We were staying in a suite at Pine Cliffs Residence. The apartment's kitchen was very well equipped and the place was comfortable. He had plenty of space either indoor ant in the balcony with table for meals and chairs for sun bathing. I thing is too much for a young couple like us, but perfect for families.
The decor has quality, but try to be a little summer house and is therefore less well done aspects as sofa, but it's still quite nice. Air conditioning is quite old and does a lot of noise so you can not sleep with it on. The cleanliness was no very good, they replace the soap, but not the body lotion and some thing were not very well done.
At 5pm we seek a place to eat so we went to the "day restaurant", the only opened from 10 am to 8 pm, the club house, but it had already closed the kitchen, despite the restaurant only close in an hour. So between 5pm and 8pm, when "the night restaurant" opens, there is no place to eat at the hotel. The breakfast room has plenty of variety and the chef has to prepare the eggs. Very good.
I thing it's more then average, but very good is a bit more then you'll find.

For our first holiday with two young children (ages 1 yrs and 3 yrs old) we were slightly aphrehensive about our holiday and how relaxing it would be.
We stayed in a two bedroom garden apartment in the hotel grounds. The apartment was lovely, clean and well laid out. It was cleaned/towels refreshed on a daily basis and also had turn down service.
The restaurants were very nice, some better than others and everywhere we went we had great service, and the children were catered for. The childrens menu was available everywhere and each resturant had highchairs, the staff were all great with the children too.
The only restaurant which we really didnt enjoy was the buffet restuarant which was apalling and we could not believe was part of this lovely hotel. We left half way through our meal as there was nothing that we wanted to eat, and everything we tasted was horrible.
The fish restuarant was amazing and the other restaurants were all good.

We didnt leave our children in the kids club as our youngest was too young and it was really expensive to send our eldest (over 60 euros for a morning session), but it looked good. We were able to go to the Porto Pirate area where the children could play in a sandpit, on a bouncy castle and there were some swings and small bicycles. This area wasnt as good as it sounded on the website, but still somewhere to take the children to make a change from the swimming pool.

The main swimming pool by our apartment was lovely and although lots of children I did mange to have a 'quiet' swim at lunchtime whilst mine were napping in our apartment with my husband. It was also lovely having some outside space from our apartment (this wasnt exclusive to us) but nice grassy area for children to play on.
The grounds at the Pine Cliffs were beautiful and our aparment were lovely and we did end up having a relaxing holiday there as the staff everywhere made it so easy with two young children.

I would definitley recommend this hotel/resort.

The Pine Cliffs are golf condos and townhouses attached to the Sheraton Algarve Hotel, which was closed for renovations. Beautiful grounds designed for local character. Our "golf suite" was a spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bath flat higly decorated and still in great condition but a bit dated in style. The 2 bedroom is also available as a 2 story unit. Great balcony, golf view. Not close to the beach. Marble and tile master bath with huge deep tub. Granite kitchen counters. Combination washer/dryer included. Two pools, plus the hotel outdoor pool, its indoor pool, spa facilities. When open, the hotel has many restaurants and an elegant bar with live entertainment every night from 7:30 PM.
Fabulous children's playground featuring a big pirate ship with climbable riggings. The private beach cove is beautiful; there's an elevator to take you down the cliff but you still
have a ways to go over the boardwalk and steps to get to the sea. The beach restaurant was still open. The included breakfast buffet in the Golf Clubhouse was an especially nice one. The whole complex is just beautiful. The onsite restaurant prices are high, but is is easy to go to one of the modest but good restaurants directly across the street from the Sheraton/Pine Cliffs entrance. There is also a supermarket across from the entrance, although you will pay convenience store prices. If doing some sightseeing, I would recommend Silves highly with the Moorish castle, very old church, and non touristy village where it is possible to drive right up to the main stuff, no high parking charges or tourist jerking around. Monchique, on the other hand, is not worth the bother.
Loule market on Saturday morning is worthwhile. Avoid at all costs going into Albufeira's Old Town or really any of Albufeira. It is the worst tacky tourist hell ever.

Wow! - A well equiped apartment within a pukka 5-star hotel. You can use all the pools, take the lift to the spectacular beach, and generally enjoy the well kept grounds. There is also a gym, a business centre and a medical treatment centre (useful if you have kids). The hotel's restaurants are a bit pricey - so it's great to have the option of cooking a few meals in the well-equiped kitchen. Also, if you have a car, there are several good restaurants nearby. The staff are vey good - especially Hugo, who went out of his way to help us. We will return!

