“Lagos zoo - wheelchair accessible”

Parque Zoologico de Lagos

A little off the beaten track but worth a visit. It is wheelchair accessible all areas. Snack food was good and freshly prepped - not too costly for a captive audience either

Was a bit apprehensive about the zoo. We have had a bad experience in the past with zoos abroad. We were pleasantly surprised. No big animals but plenty of birds, monkeys, flamingos, reindeer and giant tortoises. There was also 2 pygmy hippos. We had a very enjoyable visit. The only downside was the price. 16.00 for adults and 12.00 for children. Would be a bit expensive if you had a couple of children.

This is a good half day out. If you like birds and apes then you will really enjoy your trip to Lagos Zoo. Just check your receipt as when we got back to our rental villa, we noticed that even though we paid for a family of 4, the receipt was only for a party of 3.

If you want some time away from the beach this is a great place to visit for all age groups. The main aim of the park is education and conservation. All of the animals appear well cared for and you are able to view them up close and personal. There are plenty of benches to sit on with many in the shade, especially good when watching the white handed gibbons who just love to put on a show swinging from tree to tree. There is a reasonably priced snack bar selling many things including, cakes, sandwiches, toasties, pizzas, ice creams and drinks (including beer). If you wish to take your own packed lunch there is a dedicated picnic area. My husband and I were happy with our entrance fee of 16 euros each as there is much to see and made a nice half day outing.

If you want to see sheep, ducks, chickens, rabbits and cows then this is the place for you!
Bit of an exaggeration as there are other animals of interest in the zoo but we felt that they lacked space and clean living conditions. A little worrying when you are wandering and bump into an escaped wallaby!!! Hope the snakes don't escape!
Though the entrance fee was very high...it's very small and we walked it taking our time in 1 hour.
