Being fortunate enough to live within 25 minutes cliff top walk from Ponte da Piedade, I walk there almost daily. Whatever the season, I never ever tire of the wonderful view walking from (my) Porte Mós cliff end towards Ponte da Piedade - the "place of piety". The views along the walk are nothing less than stunning and when you arrive at Ponte da Piedade there are a number of heart-achingly beautiful coves and grottoes to walk down to or simply adore from above! A small café/restaurant invites to stay and, over a coffee or glass of wine, to sit, ponder life and admire the coast towards Lagos and across the sea. Whilst during the day in high season it is unfortunately somewhat blighted by constant arrival of large tour coaches expelling their eager camera-clad "touristas", if you can get up early enough to watch the sunrise (fabulous) or get there after 5 pm you can have this idyllic spot almost entirely to yourself......

Hiked from Luz to Lagos and embarked with Victor for one of most incredible boat tours yet! Seeing the rock formations from above on earlier hike and at sea level on grotto tour was awesome! Not to missed!

The scenary at Ponta da Piedade is spectacular from the cliffs; however, you really should descend down to the water and take one of the boat tours through the caves. I'm pretty sure it just cost us 12 Euro's--and the captain takes you in and out of caves down the coast past Praia Camillo (very private, non commercial) and Praia Dona Ana which is the one we chose to visit after our cave tour. The water is crystal clear--you can see right to the bottom! Just awesome. And the cliffs and caves offers great opportunities for the photographers out there! Just watch your head entering the caves--I'm a relatively big guy and was a bit worried that I'd be decapitated entering one cave where we were required to lie flat in the boat!! :-O lol

Interesting views all round - make sure you go down all the steps to really experience the views. Be careful on the cliffs though, it's very scary if you go near the edge - I lost my bottle at one poibt and I'm 50 (on second thoughts that's probably why I lost it). Be careful with mobile young kids - might be an idea to keep them close/secure. Doesn't take very long so I'd suggest combining with a trip to Camilo beach and it makes for an interesting couple of hours.
