“5 star Hotel, in a very, very quiet area”
Reviewed June 23, 2010

Amazing hotel in a small fishing village - about a ten minute drive from the main centre of Albufeira.
Not many English people at hotel and not many england footie shirts. which is what we wanted.
The surrounding area - have other nice hotels. The RIU hotel being nearby. But the actual village, a five minute walk, where the restaurants are is a bit run down but okay. Fratellis' pizza restaurant at the bottom of the hill is great and reasonable.
The pool is fantastic. Plenty of sunloungers to go around. Also there are a few oversize bean bags lying on the grass behind the pool that can be used to lounge around on. make great pillows for some afternoon chillin'!
pool cleaned everyday.
Snack bar great - a bit expensive - but you get what you pay for. lovely to sit in our outside.
Staff very helpful.
The rooms were very clean buy i found the bed uncomfortable. Shower nice. Bathrooms have soaps and shampoos for guests to use.
There is a small tabby cat that hangs around the pool area. friendly. he doesn't belong to the hotel though.
Internet a bit expensive. .20 euros for a minute. 1 euro for five minutes. this for the standard of the hotel should be complimentary.
The indoor spa and hot tub is nice but if you want to use the steam room and sauna you have to pay. this again, i feel should be included in price of a hotel stay.
Breakfast was lovely. sausage, bacon, eggs, toast, cereal, fruit. good selection of food.
if you wanted to eat at night but wasn't half board you had to pay 22 euros. this i felt to be expensive.
the steps weren't too bad a walk down to the beach - nice big steps.
6.50 euros to rent two sunbeds for half and day or 15 euros for the whole day.
if you want a nice quiet holiday with no football hooligans than i recommend this hotel.

Thank you very much for your friendly review. We will try to keep it nice and quiet. We are up-grading bed confort with a special pad / cushion over the matress which will make it softer, one more reason to book your next visit to Algarve. Best regards, Fernando Reis Filipe

I would point out the reception services - they always had all the answers ready for everything at any time, congratulation, and the restaurant staff - great job!
I won't even lose words on the location - simply amazing!
Would definitely go back or choose again the Porto Bay in another destination!

We have just spent a wonderful week here. Our thanks go to all the staff who exceeded all expectations and gave this hotel more of a 5 star rating than a 4. The food was excellent with a variety of choice, buffet style. More than enough beds around the pool and lawn areas. We were glad we paid extra for a sea view room on the 5th floor as the views were spectacular. The 100 odd steps down to the beach are very wide and looked newly laid and did not present a problem but we could see this as a down side for the less able. For a quiet relaxing holiday away from the hustle & bustle highly recommended. If you want night life, buses & taxi's to Aberfura are cheap and within easy reach. Search out the Black Cat bar if you like 50’s, 60’s music and a host with character and within walking distance of the hotel. Our thanks must also go to the Thomson/First Choice reps who were fantastic and the walkabout they organised around Olhos DeAgua was superb.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Porto Bay Falesia.Had a really enjoyable and relaxing holiday.Hotel in lovely grounds with fantastic views over the cliffs to the beach. The staff were very polite and friendly, and rooms , lounges ,dining areas ,out side areas including the pool were very clean. There was a good variety and choice on the buffet , both breakfast and evening meal.As hotel filled there was a slight delay in the restaurant service due to shortage of staff.Hotel was in a lovely area in the fishing village of Olhas D'Agua .a quite location Close enough to the more lively areas if required by bus or taxi.
Well worth visiting is the nearby Zoomarine, where you see dolphin shows plus sealion, birds of prey and parrot shows and many other attractions. If you book and pay extra you get the opportunity to swim with the dolphins.A fantastic experience according to my Husband!!
Would happily return to the hotel for another visit.

We have just returned from a stay at this hotel and were very pleased with our choice. Located in a small complex it has an outstanding aspect overlooking the beach and cliffs. A short walk down some steps takes you to the beach and some spectacular views. A walk to Vilamoura is possible along this beach, about 2 hours. The hotel is clean, good rooms and restaurant with excellent service.Trips to the surrounding areas are available and worth going on, although the tour operators are expensive, give the Ticket shop a go or try the taxis.
The bars and restaurants are good but try the Portugese one, Pinoquio, as they are better value.
