“cheap an cheerful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

If you just want cheap an cheerful but clean and friendly this is perfect .about 15 apartments refurbished ours overlooked the pool. Very pretty pool area actually lovely flowers .
Very nice cosy pool bar area a bit carribean.
Its close to the strip so quite lively but its tucked out of the way.
The reception guy is called Salvatore he is really helpful . Ask him anything ..
The crowd was good here a bit of a mix.
We travelled here cheaply using ryan air and a transfer company called yellow fishtransfers com as we saw them mentioned on trip advisor must say they were very good.
For couples as we were this is a great cheap but good place to base yourself

This place is excellent for its location (as long as you are not lazy), it is close to 'the strip' (8-10 mins) restaurants ( 5 mins), bars ( 5 mins), almost next door to the supermarket, and not a bad walk to the beach (15-20 mins). Old town is a mere 20-30 mins stroll and well worth it. Along the way you will find an internet cafe near McDonalds that is 1.50 euro for a session (for those who cant bare to be away from the internet) so as long as your bum is on that seat that's all it will cost you!

It is also excellent for the staff there, they were fabulous, very helpful and have excellent english. We went for 14 days at the end of October and although its deemed as 'all year sun' there was not a lot to do at this actual accomodation (no entertainment - bar shuts at 6pm) nor along the strip, you can find kind of mundane stuff to do around like coach trips etc . Its always worth leaving the booking of these until the day before or the actual day as they reduce the prices at this time of year, but all the proper tourist attractions had finished. The supermarket is very well priced but not very english, wouldn't recommend buying a cucumber, they are very bizarre and prawns wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to expensive!

It was our 1st trip to Portugal and found it very simular priced to the UK, cigs were approx £40 for 200 ( a bit cheaper), it was about £10 a head to eat out and all except chicken was expensive to buy, red wine on the other hand can be bought for 3.98 euro's for 5 litres at the supermarket next door - get in!!

The weather was rubbish unfortunately, only 4 sunny days out of the 14 and we didn't get a tan!

I would HIGHLY reccommend if you are going to Lageado Sol for your holiday and arriving after 6pm to email or telephone them 1st as we arrived about 9.30pm and the place was in darkness, there was no contact number on the door and the advertised number outside didn't work - fortunately a couple staying there came back and let us in allowing us to access the numbers INSIDE to call to get our keys.

The room was lovely, I have to say tho - why do these places not have double beds???? The kitchen wasn't badly equipped although NO OVEN. My other half is a coeliac so we took, bread, baguettes etc but could not cook them without an oven, slightly dissapointing. You do however have a microwave, 2 hob rings, a toaster, kettle and a filter coffee machine as well as plates, cups, cutlery, glasses etc etc.We were in a studio (A7) The balcony was a little small and over looked some waste ground but the living/bedroom was spacious and the bathroom was a good size too. The hot water was a bit like a small emmersion heater, luckily we were just two people and could both take a maximum 4 minute shower each then it would run cold.

All in all it did feel like it was our own private villa ( not many people there) so if you want a quiet retreat, total relaxation and plenty of cheap wine this is the place.

Happy Holidays!!!

PS: The pool is not heated.

Room Tip: We found that people in rooms starting with a 'B' got a pool view

for anyone wanting to stay in albufeira, and avoid the usual rowdiness of some resorts, this is the place to stay, situated in a quiet residential area, but not far from the main areas. ie a ten minute walk from the strip or a twenty minute walk to the old town. This was our first trip to albufeira, and we were a little apprehensive due to the recent bad publicity, but there is nothing to worry about at all. the people are friendly and courtious and on our next trip we will be staying at lagaedo sol again, were our host and its staff were also excellent.

My partner and I travlled in septemeber and the weather was gorgeous. We live in Cornwall and had to travel to Bristol to get our flight, which isn't too bad, however, by the time we arrived at the hotel we had been travelling for 13 hours and were starting to get tired and irritable, especially so when we found out that our hotel had been overbooked! I was extremely stressed out and hot at this point, but the man and woman on reception were excellent and within 5-10 minutes had rang another hotel and sorted out our accomodation and were very funny, friendly and spoke excellent English. They were also very apologetic. They phoned a taxi for us, which would collect us and take us to our new hotel. The man on reception said to ask our driver for a receipt, as a rep would meet us at the hotel and refund our cost of the taxi. We stayed for 7 days and the rep never showed up. I was very dissappointed by this, as had the receptionist pointed us in the right direction, we could have easily walked the short distance. Although the fee was only 6 Euros, we're both students and could have done with that extra money for a drink on holiday!
Overall we had a fantastic time and would reccomend walking to the old town and going to the local supermarket, Pingo Dolce You can get the train to the old town for a few euros but we walked in the eveing, there and back and it was beautiful. I also would give some advice to keep walking across the beach even though you are hot and tired! Everyone seems to occupy the same stretch of beach, so walking that little bit further gives you privacy and we swam with lots of lovely fish and even came across a sting ray!

