We were here last year and decided to come back this year we were not dissapointed arrived the last week of dec.weather first 2days was wet but the remaining 5days were lovely given keys to our room and didn't really like the layout of it we asked if we could get the room we were in last year but that area was under renovation so he gave us another room to check out on the 4th floor which was lovely and had a great view too . staff are very good and nothing is too much bother .

A peaceful resort at the end of the vibrant strip in the Montechoro area of Albufeira. The apartments have everything you need. The staff are always ready to help in any way they can. The pool is the best I have ever been to anywhere in the world.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view or a garden room

My wife and I stayed at the Oura view beach club in late September , we didn't strike lucky with the weather as it rained on and off for the first few days, but did with the accomodation. We were given a ground floor pool view apartment , which we had not asked for but it turned out really well, lovely room with our own patio ,fully equipped kitchen, convenient for the pool , and breakfast was served about a minute away , ( had to get there early though , because most fruit etc was gone if you were late) , the beach ( fabulous )was just 2 minutes away with the boardwalk and several restaurants , all very nice with lovely staff , hotel staff also very friendly and helpful , we spent a couple of evenings at CPO (sister hotel) which has a nice piano bar as well as nightly entertainment and also a very good restaurant,Jacs. The old town is a short taxi ride away 4/5 euro, where there is plenty to keep anyone entertained , we ate at the Atrium twice , really lovely grub and great staff , All in all we had a great time and will probably pay another visit .

Been going for 3 years now but that's not long by some peoples standards.
It's a quiet hotel. By the bar and beach , with a hand full of restaurants on the prom in front of you .
The lively strip is on the doorstep if you want it crazy.
Flights are cheap and short these days , and long gone are transfers buses with the holiday company's that took forever dropping off everywhere , we take a private , cheaper , quicker . Yelllowfish transfers are the best , most people use them in Albufeira as they are a professional set up clean and modern cars , English speaking guys .Some of these companies drive like looneys and smoke in the car . These guys even have internet .
The hotel is clean , modern enough with flat screen tv , with British channels .
There is a indoor pool too so if the weather is not great it's a option , indoor jacuzzi overlooking the bay too.

Have just returned from 9 days in OVBC. We arrived to terrible weather, which lasted most of the day. The sun came out and shone for the rest of the holiday.
We are Infiniti members but choose to stay in Club apartments for their size and sea views. I had actually booked 3 apartments as it was a family holiday. My kids, who are all in their 30s could not get over the size of the rooms. They reckoned they were at least double the size of apartments they had hired in the med. A pushchair, a cot, a highchair . lilos, rings etc didn't seem to make any dents in the space. The litte ones were still able to play. DVD player very useful---bring your own "Fireman Sam".
Apartments are cleaned daily except weekends. Towels are thick and WHITE. Bedding crisp andWHITE. I hate grey thin towels and sheets! Towels changed daily.
We were able to do the beach and then move to pool, and back , with ease. All a couple of minutes walk from our room.
Waking to see the sunrise (grandkids being early risers) and sunset from our huge balcony was great. We faced south, so had sun all day. Interestingly both bedroom and lounge had patio doors to Balcony.
We ate a couple of nights at Jacs at CPO. The buffet was great and the 3 and 2 year old ate for free. Bonus.
we like this resort out of season as "The Strip" is not "our thing". At this time of year it is not noisy. Be warned though, Our son was mugged and lost his wallet with cash and cards as well as a 3G phone on a Saturday night out. Even cost 13 euros to report to police!
I had lots of preconceptions about Albufeira, non of which were apparent on this holiday. (Stayed in June at a different hotel and it almost put me off for life.)
MGM Resorts are apparently about to begin a major improvement programme. We hope to see some results when we return next year.
Staff at resort are unfailing friendly, especially cleaners and reception lady.
We will return here on our next visit to Portugal. We just love those sea views!

Room Tip: Get a club room----one bed sea view. Worth the extra.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Oura-View Beach Club in September.
As with any location you have never been to before we were anxious to see what we had booked ourselves into.
On arrival we were greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Once we checked in we went to our room and were pleasantly surprised. A beautiful room with goodies in almost every room - fridge stocked with milk, orange, cheese, ham, butter and eggs with a bottle of red wine, bread, crackers and crisps on the worktop, In the bathroom there was a package with everything you could need, from shampoo to a needle and thread. In the bedroom we found a robe and beach towel.
As it was about 8pm when we checked in we didn't want to cook and didn't feel like going too far so we went to the pool side restaurant - great service and beautiful food. We ate here again a few days (lunch time).
A lovely beach (mix of sand and shell) and lovely pool with lots of room and lots of fun.....2 slides...for all ages - :o)
Albufeira "strip" is ok if you're looking for an advantage meal or cocktails etc but if you want more of an authentic experience take a 5 minute taxi ride (less than 10 euros) into Albufeira Old Town - beautiful and LOTS to choice from.
We had an amazing time and were very sad to leave. We saw no trouble, everyone we met was very helpful and friendly.
100% recommend the accommodation and location. Cant wait to go back.
We are a young couple in our late 20s/early 30s

