“Relaxing, friendly and trendy hotel”

Recently we stayed at Yellow Hotel, Meia Praia. Apart from it's spectacular location, over looking the beautiful Meia Praia beach, this hotel comes highly recommended for both service and luxury surroundings. Breakfast was excellent and caters for both continental style and more traditional Irish/English tastes. We would particularly like to thank "Monica" at reception for being so helpful with suggestions for places to visit and for good local restaurants. Also to "Julio" the friendly bar man for some lovely cocktails! We would recommend Yellow Hotel Meia Praia to friends and family.

That we came here. This place is wonderfull. It's a new hotel and a very beautifull one. Even the high chairs for the kids are furnished as the rest of the furniture.
There are several pools also for the kids. Food is very good - for the dinner you can have a buffet style or menu i suggest te menu.

Location: it's just a bit too far for walking to the city of lagos, but taxis are cheap arround 5-6 euros.

I read some rewievs about wifi, and i realy disn't experience any issues. speedtest showed 8mbit/s which is way more than ok.

I will definitly come back to this place.

This is a lovely hotel. We had fantastic weather compared to the yet, miserable cold uk!

Location is good if you are purely looking for a pool holiday. Its about 2.5km from Lagos and the main shopping and restaurant areas so definately walkable but not every day! We booked last minute due to work commitments so didn't have time to look at location but decided to hire a car. So very glad we did. It was a nightmare to find. If you are driving. Get on to the N125 from airport all the way to Lagos. As soon as you enter Lagos take a left near a pingo supermarket and follow the road till it turns into back road! (if you cross the bridge in Lagos you've gone too far!) In a taxi it would cost around €110-130 each way.... Cheaper to hire! There are toll charges which you need to pay at a post office?! Good luck finding one. Our hire company sorted it out for us!

We found free car parking near the marina restaurants(pizza hut) if you cross the river in the car you have to pay for parking! You can then use pedestrian footbridge to get to the main side of Lagos!

The hotel is impeccably clean, almost clinical! With white floors, open plan throughout and a clear minimalistic design, its very appealing to couples and probably older families. Although kids are welcome there were very few and there were no real groups holiday makers.

Rooms are delightful. Clean spacious modern. All rooms are the same, they just have different views. Our balcony faced hills and towards the next town so was more private. Some balconies looked over the pool area.

We only stayed b and b as we knew Lagos had a lot to offer by ways of food. Breakfast was good. A selection of cooked breakfast with a chef on to cook omlettes and fried eggs. There were pastries, fruit, cheese and ham selection, cereals, juices, hot drinks, champagne etc.

The hotel itself has a gym (although we didn't go near it!!) indoor pool, spa facilities, bar restaurant. Unfortunately we didn't experience any of there facilities they looked good! The cafe bar was average, €1.90 for a soft drink, sandwiches were around €7-9 chips were €5 and they sold icecreams.

Only one highly irritating issue we had was the internet. Wifi available in all rooms. Yes all for 5 seconds then it cut out and you had to log on again, and again and again. You were never connected long enough to check or write emails. We required the internet to keep an eye on business back home and it was incredibly frustrating when you had to log in every 10 seconds because it had disconnected. Staff were aware of the situation and tried to give me different user names and passwords but it just didn't work. The problem wasn't just the internet, you couldn't pick up the signal from the room. The only place you could pick up the signal for about 5 minutes at a time was at reception. They said there was a problem and they were trying to fix it but it didn't get better in the week we were there!

The supervisor and his staff at the cafe bar seemed the friendliest and actually spoke more than two words to us. They were helpful and accommodating! We found in general that most waiting/bar staff seemed very abrupt. We asked if we could change some money on our first day at the hotel, the reception merely said, we don't change money anymore. She didn't suggest where we could change it or explain why they weren't allowed to do it! We never found anywhere that would change money for us and had to use an ATM.

Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday, just what we needed! This is a lovely hotel. Its fairly new and not particularly busy but it was nice the pool wasn't over crowded and full of squealing kids!

