“our honeymoon 2009”
Reviewed June 9, 2010

Albufeira is a beautiful place,, with a beautiful beach. the old town is really nice, the restaurants are quite dear although there was one little dutch place we went to which did the most amazing ribs all you can eat and they were the best ribs id ever eaten. We did a trip to the Moniquie Mountains and Portemio but i could really recommend it as they rushed us we only got twenty minutes there before driving again,,, and then they left us in the town and there was nothing in it.. mostly just driving. so always check out the trips before booking them. I would def go back to Portugal but in July or August as it rained 2 days in June.

“The best family restaurant in town!”
Reviewed May 17, 2010

We were in Albufeira for a week from 6 - 13 April 2010. The weather was heavenly - warm, dry and sunny! We found the 'tourist train' to be very useful, particularly good if you plan to use it all day to get around (3.50 euro per adult per day). The tourist train runs from the Old Town to 'The Strip' via a third drop off/pick up point near the 2 supermarkets.

While using the tourist train we came across a highly recommended family restaurant. It is located on 'The Strip' and is called Fredis. You'll spot it quite easily sitting on a corner with a green conservatory area and a red sign. We ate there on 6 nights and always found the food to be excellent, the service very friendly and attentive, and the owner Miguel a true gentleman. I can't really recommend one particular dish as everything we tried was beautiful. The kebabs, peppered steak, paella, piri-piri chicken were all excellent - we were spoilt for choice! The kids meals were always well received and disappeared every night. Children were particularly made very welcome and included in all conversations at the table.

Another two places we found were Ricks Bar on the strip (they do lovely sandwiches, toasties, chips etc for lunch). If you fancy a cheap beer try the street bar next to Destination Football, just up from Fredis on the strip. Open in the afternoon, again the staff were very friendly and attentive (and a pint was 1.50 euro).

We loved Albufeira and hope to get back next year for ice cold beer, sun, and food at Fredis!!!! If you're in Fredis, tell Miguel that Megan says hello!!! Can't fault this restaurant in any way.

“My favourite holiday place ever!”
Reviewed April 2, 2010

Albufeira is like a tale of 2 cities, you have the new part (the strip or Montechorro) and the old town. There s something for everyone there to enjoy. I myself being a more mature traveller prefer the old town, especially walking round the square of an eveing with all the bars, restaurants and entertainments in the streets. There is a wonderful atmosphere, never any trouble or drunks, its just a lovely comfortable place to holiday in. The portuguese people are among the nicest in europe, nothing is too much trouble for them, they are humourous and patient, and above all they value their customers. Each time I go there, I find another restaurant or bar that ive never been to before, as Albufeira spreads out quite widely. All in all an ideal holiday place for young and old!

“Albufeira - great experience”
Reviewed September 25, 2009

Probably lots of people know Albufeira as one of the famous places in Algarve. Well it is very good and there are lots of things to do around. When you are there try to visit as many beaches as you can as they are all different. I will recommend Praia da Falesia( very big and lots, lots of sand - you can write your name on sand rocks ) & Praia do Carvalho ( I think that’s the name - used to be a private beach ). A must visit place is Zoomarine and at least one of the 3 water parks. Don't miss Vilamoura as well (quite a posh place with lots of restaurants, yachts, golf & casinos).

In 2 words a must visit place.