We have just returned from two fantastic weeks at the Pine Cliffs Residence. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments with our two young children (2.5 yrs and 9 months). The apartment was ideal with all the facilities we could need - plenty of space, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer and even CBeebies on the TV! We paid the extra supplement for a ground floor apartment which we thought quite steep at 40 euro per day, but we were worried about our toddler and the balcony (she likes to climb!) and also thought the terrace would be nice to sit out on in the middle of the day while the kids napped. It was great and the terrace looked out on a large green space where our daughter enjoyed running through the trees and the sprinklers!

The one gripe I would have is the price of a cot. We have stayed in numerous hotels with kids and have rarely paid for a cot, and when we have it's cost no more than a nominal fee of about 5 euro. In the Pine Cliffs Residence they wanted to charge us 14 euro per night! We decided instead to hire one from a local baby equipment rental company (www.tinas-holidayextras.com) which worked very well.

The facilities on the resort were great. The train was a great way of getting around, although it took a break in the evening at a time when we could have done with it! With two small kids we liked to eat early but the first evening train wasn't until 7.20pm which was a bit annoying. The kids area at Porto Pirata was good. We didn't use the kids club at all but it was great to be able to bring the kids to the play area anyway - our daughter particularly enjoyed the bouncy castle!

The beach was lovely but quite a trek with two small kids so we actually only went twice during our two week stay. The first time we brought our sleeping baby down in the buggy but it proved awkward - especially when our toddler wanted to be carried back up the steps on the return journey! The beach itself is fantastic and would be brilliant with older kids.

The swimming pools were great - the kids pool at the golf club is heated and almost like a bath it's so warm - handy on the days that weren't as sunny! We ate in a few of the places on site - the O Grill at the Pine Cliffs (although it closes at 6ish in September), the Corda Cafe at the hotel, the restaurant at the beach and the Piri Piri restaurant at the main entrance. We particularly enjoyed the Piri Piri. They were all great for kids too. We also ate at a few of the restaurants outside the resort - Antonios across the road was excellent and the Lagostera (about 500m from the main entrance) was lovely. The restaurants outside the resort were much better value, similarly the supermarket just across from the main entrance was much cheaper than the onsite deli but that's to be expected at a 5 star resort!

All in all we'd give the resort a huge thumbs up and we'd definitely recommend it, and we'll certainly consider going back ourselves - maybe even next year!

If you're travelling with young kids like us and want a resort holiday where everything is on your doorstep then this is the holiday for you. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment at the Pine Cliff Residence and had a lovely time. Views from apartment were fantastic! Each room had it's own balcony the main bedroom balcony was gorgeous (see photo). We were very comfortable there. The kitchen has all applicances you could wish for from dishwasher, washing maching, tumble drier (very handy with the kids). And applicances are all very top of the range.

The resort is huge with a number of different type accomodations. From what I could see the Residence looked the best to me and will def book this again if we go back. It's set amongst the most beautiful views of the golf course but it is at the far side of resort - see below. The fantastic thing is each hotel/accomodation on resort has it's own pool and so you have access to a number of pools. So to vary it we went to a different pool everyday. The pool by the Casa Pine Cliffs is the best. It's huge and has lovely views. The Sheraton's pool is also very nice. If you're lucky enough to get some sunbathing time with the kids the area in front of Sheraton on the grass overlooking the beach and cliffs is just beautiful.

Restaurants. The resort has numerous restaurants. The resort seems to have a standard kids menu which they have at each restaurant which is great and includes all the usual favourites eg pasta, fish fingers or chicken nuggets with chips, and they do veg or salad with it as well so you don't feel guilty that they're just eating loads of junk. And then of course they all do wonderful ice cream counters which is always a winner. From adults point of view food is OK - it is on pricey side so you may want to do one meal out and then one in the apartment which is what we did. The Beach Club is very nice and does a gorgeous salad buffet. Also a lunch or drinks at the Club House is a must - views are beautiful. All the main restaurants are sitauted in and around the Sheraton. We tried the seafood restaurant - service was unfortunatley appalling we ended up waiting around 1 hour for our food and it was OK. The italian was quite nice food. On some nights we did actually do room service which was great - they delivered it in sweet little hampers and set it all up for us so we had our own little restaurant experience in the apartment while the kids slept (saving babysitting costs!) There's no way you can use the baby monitor and go out on this resort - everything is just too far away for monitor to be able to work. We did use a baysitter for one night and we were happy. The hotel don't have babysitting staff but reommend a babysitting company which you have to phone and organise yourself. You would expect a hotel of this size to have babysitters amongst their staff (particularly as they have such a large children's club (see more on children's club below) or at least to arrange this for you. But having said that the company they recommended were very professional and we were more than happy - the babysitter was a mum of 3 herself and even tidied up the kids mess while we were gone which was great!

Another must is the champagne bar at sunset - lovely cocktails and gorgeous views.

