“Perfect house for a group”
Reviewed July 12, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We had a great time in this is a large property, with ample space for 6 adults and 3 small children. The house was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. The pool was sparkling, the garden beautiful and the views lovely. The house is remote in a rural area, which added to its charm. Marco was accommodating and easy to communicate with before and during our stay. Even though the narrow winding roads were a bit daunting, Marco had given us the co-ordinates and we found the house easily. The only downside was the local dogs barking at night. We spent days exploring the coastal towns of Tavira, Santa Luzia (where one must try the octopus!) Cabanas, Fuseta and Cacela Velha, as well as inland to Loule and Estoi, all within easy driving distance from the house.

Excellent Villa - tucked away in the Portuguese hillside. Highly recommend this beautiful villa. Five adults, one toddler and a dog stayed for 5 nights. We found the villa just outside Estoi and only a short drive from the airport. We only hired one car as we had no plans in travelling far but a car is a necessity. We bought enough food and drink to eat in as the closest restaurants we a car journey away. The villa is very spacious and even though the beds were not as comfy as our own beds they were acceptable. The gardens were beautiful and pool heat is a necessity in March. We used the pool every day. The local dogs were not a problem and one of them became a regular visitor on the scrounge for food. Marco the owner responds to emails straight away and was always very helpful. This is a villa where you can relax and not worry about anything. Looking forward to staying at Valley View in the very near future.

“Excellent villa, beautiful part of the country”

booked via trip advisor/holiday lettings all very easy and great communication with Marco.
travel instructions sent prior to arrival from airport to villa (a few mistakes made which made us go to FARO instead and extended the journey somewhat) ie: coming of the duel carridgeway to join the N2 instructions say to turn right at the roundabout when you need to go round the roundabout and left, also when entering Estoi instructions say right at the church, imediate left and left again then look for a sign but actully you turn left again drive straight for a hie then left a the sign. it realy looks like the back of beyond hen you arrive but communication was good and they even offered to come meet us in Estoi.

the villa was beautiful and much nicer than photos, the views were amazing and it was very well equipped.

the pool although heated???? was not warm at all, i think we felt some luke warm water coming from 1 jet but nothing from the other. we did email but other than Marco saying he would discuss with the maintenance man nothing changed. this really did affect the use of the pool for us with x2 children under 5 it was the case of a quick dip then straight into hot shower. we knew the weather my not be that hot but having purposefully searched for a villa with a heated pool for this reason we felt this was a big disapointment for our holiday. however the pool was lovely and clean.

you definatly need a car as stated, lidl is appox 7km away and lots in local area but no public transport. driving around was easy once we had the use of sat nav though.

the only other thing that could be improved would be the option of a welcome pack - ie: logs/bread/Milk etc as we got lost it was late on arrival and we then had to go back out to find provisions and this would have been much easier after a long day traveling to be able to go in the morning.
also the information pack in the villa is very generic - fire - be careful not to burn ?? no mention of the heated pool, underfloor heating, access to wifi etc which would be nice.

however we would re book again, it really is a stunning location and the space was immense!

“Beautiful, well-equipped, spotlessly clean, peaceful Villa”
Reviewed March 15, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

The booking was really straightforward through the Trip Advisor site, Marco (the owner) responds quickly and gave us directions to the Villa in advance.

We arrived quite late at night (21:30hrs) - the directions from Marco were fairly clear, but we still managed to make a wrong turn or two. I’d recommend trying to plot it on Google Maps/Google Street View before you go.

The electronic gates at the front of the property had been left open for our arrival, so we drove straight in and were greeted by the gentleman who maintains the property and lives downstairs (Marco’s brother-in-law, I think?). He gave us the keys and showed us how to operate the electronic gates.

The Villa itself is beautiful, really stunning. The photos on the website do not do it justice, it’s quite modern and spotlessly clean, with lovely tiled floors and freshly painted walls – and it’s HUGE; the three of us were lost in it, we didn’t use the upstairs floor at all.

The outside areas are beautifully maintained, lovely clean patio, BBQ area, flowerbeds, rockeries and lawn which our 4 year old daughter loved exploring. There are two cute, friendly dogs that live at the property downstairs but they don’t trouble you at all and our daughter loved playing with them on the rare occasions they stopped by.

The swimming pool was crystal clear, and although it was supposedly heated it was freezing cold, (far too cold to use - we travelled in March), I’m sure in the summer months it would be absolutely perfect.

We used the wood burning fire in the evenings - you can get 12 logs from the local Lidl for a few Euros. Lighting the fire was a lovely way to relax in the evening once the spring chill hit the air.

The wi-fi worked well and was quite fast. The dishwasher and washing machine were really useful, we used them both a lot, and there were two big refrigerators in the kitchen that came in handy. We played Pool most days on the billiard table in the lounge and enjoyed having that there. There were a few English language TV channels on the Satellite receiver in the lounge.

Like previous reviewers has commented, you really do need transport to stay here. There is nothing within walking distance at all – no amenities, shops, bars, leisure pursuits, etc. A car is absolutely essential and it’s easy to get to places, once you know the routes. We travelled out to Faro, Albufeira, Portimao, and Vilamoura on various days/evenings. Portimao beach is beautiful and we can highly recommend it.

We had one problem while we were there, so we emailed Marco about it and he responded quickly and resolved it for us while we were still at the Villa before our holiday ended. You can’t complain at that.

All in all, we loved every moment, and can’t wait to go back. Our daughter cried as we drove away to the airport because she didn’t want to leave...

If you’re looking at Valley View Villa, stop considering it and just book it – but don’t try to use the swimming pool in March…. Brrrrr…..

“Excellent Villa”
Reviewed September 25, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Just back from a weeks stay in this great villa with its own private pool. The villa is roomy, and very clean. The BBQ and pool area were out favourite parts. A car is a must to stay at this villa. Town is not far but the roads would not be safe for walking, especially at night. Fantastic views and so quiet. We shall be returning in the near future. Marco (the owner) was easy to deal with.

Great Villa, in a quiet, private location. We had a great holiday here (4 adults and 3 children aged, 8, 11, 11).
Transport is a must as you are not within walking distance of any shops.
The directions from the airport are ok, but I would use google earth/street view prior for a better understanding.
Nena(the dog) is lovely and friendly.
We stopped for 10 days, but we all wished we could have stopped longer. The owner is accommodating (when possible) for early entry/later leaving.
Internet is fast, for the kids social networking/you tube etc.
Villa & pool clean.

A local family owned villa in a wonderfully remote location accessed by a small track. Although we arrived slightly earlier than expected, just one phone call and 10 minutes later we were welcomed by the owners sister and shown around the facilities. Very friendly and polite service and would do anything for you.
The property was situated amongst the hills just outside the small village of Estoi, the four of us were lost in the spacious villa, plenty of bathrooms, pool table, a lovely L-shaped swimming pool, partly lawned garden and beautifully maintained rockery.
You most definitely need a car but Lidls is only a 10 minute drive away and once you have your supplies you can hunker down and enjoy the peacefulness. If you are itching to adventure out more the beach is 25 min drive away, there are the local Milreu Ruins and plenty to see in the nearby towns.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle this is the place to go. The only negative (depending on if you are animal lover) is there seems to be a lot of dogs about, if you cant see them then you can hear them occasionaly talking to each other. Having a dog myself, I can live with that!
