The Rosamar 1 is still the best for us and thank you by the way for the bottle of Port for Cindy's Birthday, much appreciated. See you in September hopefully. Big Obrigado to the excellent maids who provide a wonderful service.

Hello again to all our friends in Armacao de pera. Peter and Denise who own Bar Ries (John's Bar), Manuel and Anne (Kippis Bar) and new to Armacao, a big Dias Muire Duibh to Eamon and Joanne who have just opened the Old Road Irish bar, give them all some custom.

Portugal Armacao De Pera
Apartments Rosamar 1
Reviewer Tripadvisor from N.I.
Date 18th May 2008

Got a cheap holiday for my husband and myself and flew from Dublin. Apartments great value a bit dated but very clean. Staff very helpful. One bedroom living / kitchen with a terrace TV and bathroom with shower. Armacao de pera is11klm from Albufeira can get by bus or taxi. Please note streets are tiled and can be slippery especially when wet. Bring footwear with a good thick sole or you could be one of the bandaged people. Lovley seafood down by the harbour area and there is an Irish Bar just opened called The Old Road do give them some trade. Food and wine is cheap to buy in the resturants or go to the supermarket and stock up and shoes and handbags are very reasonable. There is a farmers market and the fruit and veg is wonderful.

Hotel
It was a nice, clean hotel, staff friendly and helpful. It was a pleasant experience. I would go back there again.

Resort
Sea food was excellent and relatively cheap. People (natives and tourists) were civilised, no drunkards, no fighting, no rowdies shouting, a nice calm place , in a word , civilised.
Beach
The sand can move from under your feet with the current of the sea. You can find yourself out of your depth if you are not careful. Because of this you get the impression, correctly perhaps, that the sea bed floor beneath you is very uneven. The beachs here in ireland are consisently flat but of course we have no sun.
Find your own spot. I paid 24euro to rent four plastic beds and two "shade covers" (PLEASE NOTE, YOU WILL GET BURNED THROUGH THE COVERS, I DID, I WAS NOT WEARING SUN CREAM, I THOUGHT THE SHADE OF THE COVER WAS ENOUGH, IN AUGUST IT IS NOT, IT IS 100F. WEAR YOUR TAN CREAM LOTION IF YOU ARE OUTSIDE). if you find your own spot you can BUY chairs and a parasol in the shops for about 25/30 euro and use it for the two weeks and just leave them behind you.
Saturday Market
Loule is garbage. If you want clothes pegs, fans, cheap bric a brac and a walk around a dusty field then dont miss it.

the rosamar is like home from home. its clean, friendly, not too expensive to stay there and has a beautiful pool which is very safe for young children and is situated in a quiet area across from the hotel. The beautiful white sandy beach is just yards away from the front door of the hotel. ther are plenty of bars and restaurants close by in particulat the waterdog (Hi Charlie) and Don Ruans (Hi Paulo and Antonio). stroll along the beach front and shop till you drop for souviners in the many shops along the way. The cobble stoned pedestrian shopping street is full of shops and bars. The best place to finish off your night out is at Kippies, Manel and Anna will make you very welcome here. It is a Kareoke bar and stays open till late(very late). My brother actually got married from the rosamar so all the family were there and we had a great time. This was not my first time in Armacoe but it was my first at the rosamar(my brother and his family go at least three times a year) I plan to go back next july and hopefully for many years to come. Children are welcome everywhere you go.

Nice clean hotel. Room was clean. Maids came every day. Bar was useless very drab. Used the don Ruan most nights, Antonio & paulo were very friendly, great entertainment most nights, the Tina Turner show is fantastic. The waterdog was another good bar great food there. On the whole it was quite expensive in Armacao de pera compared to the costas.

Ended up at this hotel after buying a last minute ?99 self cating deal from the Internet and was very pleased. The 1 bed room apartment was a very good size and we have a balcony in both the bedroom and in the longue area. The kitchen was quiet small, but very well stocked. The whole apartment was very dated, but this didn't really matter as for ?99 each, including flights and tranfers, me a my wife really could not have wished for anything more. When we arrived we where greeted at reception by a very helpfully lady and then a young man took are luggage and showed us to are room. During the stay the staff where alway willing to help with all the queries we had from posting are postcards to telling us places to visit. We have been to Portugal since, as we liked it so much, but to honest paying the extra to stay at a 4 star hotel really was not worth it as the Rosamar had everything you good need and located in the lovely town of Armacao de Pera. Don't expect a 5 star hotel or something modern, but for the price you will not be disappointed. Clean, tidy and practical.
