7 km gently shelving golden sands. Blue/green sea. Little shelter on beach so beware. Great for an evening walk.

Stretching from Lagos pretty much to Portimao, the Meia Praia is a gorgeous long crescent shaped stretch of golden sand. The dunes behind host a number of good beach bars and restaurants. Good for a walk.. a long wall along the shore

In Portuguese Meia Praia means "half beach", presumably because the miles of golden sand are interrupted by the entrance to Alvor harbour. It must be the biggest half beach in the world....

The sandy beach, backed by dunes, has lifeguards in the summer. The sea is calm in the prevailing Northerly winds but can be rough if the wind is from the South. There are several beach bars and restaurants and places where you can hire sun umbrellas, loungers and so on.

The beach is so huge that it never feels crowded. The sea is a pleasant temperature in September.

Very nice beach to stroll along. You do not see many people go for a swim as the water in the Atlantic is slightly on the cool side.

It was a bit disapointing and really needs a revamp. The changing rooms are a bit shabby. The bar area was fine but the whole appearance of the Huts needs to be ubgraded

Beautiful beach with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. Also a few restaurants along the beach serving great food at reasonable prices. Just be aware waves can be very strong at times and not really suitable for children swimming. Towards the end of the beach is the Duna Beach Club with a swimming pool, changing rooms and bar. Beds are €10 each, very comfortable and towels are provided.

Great boardwalk, a few restaurants along the way, wide and Long Beach, boat rentals available. Chair and shade rentals.
Quiet in October.

Without a doubt one of the finest beaches in the world. I believe I walked eight km on it the afternoon I visited, from the family end to the nude optional end and back. Also, the food and drinks are very inexpensive, too. Definitely a winner.

This is a lovely beach stretching several kilometres, it's very quiet and it's always easy to find a secluded spot with few people about. The sand is lovely and there is absolutely no litter on the Beach. Pleasant to sit and watch the boats go by and a great way to spend a couple of restful hours.
