Casa Bela Moura - Charming Hotel
Ranked #4 of 28 Faro B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 5, 2011

This hotel/ B&B is on the road between the town of Porches and Armacao de Pera. I'd recommend hiring a car to make it easier to get to and to visit places around the Algarve but it isn't necessary if you are happy to chill in the hotel and walk 20 mins to a beach resort and restaurants.
This is the only slight "con" - there are so many "pros":
Clean cool bedrooms and bathrooms. All very nicely decorated. A heated pool (26oC) so it's pleasant to swim even out of season. Lots of loungers by the pool and also on two shared in the main house and some private balconies in the second house (30 secs walk from the main house). Beautifully landscaped grounds. Great breakfast buffet selection - hot food, breads, cheese, meats, fruit and cereals. "Afternoon tea" between 4-5:30pm serving cakes, fruit and drinks. A very reasonable bar and mini-bar in room with the same prices. Staff helpful with local information re food, walks and things to do.
Casa Bela Moura is run by a Belgian couple and most staff speak Flemish/ Dutch as well as fluent English (and probably French and German too) - all very friendly and helpful.
All in all we had a lovely relaxing break and would recommend this hotel to other couples and small families who want a quiet, relaxing holiday in the sun.

Room Tip: Quiet, relaxing hotel in the sun

We had an absolute fantastic time at this accommodation despite some minor tweaks. The rooms are tastefully decorated, air-conditioned and all amenities are modern, comfortable and in an excellent condition. The beds were extremely comfortable. The shower a walk-in model. The hotel is owned and managed by a Belgian couple and you can sense it in the way they treat their guests, up to standard and they know their business. A warm welcome with detailed information. The audience staying at this hotel is predominantly a German, Belgian and Dutch crowd. The poolarea is clean, spacious and the poolbar overlooking the swimming area add to the excitement. Cofee/tea and cake are complimentary from 4 o’clock onwards till 17:30h. Breakfast is buffet-style and varies nearly daily with pancakes sometimes on offer. This boutique place sells itself partly as “Turismo Rural”, a Portuguese label promoting inland accommodation but for us, this does not really apply since you are literally at walking distance from nice sandy beaches, loads of restaurants and the frontyard is situated alongside a pretty busy road. The way balances are paid frowned my eyebrows a little bit. Upon booking you need to pay a deposit which is okay but the full balance needs to be cleared one month before arrival. In addition, it is the father of the owner that bookkeeps and all monies need to be paid into Belgian accounts, which to me explains they’re sort of working as a touroperator model as they also arrange some tours. The hotelwebsite is of a very poor quality. Selling your property as a “charming hotel” or “Turismo rural” means nowadays you need a state-fo-the-art website. Also credit cards are not accepted. But these small details could bit ruin our stay, contrarely, we would highly recommend this accommodation. Not cheap in high season but you truly get value for money. You’d return for cake and cinnamon biscuits at 4pm already. Well done to the owners, their devotion to hospitality was well received. This little gem stands out in this desert of tourist trap restaurants and amber-coloured skyhigh condobuildings.

Me and my fiancé chose this small hotel for our honeymoon, since we wanted something different, no big buildings and aquagym animation or those kind of things.
Just a little place where we could relax and enjoy our time together... and that's exactly what we've got. Although the owners gave lots of information and help in planning our excursions, they didn't impose theirselves on us and we didn't feel pushed to buy or participate in anything. We did follow their suggestion to do a boattrip with a local fisherman to see the caves and inlets along the fabulous coast with dramatic clifftops, hiding wonderfully secluded beaches (soft sand, not rocks or pebbles). And we do suggest any other traveller to follow up on their advice regarding restaurants. All of the restaurants we tried, from their suggestion list, were absolutely great. Not fancy or expensive, just good food, friendly service and sometimes even with a nice seaview.
Oh and, maybe good to know for those willing to go there early in the year : their pool is the only one that was heated on our trip in Portugal.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Bela Moura. The welcome was second to none, and the owners, always around to help, provided good tips on where to eat, where to visit, routes etc. Rooms were excellent-very comfortable and clean. Breakfast also excellent, and varied a little from day to day which was good. Small hotel and very personal service. Most of the Algarve, to the East and to the West, are within a comfortable drive, so the hotel is well placed. No hesitation in recommending it for your stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Bela Moura very much. The place itself was amazing! Very clean, newly renovated rooms, great pool with plenty of sun chairs and towels. Great breakfast served daily. Friendly staff are eager to give advice on what sights to see, where to go for a great meal or what beach to visit.
We spent a week at this hotel and really enjoyed it. It is located near the beach with restaurants and a grocery store near by.. very convenient!! The Algarve is beautiful and is a must see for everyone!!
