Facilities show a pool bar - not open, childrens facilities - none other than very, very small pool, wifi internet - only available in reception and not good, gym - none, shown as albufeira - a good 40 minute walk to nearest beach and you could not walk to Albufeira - 20-25 minutes by car!!! Only a couple of bars and a hand full of restaurants within walking distance. On road that is noisy if you get an outside apartment. There is nothing to do at these apartments except use as a base and get a hire car. Two pools with sunbeds but bar not open and small childrens pool. Only have two bedroomed apartments on first floor so not convenience for families if you have pushchairs, etc., to carry, as well as toddlers. Find it difficult to say anything good other than apartments quite large and quite well equipped, although our balcony was pathetic - only a chairs width - and who wants to sit out looking at a road!! Beds very hard and uncomfortable.

We are just back from a weeks stay here and have to say it was super! We arrived at 00.30 and had to call a half hour before we arrived to have someone meet us. We hadn't booked a transfer so had to pay €60 taxi fare that took a half hour from faro airport. We made sure to book a shuttle on the "resorthoppa" website for €7 per person for our return journey back to Faro airport. Be sure to look into it a few days before as it has to be booked 24hrs in advance! Renting a car is highly recommended!!

The resort is spotless and the service was the best. Fresh towels every day, beds made and rubbish emptied. A couple of things that were a little hindrance...1- although the apartment sleeps 4 just myself and my partner went and the main bedroom had 2 single beds pushed together not a double. Very uncomfortable for the cuddles. The sitting room had a small couch-bed with a very thin mattress also not very comfortable so if it's a couples holiday be sure to request a double bed! 2- The cooker only had two of the four hobs working and no oven so everything had to be fried. We coped okay as there was only two of us but if there was four i can imagine it being very inconvenient.

The pools were fantastic so clean with lots of deck-chairs and parasols. The bar was also spotless with three computers with internet access and live entertainment at the weekends also Miguel makes the best Sangria's in the Algarve :) There is a little supermarket across the road with everything to could need and very reasonably prices and also a ATM machine round the corner. Overall a very relaxing and pleasant experience and would recommend:)

Room Tip: ask for double bed apartment if traveling as couple.

The accommodation was very good with plenty of room and quite well equipped. We had a poolside apartment which is much better as there is quite a lot of traffic noise on the outer apartments. The complex is really pleasant and clean, both pools have ample sunbeds and parasols.
There are only 2 other bars apart from the one attached to the complex (Littrus Bar) within walking distance, all of them serve snacks. There are also 2 restaurants close by both of which serve really good food, our preference was the "Girrasol Restaurant" this was run by a very friendly couple. The beach is a good 35 minutes brisk walk away so a car would be handy. The local buses run on time and will take you to Albufeira (about 3 Euros per person) but do not run very often, but taxis are plentiful (10 Euros)
Overall the complex was very good, although a bit isolated perhaps more bars/restaurants will open later in the season.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms are quieter away from traffic noise

As resident in the country side we already twice rent an appartment after a food and wine pairing event in restaurant A Casa do Avó . The price is very reasonable for quality and the staff was so sympatic to give us the same appartment on request.
We got help immediately to regulate the airconditioning.
There are different options to rent (even to buy) for singles, couples and bigger families.
The beds are not the softest in our opinion but for others this can be a positive point and reason to spend holiday here.
It is not a 5 star complex but cleaner than some luxury hotels.
The swimming pool is big and the gardens with plumosa palmtrees are well entertained.
Looking forward for next stay there.

We stayed at JVP in 2009 and enjoyed it so much when we were looking for a few days break in Feb we had no hesitation in returning.Arrived to a friendly welcome and were told that we had been upgraded to an apartment with pool view. The standards we remembered from the 2009 visit had been maintained, very clean and as much kitchen equipment as you would ever need(most of it new)even a washing machine. The only downside as others have mentioned is it's a hike to the beach,we always hire a car from Economycarhire free parking on site and even got an upgrade from them.Shops,Restaurants and a bar all within a two minute walk, take care as the roads around complex are a bit busy.Gale beach is the best known but down most of the side roads another superb beach is waiting to be discovered.

We had a one week stay last September at this little gem of a place. It is a perfect self catering base if you intend to hire a car and want a home from home in the sun. The apartments are clean and functional, the pools quiet and welcoming and Vale De Parra is a really nice little town which needs to be discovered but not by too many because it might just spoil it.

It's well worth a visit, we will definitely be back.

Tips. 1) You need a car. 2) Don't go expecting a 5 star hotel, be realistic. 3) Ignore the negative reviews, some people make me laugh with their expectations.

We have recently stayed for a two week holiday and found it fairly basic in apartment facilities, the bathrooms are modern in design but need a general spruce-up (Tile grouting dingy and the floor floods when using the bath/shower, shower curtain in need of a holiday) but the linen was superb.
They claim to have Satalite TV but for English speaking guests there was only CNN and a very intermittent Sky news (it worked for two minutes and then vanished for the next ten minutes) they have no oven in the kitchen but the microwave has a grill/oven option.
The pools and grounds are excellent but there is little for children other than the pool to occupy (No means of kids tv or dvd entertainment) unless the kids learn Portuguese.
Overall we had a great holiday but dined out mostly and there are some really good local restaurants and beaches to visit and the staff are really helpful and hard working.