We stayed in this hotel for 8 nights in early July. The hotel is located about 5 min drive or 20 min walk outside lagos situated on the opposite side of the road of a beach.
First impressions of the hotel is a new large modern building which stands out in the lagos area for its excellent design on the hill side. Our meet and great was satisfactory at reception this is a potential area for improvement. The young concierge was excellent and made up for the reception and throughout our stay he made more of an effort than those behind the desk.
We had made a number of requests before arrival and on the whole these where received which was pleasing.
The hotels rooms are clean and modern and are well laid out and spacious. There are two main areas for improvement within this area. There are no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and the lack of an ironing board. This was requested from the main reception to be told there was none available but we they do provide an ironing facility at 5 euro per item which is far to expensive. Room cleaning was excellent and most times the rooms where serviced by lunch time.
The hotel itself is clean and modern, it has three outside pools which are cold at first but not to bad when you get into them a while. The sun loungers are excellent. One area of that does need to be addressed is the umbrellas given the high winds these often became dislodged from there stands and flew across the pool areas. These are an accident waiting to happen.
The hotel has an indoor pool and a gym. This is one area that guest needs to be made aware of before booking and it is not clear on their website regarding their policy. The hotel charges for access to the gym, indoor pool, sauna and Jacuzzi between the hours or 10am and 7pm. i have never had to pay for access to enter a gym in an a hotel we stayed in pervious never mind a 5 star hotel. You can access the gym prior to 10am for free and after 7pm, but you don’t want to set your alarm on holidays to get up and back in time for breakfast or go before you go to diner in the evening time. In my opinion you should not be charged for an hotel facility.
Food: Breakfast was excellent every morning there was plenty of food to chose from and the staff were friendly and attentive. It is a lovely setting to eat in the morning outside looking over the pool and the beach. We did eat in the pool side restaurant on the first day my wife’s burger came out under cooked after requested it well done and we decided not to eat their again. I can not comment on dinner as we did not avail of this service. But it is available buffet style at £30 euro per person.
To conclude this is a modern clean crisp hotel situated on the outskirts of lagos, it was ideal for us as we had a car and could commute back and forward to the town. If the hotel addressed the few areas highlights this would make a great hotel even better.
We would stay in this hotel again and we would recommend it to our friends and families. Potential guest just needs to be aware of the location and the gym access but only if this is an issue for them.

Room Tip: Most rooms have parital views. the rooms with full ocen views did not seem to be in use so not sure...

We visited this hotel in October 2011 and May 2012 for 10 days on each occasion. The reviews are very mixed and if you are looking for peace and quiet in a tranquil adult environment then this is the hotel for you. Other reviewers are correct when they say that there arent many staff around, but for us its not a problem. There was always someone available on reception or at the spa desk - staff were totally obliging and always had a smile for us whenever we asked for anything. If you enjoy holidays where staff are plentiful, circulating and ever-attentive, then you may well be disappointed ...
The infinity pool is sublime - comfortable beds and sun shades, And a second pool on the lower garden at the front of the hotel with most amazing view of the sea.
The rooms are plush and modern with the most comfortable beds and excellent quality sheets and towels. The rain shower is something to enjoy! Whilst we didnt have our mini bar stocked, we did make good use of the fridge to chill water and any other goodies we purchased at the supermarket in Lagos.
Breakfasts were great with plenty of choice for everyone - the 'egg chef' comes out periodically and prepares egg dishes to order - just ask a member of the restaurant staff if the chef isnt there - they are happy to help.
The Yellow Lagos stretch of beach is exceptionally clean and quiet, reached via a board walk with beach cafes/restaurants. There are no umbrellas and beds here but you can bring your pool towels from the hotel.
There is a bus stop ouside the hotel and you can purchase bus cards from the depot in Lagos - great value as you get half price travel and the cards are rechargeable. However the bus service (no 2) is limited in the evenings so if you dont fancy the walk back from town at night (2.5 km), plan to spend around 7 euros on a taxi. And in the daytime, take the time to walk into town along the beach - it'll bring you out at the boat yard and marina where you cross the footbridge to reach the shops and restaurants and the old town.
Lagos has many and wonderful restaurants to offer .... and its fair share of the usual tourist eateries - explore the old town for some traditional cuisine and look out for the Wine and Tapas Bars.
Would we recommend this to our friends? Will we return once more? Most definitely!

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room to get the best views in any direction.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights in May. While we got lucky with great weather, the hotel certainly made our stay better than we could have imagined. As an avid traveler I can confidently say that this is one of the cleanest and most modern hotels I've ever stayed in. The rooms are quite large, which is rare in Europe, and the staff are accommodating and helpful. We read that the walk into Lagos is easy, but would recommend taking a taxi as it's a nice ride into town and its affordable. The pictures on the hotel's website don't do it justice, its an amazing place.

Room Tip: Request a room with a pool/ocean view.
