If all you want to do is go to the beach then get the bus and got to the main Faro beach. If you want to escape though, it could be great for you. We travelled on a fairly overcast but not cold day in September and it wasn't too busy, we walked quite a way and it soon became deserted. Quite nice for the boat trip but lots of similar places e.g. Tavira island which don't cost €20 return!

The boats from Faro take 30 minutes. Once there, the water is crystal clear, the sand isn't too fine so it doesn't get stuck to you and it's literally a deserted island with plenty of space regardless of how many people are there!

Deserted Island is pure, a rather small island with only one small restaurant and only some low bushes, shelfs and sand! People have to go by ferry (not for cars) through Parque Ria Formosa to go to this beach. So don't expect luxury but see a pure beach to walk around to enjoy the magnificent views to Ilha Do Farol or Faro and Olhao at the horizon.
Maybe you even watch some birds.
We enjoyed it very much for our 30 min. stop while cruising to Ilha Do Farol. Next time we will hang out there for a couple of hours!

If you visit this area do not miss a visit to this beautiful island. Calm shingle beaches on one side; Wave crashing, soft sandy beaches on the other; with lots of little private beach areas to escape the crowds! Do not miss it!!