When we first arrived we were dropped off at the bottom of the street and driver pointed to where we had to walk to it was only about 30 seconds but when you arrive in the dark and there is nobody around its a bit daunting. Once we reached hotel (21.55h) the doors were locked and not a soul in sight to let us in even the bar was closed. We had to call a number that was on a piece of A4 paper attached to the door. Unfortunately neither of us had international dial on our mobiles so were unable to get in touch on that number (all I can say is thank goodness we booked through Thomas Cook as we had an emergency number to call who managed to get hold of the infamous Salvatore). Having arrived at that hour we did we were tired after travelling all day and felt that we were the ones in the wrong for not contacting the hotel to inform them we would be arriving late (whatever happened to the paying customer being the ones in the right!)Salvatore could have been a bit more sympathetic instead of getting our backs up making us feel like we were in the wrong for not letting him know we would arrive late.
We arrived in our room and were very surprised at how big the apartment was. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. The coffee machine was a god send and much appreciated on a morning. Towels were changed twice a week and bedding changed once a week which we were fine with. Even though the room was clean when we arrived I would say the cleaners/maids are hit and miss. Some days we would arrive back to room and beds not made, once the rubbish bag was taken out of bin but left in living area, sometimes bin not emptied at all, floors including balcony could have been swept more often. Even though we did not use the pool that much as we prefer the beach, it was cleaned everyday.
Location was great for us as it was so peaceful and relaxing which is what we wanted from our holiday. The Strip was close by but we only went there once as it was not to our taste. The supermarket (Pingo Doce) was very close and very cheap and had a great fish counter. The beach was more than five mins walk probaly more like 10 minutes (we are both fit and didn't mind the walk to the beach as we were grateful for the exercise) and the Old Town is more like 20 minutes.
Our last day we were able to keep our room on FOC (I guess because it was out of season our room was not allocated for that night) and that was much appreciated.
Despite the few problems we had (don't really want to go in to them as the good points far out weighted the bad points) the overall verdict is it was a great place for us and what we needed. Even trhough hotel is quiet not sure if its the right hotel for a family but if you are looking for a peaceful location this is the place to be. We are definitely going back again and we now we know if you arrive late you need to contact the hotel otherwise you are stumped if you don't have international dial. An email address would be useful to contact hotel.

Room Tip: if arriving late do contact the hotel before you arrived otherwise you will be disapointed and p'...

Logeado Sol provides a peaceful contrast to the rather overheated rhythms of Albufeira and a stay at this very well appointed apartment building which also includes several studios can be unhesitatingly recommended. It is nearer to The Strip than the Old Town, but if you don't want a 15-20 minute walk the latter is easily reached by the tourist train; there is also a bus stop with regular town services outside the Pingo Doce supermarket which is within a couple of minutes walk. When we were here at the beginning of September we often walked to the clear waters of the less crowded Azul beach - 15 minutes and downhill for most of the way. However, Logeado Sol's pool is a joy to swim in and laze around and we spent two days of our week just relaxing and sampling some of proprietor Salvatore's excellent cuisine. Along with his staff he makes you feel most welcome from the moment you arrive, ever helpful but never intrusive. We stayed in a two bedroom studio three floors up and although we rather lived out of our suitcases, as there was no chest of drawers and only two shelves, there seemed to be enough space and it was spotlessly clean. Air con has now been installed in all the rooms. There has been a mention of doors banging by one reviewer and there may be a case for a notice in English (at present it's in Portuguese) at reception reminding people to enter quietly. The walls are not particularly thin and the design of the building ensures that you hear your neighbours a lot less than in most hotels,3* and upwards, that I've stayed in. Once our door was closed all I could hear at night was the sound of the air conditioning. Albufeira may not represent the real Portugal and that description on here of "Blackpool with constant sunshine" did cross my mind once or twice (mostly on The Strip or 'Bar Alley' in the Old Town), but it quickly vanished when I turned a corner to see a church, a row of traditional pink and white villas surrounded by bougainvillea or just the wonderful coastline.

We enjoyed our stay at the Lageado Sol Apartments. The apartments are spacious with separate kitchen area, satellite TV and Air conditioning. The property is very clean with nice pool area, and pool bar. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. There is a large supermarket named (Pingo Doce) within easy walking distance, and the main resort area named 'The Strip' is 5 - 10 minute walk away. The beaches of Albufeira are approximately 20 minute walk from the apartments. There are plenty of bars and restaurants close by with a variety of entertainment. If your looking for a bargain break this is the place to stay.
