Vila Nova

Just returned from our first week here in Carvoeiro and we have absolutely loved it - all of us miserable at having to come home. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed ground floor apartment that had a double room with en-suite, a twin room and bathroom, a HUGE living area with tv/dvd player and loads of books and games suppied and a lovely kitchen with everything that you could possible need. All of it was SO clean - it really was a home from home. We had gardens on 3 sides and were a minute from the childrens playground and the lovely pool. It was quiet, friendly and beautiful. The poolside bar serves basic (and a bit expensive) snacks during the day but by night is transformed to a fabulous fish restaurant with the most beautiful food and the friendliest of welcomes. A meal for 4 cost e90 with wine, starters, puds and coffee and was worth every bit of it.

Walking down the hill for 10 minutes brings you to a small courtyard with a handful of restaurants (can highly recommend Elliotts) and the steak on a stone was nice but pricey for what you got. There's also a bar there and the kids can run around the courtyard and around the little fountain in full view of parents so nobody has to get bored and everybody is happy.

Carvoeiro beach is beautiful and there's loads of bars and restaurants to choose from in front of it and around the square. Beware the black fronted 'Barco' on the left of the beach (facingt he beach) - rude staff, inflated prices and rubbish food. Opposite and less grand is the Grand cafe with lovely staff and great food - would choose this one everyday

Carvoeiro is sleepy during the day but has a real vibe at night with live music in the square and a real family atmosphere - not for party animals and no clubbing scene - but defo family fun that we can't wait to go back and sample again.

All in all - we had the best holiday - a beautiful resort, great food, and a fabulous welcoming base.....roll on 2013....!!

(and not to be confused with Vilanova in Albufeira!!!!!!)

Please do not let any comments about the above resort put you off. Villa Nova in Carvoeiro is a small friendly complex with a fantastic restaurant on site "Villa Nova", and a lovely size pool that is kept as clean as the grounds it lies in. The staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly. I can't rate it any high enough.

I have been going on and of since I was 14 and am 40 this year!!!!

The photo and most of the reviews are of a completely different resort. Vila Nova Carvoeiro is a small complex tucked away in the village of Carvoeiro. Anyone wanting disco's and manic nightlife will not find it here. The Vila Nova in this review I believe to be in Albuferia and is in a commercial area suitable for teenagers and families who want lots of noise and excitement.
I have asked TripAdvisor to change this. Please read the reviews carefully to see which resort you are looking at . Carvoeiro is a small village with beautiful beaches and lovely restaurants but has only one disco! - hardly a mecca for teenagers and those seeking excitement.
Vila Nova resort Carvoeiro is suitable for all age groups and has a lovely restaurant, small childrens park, pool and shop but consists of only 36 ground and first floor apartments.

p.s. there is no diving board

Stayed here in October for 1 week. The villa was really spacious, clean and contained all that was needed. They do however require a little bit of updating, but this didnt bother us. The pool area is big and has a diving board which seemed to be the main attraction. All the staff seemed really polite and helpful. Because of the time of year we went the weather wasnt brilliant and it wasnt very busy out and about. Great location as the resort is on the main strip and is a short walk to the beach. We ate out most days and every night. Food was nice but became a little repetative as everyone served the same food. Would definately recommend 'steak on the stone' as you cook it yourself, was fun and was the best steak ive ever tasted! In general it did seem a little expensive but this is down to the euro.
For the price we paid would recommend this Vila Resort!

Love this apartment complex. It's small friendly, with one of the best restaurants in town. Apartments are spotless and rooms a very good size and well equipped and maintained. It's a pleasant downhill 15-20 stroll into town.5 euro taxi back.! There is a small on site shop selling fresh bread, milk, water etc. Really handy. If I won the lottery this is where I would buy my family holiday home. Fingers crossed for me!

Just returned from a wonderful week staying at Vila Nova in Carvoeiro. The apartments are spotlessly clean and roomy with most mod-cons. There is a shared pool for the surrounding apartments (which never gets too busy) and a plentiful supply of sun beds and umbrellas. The restaurant run by Anibal serves wonderful fresh food and, at night, is a most relaxing place to eat. You will come across people who have stayed here dozens of times and return year after year.

The apartments are situated towards the edge of Carvoeiro and it is a most pleasant stroll into the centre of Carvoeiro at night (about 30 minutes slow walk). If you are feeling lazy (or have eaten/drunk too much) a taxi back costs approx 5 euros. Carvoeiro itself has a lovely vibrant feel with a huge variety of restaurants and bars (to suit all pockets). The age group of visitors tends to be on the more mature side or young families, as such it is not as raucous a destination as some of the more developed towns on the Algarve; instead it offers a thoroughly enjoyable and fun stay at a slightly slower pace but can keep you occupied well into the early hours is that is your wont.

Note: some of the reviews attached to this destination don't seem to relate to Vila Nova in Carvoeiro but seem to be about somewhere completely different!