The children's playground - well it is a kiddies paradise really. They have a massive pirate ship, bouncy castle, swing, slide, bikes/trikes/scooters, drawing and a little mini golf course - have to pay a fee to play. Great place to spend some time as an alternative to beach and pool. It's great that parents can still bring their kids to the playground and they can use all facilities and supervise them themselves - have been to some holidays where if you're not booked into club kids your kids cannot play at the children's club. We didn't actually book the kids in for the club itself. It seemed fun enough for kids although I did overhear one kid saying to their parent that they don't really vary the activities much. A family we met had come with a group called Scott Dunn who said they were very happy with the children's club they ran - they even took the kids to a local water park and I often saw them on the grounds playing tennis and other sports with the kids.

My husband got a 3 day pass for the golf which he was very happy with. The pass meant that each day you played you could play as many times as you wanted and it included the club and golf shoes hire - which was great as meant we could travel down without having to drag his golf clubs too. He enjoyed the golf course and some of the day managed a game in the morning and evening. He said it wasn't too full. In fact they even allowed my elder one (4 yrs old) to accompany him on the driving range and have a few shots.

The staff on the resprt are very friendly and helpful and very good towards the kids.

I managed to use the gym while here. It's quite small but has all the necessary equipment. I was not impressed with sauna and steam room area as it was quite flooded with water from shower. Hopefully this was just an issue when I went and not a regular problem as otherwise it's quite a nice little area for some relaxation - steam room especially.

So here are the negatives: 1. the on site mini supermarket is a rip off! Things are completely over-priced. And do not make the mistake we did which was to order fish and meat at their fresh deli counter. We ended up paying around 80 euros for a portion that would not cost anymore than 20-30 gbp at a supermarket over here if that. Ridiculous. You're better off paying the taxi fare (if you don't have a hired car like us) to go to a supermarket off the resort to stock up 2. the beach gets very packed very quickly and it's hard to find sunbeds especially ones at the front where you can relax while keeping an eye on the kids. And anyway even if you do get one at front there is a steep sandy slope upto sunbeds which is irritating when trying to run back and forth to sunbeds with kiddies buckets, snacks, suncream etc or tring to climb while holding an unhappy toddler! Also although there is a lift going down to the beach level from the resort there is a long walk down numerous steps to get to it from the lift. Which is fine if it's just yourself. But when carrying tired children and all their beach toys it's not fun at all. You def have to leave the baby's pram outside lift (don't make mistake we did on first day to beach of taking it all way down steps!!). Pack beach toys in compact light bag that they can carry themselves!! 3. Yes the resort is a little on big side and quite a walk if you're allocated an apartment like us right at the far end of resort but the walks are gorgeous as apartments situated amongst the golf grounds so we really didn't mind the walks and had buggy for toddler. The older one did whinge about the walking but an ice cream along the way kept him quiet! In most instances though if you're organised with you're timing you can get the little trains that go around the resort every half hour which we found very useful and the kids loved. And if you use the train compartment at the back of the train you can lift the pram in without having to take them out and fold it down etc. Another thing we discovered you can press the train bell at any point of the journey (not just at the train stops) and it will stop for you save you having to walk back from stop.

On the whole a holiday with the kids is always going to be a challenge and never 100% relaxing. But we found the resort to be beautiful and lots of fun for the kids. I would def recommend it to family with young kids.

Had a great time at the Pine Cliffs resort, was very impressed by how well upkept all the plants were and the cleanliness of the resort. We were always surrounded by beautiful flowers and lush grassy areas to walk through. There was no shortage of pools, so we could easily find a place to swim alone if we swam at the right times. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The resort in general is extremely family friendly, so every second person is pushing a stroller, but it's also so huge that you can easily get away from any screaming children! I'm not a golfer, but if you are then you would enjoy the beautiful golf course. The food at the resort's restaurants was delicious, but if your travelling in a group, make sure you're ready to drop a couple of hundred euros per meal as I felt at times I had to be a millionaire just to eat. Just across the street from Pine Cliffs is a cleverly placed supermarket with prices that will empty your bank account in a hurry, so if you're up for the 3 mile walk to the nearest other supermarkets on each side of the resort, you could save hundreds on your trip. I was highly disappointed about the indoor pool, as we wanted to swim in it, but then read we had to use a swim cap, which is embarressing enough to wear, but you also have to pay 4.5 Euros for the privilege of buying one! Something that made us laugh was a silly train that drives around some parts of the resort, which we never caught, but when you walk by it the driver always rings the bell! We stayed in one of the golf suites and it was very nice and roomy, but they didn't even provide a robe with slippers, which would often be complimentary items at less luxurious resorts. We also had a washing machine but they don't provide any washing soap. Other than that we very much enjoyed our time there, and plan to return in the future!
