We stayed at Hotel Eva for a couple of nights in the middle of May. The hotel is only a 15 minute drive from the airport and a taxi cost us €10. As we took an early flight we got to the hotel around 11am and as our room was ready we manged to check in early. We took the lift to our room which was on the 4th floor and had a marina view, which was the reason why I booked this hotel in particular. The room had twin beds, flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe, complimentary shower gel and shampoo, hairdryer, a mini bar and table and chairs on the balcony. Complimentary WiFi was available throughout the hotel. I booked the room on a bed and breakfast basis and the restaurant was upstairs on the 5th floor along with the rooftop pool. The breakfast was a mix of English and continental, with eggs, bacon and sausages along with cold meats, cheese and pastries. They also had the custard tarts available. The tea and coffee was self service. The restaurant was light and airy and had great views overlooking the water. We didn't visit the pool and opted for the beach instead, the towels were available at reception for a €10 deposit each. The hotel is in a great location as there are plenty of restaurants, bars and cafés only a short walk away. The boat to the beach wasn't available whilst we were there, but the pick up point was only ten minutes walk. The bus terminal, which was located behind the hotel, was where we caught bus no. 16 to the beach, which cost us €2.35 each, paid to the driver. That same bus also takes you to the airport and takes 25 and 20 minutes respectively. The bus runs every 30 minutes, roughly, and the timetable is available online. The staff at hotel Eva were friendly and polite and spoke good English. They were helpful and provided us with maps of the local area and also an iron and ironing board upon request which they brought up to our room. After checking out we left our bags at the hotel and booked a private car to take us back to the airport, which cost €15.

Had a lovely 4 night break at the Hotel Eva in Faro City - a very small city but very picturesque and peaceful, so perfect if you’re looking for a relaxing break!

Hotel good points:
Perfect location right at the Marina and in walking distance from Faro old and new town.
Lovely, clean room and sheets changed daily - good amount of toiletries and water on arrival.
Friendly and the perfect reception staff who can’t do enough for you!
Fabulous breakfast with lots of choice!
Rooftop and Sun Terrace bars outstanding - what a view!!

Hotel (not bad points, but things to consider):
Hairdryer in bathroom very dated and takes forever to dry your hair when it’s as thick as mine!
Sun-beds! You definitely need to improve in more sun-beds or stop people claiming them for half the day when they’re not there!
Buffet dinner - you definitely need signs to let people know what they are eating - and when you suffer allergies, this is very important! However, 10 out of 10 service for providing us with a suitable meal when we asked - this was exceptional service

Would definitely recommend Hotel Eva for those wanting a relaxing and chilled out holiday - loved it and all the sunshine!

My husband & I stayed at Hotel Eva, from the 13/05/19 -23/05:19
We got a very warm welcome from reception staff, & a lovely glass of wine. The hotel over looks the marina, a lovely view from our balcony. Breakfast was fantastic, & staff very attentive. Faro is a beautiful city, plenty to see & do. Restaurants are excellent & well priced. Take a trip on the ferry to the amazing beaches. We really enjoyed our stay in Faro, hotel fabulous so much so we have booked Hotel Eva again for 2 weeks in May next year.
Highly recommend Hotel Eva.

A 2 min drive from the train station, this hotel is situated right on the small marina and right next to the old town. In terms of location it is perfect.

Reception is spotless and welcoming, as were the rooms and everyone was more than helpful. We arrived at the point in the year where the air con had not been switched on yet in the rooms, yet the weather was just warm enough to warrant it which meant that night time was a little warm.

The breakfast has a wide variety to choose from, service is swift and the view is excellent.

One thing i found a little disheartening was as I was having breakfast I watched one of the 'male morning supervisors' grab one of the female waitstaff aggressively by the arm, shoving her and clearly barking some sort of order at her. I do hope this isnt reflective of how the wait staff are treated as they really were doing a spectacular job.

First impressions.
Upon arrival they managed to check us into our room 5hrs ahead of schedule, this was a welcome relief due to the early start we had. 9/10

Pool area:
I’ve seen better but I have also seen worse.
Limited sunbeds (We never struggled as we are early risers) the pool area is quite small with limited room around the edges due to the various seating.
The pool itself could have done with a scrub and a clean. However, it is perfectly safe to swim in. 7/10

The room:
Does what it says on the tin, bed was the comfiest hotel bed I’ve ever slept with the added bonus of tea/coffee making facilities, I do like a cuppa when I wake up. 10/10

Breakfast:
The restaurant is set overlooking the Marina and estuary, there is an option to sit outside but if the wind is coming in off the sea it can get a tad “blowy”,
The breakfast itself is buffet style with a massive selection to cater for everyone’s tastes.
The Pastèis de Nata (custard tarts) were to die for as were the freshly baked croissants.
10/10

Would we return?
In a heartbeat, the surrounding town is pretty and quaint (once you get past the graffiti) there are some hidden gems when it comes to eating/drinking, don’t settle for mainstream, go off the beaten track and you will be pleasantly surprised, not only by the tastes but also the costs.
