As the title suggests, this is a quiet hotel with no hidden extras. The hotel is exceptionally clean. Staff are businesslike, discreet and helpful. Rooms are cleaned every day, always providing you with fresh towels, though be aware that the cleaning staff are very keen to start work on your room as soon as you have had breakfast!

There is a good sized outdoor "ornamental" pool 1m deep all round, with plenty of sunbeds, and no fighting over poolside position - could do with a few more sunbed tables though, and perhaps a more adventurous approach to catering. There is also a small 1m deep indoor heated pool, jaccuzi and sauna - all with showers and toilets. Immaculately clean.

Not much happens in the hotel by way of entertainment and the TVs in the rooms have limited channel choice,(e.g.BBC World Service is the only all-English speaking channel). However, plenty of pubs with TVs in the main street, and some restaurants have them as well.

There is no pressure to have evening meals, mainly one suspects because Carvoiero has so many restaurants, snack bars and pubs which are keen to get your business and they are all within 10 minutes walk of the hotel mostly offering good value and large portions. I would recommend the excellent Marisquiera family run restaurant for your first lunch which is just to the left up the hill from the entrance of the hotel. It is also worth making the journey to restaurants in Monte Carvoiero . Most are marked on a good free map which you can pick up in the hotel's luggage room, where you will also find a good wee library of books, if you are stuck for something to read.

As for Carvoiero itself ,it is essentially the main street which runs down the hill to the right of the hotel to the main town square and beach. The remainder of the town and its pockets of development are spread out over quite a wide area. Worth spending 3 Euros to explore it all in daylight on the town's very own Road Train which also goes to Ferragudo on Tuesdays and Fridays (10 Euro). Main beach is a little cramped but there is free entertainment in the square close to the beach every night. There are other cove beaches in the area, but they are a bit of a trek to get to. Good taxi service, but if going by bus to Silves, (Charming old Moorish town with its own castillo) need to change at Lagoa - probably quicker and not much more expensive to take a taxi to Lagoa bus station.

In summary, Mirachoro Hotel is a good place to stay if you want a quiet place to get a good sleep but enjoy the benefits of varied activities and eateries in and around this smaller Algarve resort .

As other reviewers have said, this hotel is probably better described as a decent 3 star then 4 star, but it represents excellent value for money. The rooms are clean and comfy, the air con is efficient, sun beds are fab as they have their own sun shades attached. Pool area is lovely, breakfasts plentiful and perfect location. We found it quiet at night even though it was so near the centre of the resort. Generally the staff are very pleasant. We'd definitely go again.
Carvoeiro is a great base for an Algarve holiday but do hire a car for a few days - the beaches nearby are stunning but apart from the main beach, only Alga Seco is within walking distance. And don't miss Silves and Monchique!

This hotel is down as a 4* but realistcally I think it reates at about 2*. The staff are all friendly and helpful although it appears that the same 8 front of house staff seem to be "jack of all trades". The Hotels decoration seems tired but functional and the pool area is lovely with new comfy sunbeds. The room was small with an old CRT TV and limted channels, limited wardrobe space and few hangers. bed was comfy although very firm but we slept well on it. The bathroom needs upgrading with few cracked tiles, a new shower curtain required but lashhings of hot water available when needed-well cleaned daily. The breakfast was great with something to meet everyones taste.
The location is perfect just 10 mins stroll from the town and with the excellent Villa Medici Italian Restauraunt opposite. Loads of other great eating places all within a 10 minute walk too. Happys, run by the mad dutchman was a great evening although you need to book. NB dont go here if you cant take the banter though! O Indiano was well worth a visit with excellent food and service,
Although this review may seem critical of the hotel we had a great time and still feel the accomodation was value for money and we are already looking to rebook for a return visit in September.
