“Hardly a zoo.”

Parque Zoologico de Lagos
Ranked #9 of 82 things to do in Lagos

If you want to see sheep, ducks, chickens, rabbits and cows then this is the place for you!
Bit of an exaggeration as there are other animals of interest in the zoo but we felt that they lacked space and clean living conditions. A little worrying when you are wandering and bump into an escaped wallaby!!! Hope the snakes don't escape!
Though the entrance fee was very high...it's very small and we walked it taking our time in 1 hour.

Nice zoo, easy to find although quite pricey for entry. They do accept AFPOP cards and give a discount so if you have one, don't forget to take it.
Group photo taken on the way in which you can buy a the end for €10 for 1 big and 1 x small. this used to be with real parrots so not sure why they're not there any more.
Beautiful birds, peacocks wandering freely, wallabies both in and out of their enclosure, prairie dogs, meerkats and then lots of farm animals as well but the best feature is the 'monkey island' where they seem to play happily and freely, carrying babies on their backs, so cute.
There are a couple of small play areas, a snack bar and a restaurant and there is an information place for children to learn more about animals. Oh and there's a bat enclosure too!
A good few hours but not really a full day trip.

Well worth a visit. There is good range of animals nicely housed and well cared for. Cost is a little high - euros 60 for a family of four particularly as it is really only a half day experience. Our favourites were the gibbons which were great fun.

A great small zoo. Animals looked well cared for. The kids loved to feed the animals. Lots of shady areas and kids play areas. Only one small snack bar on site but a restaurant at the entrance which we tried, which was good and inexpensive.

We visited here a couple of weeks ago whilst on our holiday. It was brilliant! I couldn't believe how close you could get to the animals. The monkeys were on an island with just a little moat round, no fencing or barriers so you could get a real close look. They were hilarious, seemed to enjoy entertaining the crowds who were all clapping and cheering.
You can walk through the bat enclosure and they just hang there above you head!

They had a little petting area where you can feed the baby goats etc, they were so cute and friendly. The kids all seemed to love it and the cafe was very reasonable.they had push along cars for the kids to ride round on which was a nice touch.

It was about €16 to get in but well worth it.
