“Best hostel experience I've ever had!”
Reviewed June 17, 2013

I have stayed in many hostels around Europe but this was by far the very best!! The hostel building itself is absolutely beautiful, with an inner courtyard and a great terrace overlooking the square. What especially sets this hostel apart from others is not just its great location or facilities (the bedrooms are very nice, the bathrooms very clean on the whole) but the great atmosphere: they got the "best atmosphere" award from 'hostel bookers' and deserve it 200%! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and always make an effort to chat to new guests and get to know them. The Saturday night barbecues are incredible, with everyone sitting around tables listening to live music (played by the staff usually) and getting to know each other. I felt at home immediately, and the fun atmosphere was infectious! A unique, amazing hostel which I absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Faro!

So are the meals! Great breakfast included in cost and a delicious dinner for only 7 euros (hard to find) makes this a great place to stay! Be prepared to be social. My only concern was the lack of lockers in the facility, but I felt safe leaving my items on my bunk, carried valuables with. Beds are VERY comfortable and clean. Lots of communal areas and free wifi/internet available. Definite recommend!

Room Tip: I was in the 12-bed dorm, if you can get the spot around the corner, it provides some more privacy!

The hostel is huge with lots of communal areas. The staff cook a communal dinner every night which makes it really easy to meet other travellers if you're travelling alone.
One of the best hostels I've stayed in in Europe - highly recommended

Its a good hostel with a convenient location. It is in a beautiful old building, with an outside court yard and they keep the place pretty clean and tidy. In my opionion the beds are the outstanding feature of this hostel. The bunks are bigger than normal with very comfortable mattresses. It is also worth mentioning that the staff are very helpful and friendly. .

It is definitely a social place and for me that meant a little more noise than I would like. They were playing the music very loudly in the lounge when I was trying to get an early night in the 4 bed dorm adjacent. In fairness I am a more mature independent traveller and this is unlikely to bother most people who would consider staying here.

Contrary to many reviews - I was not so impressed by the food provided. The vegetarian option was not too my taste at all nor was it good value, although I have to recognise that a great effort was made by the staff to accommodate me!

Overall I would certainly go back for a night or two if I was passing through Faro.

Huge rooms, lots of space. The owners even cook for you if you want and it is like a big family affair.
I don't remember what it was called but I had amazing fish cooked in coconut served with rice for dinner with them. We stayed up late sharing stories around the table. Amazing atmosphere and lots of bean bags to slouch!

I came just passing through faros and i gladly ran into this amazing place, met a lot of people from all over the place, and I just didn't want to leave. Will be coming back in the future for sure. They have amazing super clean rooms and an overall great environment. They have everything you need to make you feel at home. Every night you can have an amazing homemade dinner for amazing price and there is infinite beer to accompany that.

We stayed in en-suite double room which was very clean and comfy bedding. Had problems with the door but they promised to fix it as soon as possible. The kitchen is very spacious and has everything you need to cook a meal. They also have some ready meals and drinks to buy if you forgot to do your shopping. The living room has one computer or you can connect your own device for Internet. The living room is very cosy, relaxing and quiet with one or two staff members always there to help you. The staff is very helpful and always has something to talk about. We had a wonderful meal with other travellers and with the staff together, which was absolutely delicious. We then also all went out to the local club for a night out which was a great idea, otherwise I wouldn't go out just with my friend as I wouldn't feel safe enough.
They also provide towels and a wonderful quick breakfast in the morning. I really enjoyed staying there, although it turned out a little bit expensive but isn't massively expensive especially we have been staying in a en-suite double room. Definitely great experience and nice atmosphere.
