Made a further visit to O Alberto during July and again had a fabulous dinner. On the night we visited it was busier than normal however a little patience was rewarded by the quality fare. The front of house waitress is charming and manages the orders to allow the chef to prepare fresh meals as opposed to quick turnover food that can found in lesser establishments. A couple did leave while we were there and no doubt missed out.

This is a local Portuguese restaurant which doesn't look like much from the outside however inside it is airy, cool and pleasant with the kitchen right next to the dining room so you can see your meal being prepared.
You can also view the meat and fish in glass cabinets as you enter the restaurant.

We enjoyed bread and olives to start followed by Alentejo pork with clams and sautéed potato for two, a fillet steak and piri piri prawns.
Although the pork dish was good, I found the pork a bit dry and there were not as many clams as I had in same dish at a nearby restaurant.
Prawns were plentiful and had been half shelled to serve. Served with boiled rice and they also threw in a mixed salad when requested. Although nice they weren't as spicy as they should have been.
Desserts were mixture of bought in and home made. Profiteroles were bought in and very sweet, almond tart was home made and tasted nice.

Alberto is clearly the chef and Mrs Alberto is the front of house / waitress. Mrs Alberto was very cheery and helpful, recommending a nice red for our meal.

Suggest you do not go here if you are in a hurry though because it is basically Mr and Mrs Alberto and a helper in the kitchen. Service can be slow depending on how busy they are. Having said that, we had a relaxed enjoyable meal and would return again.
All in four covers, main course, three desserts, coffee and water was 78 Euros. Bargain and quality!

No idea what the food was like as we left after 35 mins.
Ten minutes waiting to be seated in a half empty restaurant.
Twenty five minutes without even being asked if we would like a drink.

Good fish well prepared and with open kitchen to see the chef cooking. Located at the centre of Lagos just a few minutes from the mainstream streets. Usually not crowded and with plenty of tables and a nice TV to watch soccer games. Good selection of wines at reasonable price. Affordable and predictable price for the meal.

After three nights of poor restaurant choices in Lagos, a couple in your hotel recommended this restaurant. We are so glad they did. We went every night for the rest of the holiday. We had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection for under €15. It would be at least £27 in my local restaurant. Everything is cooked right in front of your eyes. Even the potatoes for the chips were cut fresh each time. The meat joint is taken from the display fridge and cut also. The kitchen is run calm and like clock work. It was lovely to sit and watch. Both the chef and the waitress were very friendly. As you can tell my boyfriend and I can't recommend this place enough. On two of the nights we were there over ten police officers came in to eat as a previous reviewer has also commented. We also noticed other repeat customers. It goes to show that once you eat there you won't want to go anywhere else!

Head behind Lagos Bus Station. Follow the steep road up and around. There are two signs at the start of the road indicating the restaurants. When you get to the top of the road you'll see two restaurants, this restaurant is the one on the left.
