
It is really satisfying for us to know that you enjoyed our golf course. The panoramic views to the Lagos Bay or to the Ria de Alvor are really a delight to watch.
The course is always a challenge and this is one feature of all the Robert Trent Jones Jr. golf courses. For a mid-handicapper in some holes a bogey is a nice result. In any case the nice views are always there!
I hope to see you soon here again.
Kindest Regards,
Antonio Pinto Coelho

Liked the course, the sea views. No food available before we played. Premium prices, you pay for the views. A treat, rather than a regular fixture

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your review about Onyria Palmares Golf. No doubt the views to the Lagos Bay or to the Ria de Alvor are a gift from nature and a great scenario to play golf.
We usually open the clubhouse from 07:00 am and food is available from 08:00. Of course if you are in a hurry to go into the course you can always ask the marshals for the buggy bar that will meet you on the course.
Regarding pricing the best ways to get the lowest prices are: 1) take advantage of the summer, winter or Easter special deals; 2) use the twilight promotion after 14:00; 3) buy the 2, 3 or 5 round package; 4) Ask for a quote in a group of 16 persons.
I hope to see you again soon here in Lagos.
Kindest Regards,

I have not played this course for several years not at least since it underwent substantial re-design
The 2 nines that I played were the Praia beach nine and the new Alvo back nine.
Views were truly fantastic and the course is in great shape.
The beach holes are quite tricky and you really need to think about ball position, however my new golf sat nav toy put me right everytime.

Lots of obstacle and some long carries on the Alvo nine but thorougly enjoyable all the same.
A nice although small clubhouse with good food and beer.
Well worth a visit.

Thank Gary D

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your nice comments about Onyria Palmares Golf. We are very happy you enjoyed to play here and had a good time.
At Onyria Palmares we have 200 hectares of land where we asked Robert Trent Jones Jr. to set 3 rounds of 9 holes, all of them returning to the club house. You played Praia (holes 19-27) in a links part, and Alvor (1-9) on a parkland scenario. There is also the Lagos round (holes 10-18) which is intermediate round between the two previous in a heathland environment. Of course we are able to set you to play any 3 combinations, so please let us know next time you are here.
We just receive the news we will host for the 2nd time the International Team Championship from the PGA’s of Europe next December! So we will keep working hard to keep in shape.
I hope to see you here again soon.
Kindest Regards,
Antonio Pinto Coelho

7 rounds in a week in a lawyers' golf championship was a great way to appreciate the joys of Palmares. All three nines are tough ,especially in the wind which increased during the day every day. Views are spectacular, the courses are well maintained apart from a temporary problem with weeds on the fairways on the Praia nine. It is not a course for the high handicapper as bad shots ( and sometimes good ones ) can be heavily penalised. Dare I say, however , that the ladies' tees are a long way forward ! The large, undulating greens were particularly demanding. Each day the challenge was different because of the wind and the regular repositioning of both pins and tees. An 8 iron one day could be a 5 the next.
Buggies are almost essential because of the undulating terrain and the distances between greens and tees. Most facilities are excellent save for the restaurant which is a bit basic albeit fabulously located. Food and drink were good quality but expensive. The jewel in the crown was the staff - all unfailingly helpful, professional and efficient with good English and the friendliest of attitudes.
All in all a tremendous golfing experience which I look forward to repeating.

Dear Guest,
I would like to thank you very much for your comments. For everyone at Onyria Palmares it was a pleasure to host the tournament where you took part. It was a great atmosphere that we happily also took part.
Your observation about the challenge of the course is very interesting. In some holes we have 6 tee boxes to try to adjust to the level of the players in the field. On the greens there is also plenty of options since there is different platforms and the surfaces are large. On your competition the level of golf was very good in general and so the tees and pins where adjusted to this input.
The wind, often called the “invisible hazard”, here is more common in these summer months and usually is stronger in the afternoons.
Concerning the buggies we have a large fleet. The usual comment we get is that the round Lagos-Praia (holes 10-27) is the easiest to walk. On the Praia we found that the bermuda grass fairways were taking longer to get off dormancy but they are recovered by now with the rise of temperatures.
I will certainly pass your feedback to all the team which is always very helpful to keep improving.