Just come back from a lovely and relaxing week in Albufeira, staying at the Oura View Beach club. We went as a transfer from my Dad's RCI timeshare.
It helped that the weather was fantastic throughout the stay which, since it absolutely chucked it down on our final morning, is a distinct bonus at this time of year!
The hotel is pretty big, the main block is 8 storeys high though it is set in a cliff so having a room on the 7th floor won't be too much of a hassle especially if you are going out into Albufeira or off to the Strip regularly. The hotel is split into blocks, seemed a little bit like a prison as we were dispatched off to A-block but I assure you it is anything but! ;-)
We were in room 302, at the far end of the hotel from reception. We had a lovely view overlooking the swimming pool and then onto the sea. If you stood on the (sizeable) balcony you got a view of the car parks and one of the other blocks but this was no bad thing. It was lovely to wake up in the morning and seeing the sun rise over the neighbouring tower (our son woke up quite early some times!)
The room was fairly basic: bedroom (twin beds which we pushed together), bathroom (which looked a bit tired but was functional and the shower was fairly decent overlooking the sudden changes in temperature sometimes - need to keep your hand there if using for a child) and lounge with a mini-kitchen in the corner. The kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher, hob, microwave, toaster and fridge. We made good use of this!
The lounge had 2 sofas plus a table and 4 chairs. One of the sofas had a mattress under it and I think the other sofa was actually a bedspread covered with cushions. We didn't need to use it as a bed though.
We had a cot and this was a sturdy wooden one on wheels - it came with bedding though we also brought our own.

The terrace bar is where breakfast is served, this is down by the pool and is very pleasant. The breakfast themselves are the usual buffet-style breakfast, nothing out of the ordinary really though the staff were really friendly and efficient. A good selection of pastries, meats cheeses juices and fruits, coffee maker plus cooked breakfasts. They did a good job on frying eggs sunnyside up too :-)

The pool is a very big and in some places very deep pool. Right by the diving platform the water is 11 feet deep (3.5m)! Superb for some fun diving!! There is a wide slide down to the 2nd level, most of the pool is at least 5 foot deep though by the edges it is much shallower. There is also a wiggly slower slide which I got stuck on. Svelter types will fly down this though (as evidenced by the young kids having a great time on this while we were there!)
The kiddie's pool is fairly small and a max of about 1foot (30cm) deep. Both pools are pretty cold, especially at this time of year when the air temp was probably only mid-20's. Several folks mentioned that the sea was warmer and this I felt definitely to be true. The kid's pool felt a lot cooler than the main pool, probably because fresh water circulated much quicker. I can imagine in the height of summer this is a lovely refreshing temperature.

Past the pool is the boardwalk down to the beach, there are a few shops down here but we only really used:
- Mojito's beach bar for cocktails (€5 each, though got charged €5 for a beer as well! Will stick to cocktails next time)
- Vivaldo's restaurant (nice food though a little pricey as it is beackfront)
On our last day we drove down for 1 last look at the sea (in the rain!) and noticed another mini-mercado there as well as a parade of shops tucked away behind Vivaldo's / Oriental Tea bar, shame we hadn't bothered looking around earlier in the week :-(

The beach was a lovely one, soft golden sand like brown sugar. Rocks at both ends and sun loungers and parasols in the middle. There is quite a pull from the crashing waves, on some days even though it was calm the waves got quite big just as they met the shore and whilst this was great fun for me it could catch people off-guard (one of the guests mentioned his wife got pulled under a few years back and now they stay by the pool).
To the right side, if the tide is far enough out there are a series of caves, we met some folks hunting crabs in the rocks which was quite fun for a while!
To the far left side, again if the tide is far enough out there are other coves around the rocks providing a bit more seclusion from the main beach though when the tide comes in it does so pretty quickly. On that point, when we pitched at the far left side, we saw a couple of groups get swamped by some large waves that came out of nowhere, surging up the beach. Was quite funny to watch but I guess not so funny when you get caught out and your towel / phone / belongings end up getting soaked!
The lifeguard was pretty good at coming across and warning people ahead of high tide and advised to move further around the beach.

The only negative I have from this week is around the additional charges for electric and water - this was notified to us on check-in and I did recall that RCI mentioned in their blurb that there 'may be additional charges' but as I had spoken with folks from Petchey Leisure to book breakfasts after being chased to buy extras I expected this was not relevant at this hotel since it was not stated specifically in anything sent by them. There seems to be a disconnect between the folks selling the 'extras' and the hotel(s). Surely it isn't difficult to give a 'final value' when you pay the exchange fee? Even if this is payable to separate groups it would be better than arriving and being told you need to pay for the electric & water you use (even though it is a flat rate!!). In the end because there was some mistake when the breakfast booking was made and I challenged the extra charge this was waived - a great example of empowered staff making a good, customer-focused decision. Thank you very much Hugo!

I would definitely come back here, mostly because the staff were really friendly, the position and outlook over the sea was superb and whilst the accommodation was a bit dated it was functional and met our needs perfectly.

Tips:
- you will probably be told about the 6th floor entrance on check-in. The penny didn't drop until I saw the layout of the hotel - as it is set in a cliff the 6th floor is an exit out onto the same level as the strip so you don't have to walk up the steep hill back to the roundabout and the main drag.
- There is a small number of parking spaces on the top floor / 6th floor exit though this gets quite congested with people using the gym / spa during the day
- Towels aren't provided for the indoor swimming pool, take a beach towel or your room towel!
- You will need a swimming cap for use in the indoor swimming pool - bit of a rip-off in the spa (€5 for junior and €6 for adults) so check out the mini-mercado on site as they sell them for €3
- The indoor swimming pool is free for residents, the other areas (sauna, jacuzzi, turkish bath etc) are chargeable. The temp of the indoor pool was not much warmer though
- The road train is good fun, esp if your 18month old loves trains! You will see this coming down the drag at all times of day and night. You pick it up from the far end of the 'Strip' (or in our case from the Old Town and use it as a good way back after a meal out!)
- Mostly every restaurant has free wifi, much quicker than the free hotel wifi (which is only available in the Reception area). I didn't fancy paying for their in-room wifi, hopefully it is quicker than the dialup speed given in the reception area! The big benefit here is that it made checking emails so painful that I eventually didn't bother so added to a more relaxing week away :-)
