10 Euro's each for a nice boat ride through the Ria Formosa Nature Park to Deserta Island, the most southern point in Portugal...where you are free to stay and explore the remote beach for as long as you want. Great shells! :-)

“Stunning!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

This was one of the best days of our fabulous Algarve holiday! The small ferry to the island runs four or five times a day in this season and is a very pleasant 45 minute water taxi to Deserta. There is one ecologically designed wooden building housing the restaurant, bar and facilities. The rest of the island consists of about 11km of sugar sand beaches and clear blue waters. We were so lucky with our weather, but the sense of space serenity & freedom on this exquisite little island is beyond compare. Highly romantic! Next time we would take a bottle of bubbly to enjoy on one of the deserted beaches! Loved it! Would most definitely return!

“Endless white sand.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2013

We came to Faro after a four stop trip down through Portugal with the intention of rounding off with a bit of sea and sun - the Faro beach (near airport) was good but the beach too shelving for safe bathing in the rough Atlantic . Isla Deserta was a different kettle of fish. The Ferry trip is 10Euros pp ( you can take a tour for 20 ) from the sea side of the Old Town. Good natured ferrymen set the mood and when you walk down the decking walkway on the island and through the restaurant /café a seemingly endless beach of white sand with rough marine scrub behind seems to go on for ever . Three swims , a hour long walk and a day eating ginger biscuits in the perfect sun left us relaxed if a little too pink. Not everyone's cup of tea but Heaven for us !

A breath-taking beach and a picturesque nature walk (that takes about 45 minutes). Great guided tour over!
