Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Hotel Faro in the last week of November. It's location is right on the marina. We had a large bright bedroom,(119), lovely bathroom, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.Breakfast had varied choice of hot and cold buffet on the roof terrace overlooking the Marina.
If you are over 65 then carry your passport with you. When travelling by train you will get 50% discount. We went to Vila Real De St Antonio and took a ferry over to Ayamonte in Spain for the day. We also went to the yellow building on the marina to the left of the hotel and got a boat to a Desert Island which had a lovely restaurant and beautiful beaches.

Room Tip: Although our room on the first floor did not face the marina, it overlooked o quiet street and had a...

We stayed here for one night prior to flying back to uk. The internal decor of this hotel is fab. Our room was very clean ,good bed and really super marble bathroom. Unfortunately our room was on the first floor not far from a nightclub, with very late hours. It was very noisy, people were still outside at 7.00 the following morning when we left for the airport. So next time we will ask for a quiet room. We would come back again, but for anyone catching an early flight, breakfast does not start till 7.30, too late for us.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room , as far away from the nightclub as possible.

We had a great weekend in Faro staying here. The hotel is fresh and refurbished. The room was clean and modern. It is right on the harbour front, as central as it is possible to get, very close to some good bars and restaurants. It was inexpensive and good value for money.

When we were there an enourmous stork had made a huge nest in the lampost outside the front door! Rather wonderful.

Downside was that the double glazing was ineffective and there was a lot of street noise from people going into and coming out of clubs - 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. - so unless you are a heavy sleeper, ask for a room away from the road. The window glazing really is poor - it was so loud I thought I had left the window open. Also in 2012 I don't expect to have to pay for wi fi in the room (although it was free in the lobby).

A good experience except for street noise and poor sound insulation.

Room Tip: get a room away from the noisy road.

Hotel Faro was located a minutes walk away from the street with all the clubs/ nightlife and a minute on the other side for shopping. The bus stop is right across the hotel which provides much ease for people taking an Eva bus to Lagos, Albufeira, Lisbon etc.
Breakfast had limited variety but good enough for the price we paid per person.
It was off season when we went so not sure but the area could get noisy because its so central.
All in all a great hotel to experience all the action in Faro!

It is set in a lovely location. The breakfast room has a view over a harbor and its really picturesque. The facilities are so-so. They can definitely improve in making their windows double-glazed. Many times during my stay I was awakened by noise coming from outside. It was too audible. The cleanliness is quite exemplary and the breakfast was quite good. I am picky about noise and bed so in this sense, Im giving it a 3/5. Bed was a bit too hard for me.

Room Tip: Avoid the 1st floor cause of the outside noise.

Dear Guest

First of all let me thank you for your review of our hotel.

Regarding the issues in your review, the mattresses are the top from the manufacturer that we work, but we are aware that some guests appreciate a softer mattress (personally I appreciate our beds but I understand the negative review in this matter).

The period you visited us is one of the most “active” for the university students in the city, and some days in the surroundings of the hotel there are some noise (our windows are double-glazed), if the noise is too loud and a guest have a light sleep this can be uncomfortable, a higher floor would be perfect.

Sorry for this situations and we hope to welcome you again in our Hotel

We recently spent an enjoyable weekend in Faro and will definitely return to this hotel next time we're in town. It is well located for sightseeing and within easy walking distance of a variety of local restaurants.

Our room was spacious and had a large, modern bathroom. Staff were pleasant and helpful and spoke very good English. Breakfast is served on the lovely rooftop terrace overlooking the marina and you can also enjoy a drink here in the evening. Despite the hotel's proximity to the airport, we were not bothered by aircraft noise and indeed, aviation enthusiasts will enjoy sitting in the bar and watching aircraft come in to land at nearby Faro airport. There is free wi-fi in reception.

I have three minor criticisms:

Firstly, the mattress was very hard. Secondly, the room had an open clothes rail rather than a traditional wardrobe and personally I would prefer to be able to shut my clothes away. This sort of arrangement is maybe okay for business travellers or people only staying for one night, but for longer stays, I think a proper wardrobe is preferable. Thirdly, the room safe isn't very! It is light, portable and not fixed to anything. Not much of a deterrent to thieves!

However, these observations aside, on balance it was a very enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: We liked our room at the front, overlooking the marina, but there was some noise from local youths g...

Stayed here one upon arrival in Portugal, and another night at the end of the holiday. Great location, and wonderful breakfast on the terrace with great views. On the first night, my husband was not well and the receptionist was so helpful and friendly and allowed us to stay in the room until much later than the normal check out time. When she knew we we returning in a weeks time she asked if we wanted to book the same room, which was great. Reception staff were excellent. Room was very comfortable and very adequate for the hotel rating. Would stay again.
