After lots of visits to Lagos, we fancied a light meal, so thought tapas would be a good option. We were delighted with the quality of food, the presentation of all dishes, the service and the wine choices. The decoration is also lovely and even though modern, the restaurant remains cosy. We ended up eating here 3 times and tried different dishes on each occasion. We did not have a bad dish. You end up staring at other peoples plates to see what they have ordered too, and would happily go through the menu. Really recommend this, fresh food, great variety, lovely to share dishes and try different options.

a classy selection of wine and tapas, we were glad to see that they had a variety of vegetarian dishes. Our fav was the honey goats cheese and walnut bruschetta.
Our server was polite and made recommendations which were amazingly delicious.
The restaurant looks marvellous and the food they serve is delicious.

How do you choose? How the heck do you choose? With multiple cafes, restaurants and holes in the Moorish walls how do you get lucky? Well maybe they are all wonderful, but Xpreitaqui serves Portuguese tapas and traditional dishes of a most superior quality. The trick here is to either go with a crowd and order plenty of dishes, or if alone, spend plenty of time with the menu and order slowly one or two plates at a time. I was lucky enough to fit in sardine filets in tempura with herbs reduction, amazing local broad beans the size of doubloons cooked with chorizo and black pudding, soft slices of black pig on skewers and the most angelic goat,s cheese warmed in phyllo pastry with honey on a base of apple confit. Each course paired with a glass of Portuguese wine the best being the Coura from the Douro. A meal to be re tasted in the gustatory memory for many a day.

The most delicious choice of Tapas, fresh and beautifully cooked. Fresh tomato Bruschetta with marinated anchovies, pieces of tuna steak, perfectly cooked, chicken with a peanut sauce, fresh grilled king prawns and more. Leave enough room for the fresh pineapple dessert (or chocolat cake for those that can) and do ask Jorges for his wine recommendations. Portugese wines have come a long way since my first visit to the Algarve 20 years ago.

The food is very good, the service may get a bit slow if the restaurant is busy, but it is fantastic, I love the Tapas, chicken keebab in peanut sauce , prawns in lemon , monkfish with mustard sauce, black pudding. The main dishes are also very good, all the food is very well presented. Ah! and you should try the Petit Gateux with icecream and red fruits sauce, simply delicious
