“Peach of a beach.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

One of the prettiest beaches on the Algarve. Lots of interesting rock formations, golden sand and clear blue sea.

“Great Day Hike for the Intrepid!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2013

Attention hiking enthusiasts. If you are staying in Carvoeiro and are looking for an amazing hike you should walk the cliff paths from Carvoeiro to Praia da Marinha. We didn't see this advertised any where, but we're avid hikers and were looking for something like this to do so one morning we set out towards the cliffs to the east to see how far we could go. We were able to follow the cliff path along some really spectacular vistas and hit four beaches and a gigantic sea cave along the way. The route is around 12km round trip, so bring plenty of water and lots of sunscreen and maybe some snacks for the day too. The paths aren't continuous the whole way either but you can easily figure out how to cut through the few discontinuous areas just by looking across to the cliff line in front of you and navigating towards it to rejoin the path. I think we had to cut through one condo complex to reconnect. From the cliff tops you can see the different beaches below and then it becomes a game of trying get to them. All of the beach access points were easy to find except for Praia do Carvalho which we walked right by because it is a hole in the ground with a thirty foot staircase carved through a rock tunnel that spits you out onto the beach. Carvalho is a great place to stop for some excitement because someone carved a ledge into the cliff flanking the beach and you can walk out on the cliff wall a hundred feet or so and do a cliff jump into the ocean from 35 feet up! If you are interested in swimming into a giant see cave you can see the entrance to it a few minutes into the walk from Carvoeiro. The cave is directly behind the Hotel Tivoli and you can get to it if you walk to the front of the hotel and take a path that is to the left of the hotel's entrance as you are looking at it ( goes right by a scuba diving center). The icing on the cake after a long day hike is Praia da Marinha which is pretty spectacular. Marinha has some really cool rock formations out in the water and depending on the tide , you may have to wade into the water to get to parts of it. There is even a small tunnel/cave on this beach too that leads to a private little section of sand. Be on the look out for sea glass amidst the shells and sand. We found tons of it strewn about, green and white too! Start this hike early if you go because you will want plenty of time to stop and play. Happy Hiking.

“Gorgeous beach but car was broken into”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

Stopped off here to go for a lovely clifftop walk. Undoubtedly stunning.Returned after two hours to find someone had broken our rental car's lock with a screwdriver.Only a bag with nothing in it was taken but the car hire company charged us through the roof for the broken lock. I pray we get this back on insurance. Really spoiled everything about the place and the overall holiday. Be warned!

“Beach may be great but difficult to access”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

We visited the beach on a hot October Day.
There is a metal car park with an unmade overflow which had plenty of spaces.
In the car park there was a fruit stall and a kiosk selling boat trips from the beach.
The views were spectacular from the cliffs.
My wide had a problem walking and so we were unable to access the beach of the steps went on and on and on and on. She would have made it down but not back up.Most beaches had steps and some were difficult but this was from and especially high point in the cliffs.
Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulty.

“Beautiful beach!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013

Lovely beach, easy access from the car park to the beach via a sturdy built stairway. There is also a beach bar / restaurant where we stopped for lunch food was fine and the beer was cold!
