Just returned from a family vacation (kids: 10, 7,5) and had a fabulous time. Balaia golf village is perfect for families, with spacious (although slightly dated) 2 bedroom apartments, fully functioning kitchen and two bathrooms. Minimal bathroom supplies provided, although rooms cleaned daily. The grounds are gorgeous and all the pools are immaculately kept. The heated indoor pool is also great especially on cooler days - make sure this (and the gym) are included in the package price otherwise it's payment on single entry. Swimming caps are also required, although not for the outdoor pools. Pool towels provided only for the indoor pool. Breakfast is provided in the golf club - a little walk away within the grounds, but we enjoyed the additional fresh air before eating. We paid for half board - break is substantial enough, with yummy home
made jams!; dinner was not bad, for the first four nights, but after that we chose to eat out - wouldn't opt for half board again, although if you do eat out, you need a car.
Highly recommend hiring a car from faro airport (as transfer to hotel cost €60 single way,and car hire was €120 for 3 days including drop off at airport). We loved exploring the costal and inland towns - a car is essential for this; went to Lagos (amazing beaches), silves (great Moorish castle), portimao( great wooden walkway along beach) and Saturday market town (name??) great family vacation!

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to pool area - one pool has playground and kids club (payment for kids club)

Balaia Golf Village Resort is a great, value-for-money property. I visited along with 4-5 fellow MBA students, and was impressed by the price-quality ratio that was on offer! Loved the spaciousness of the 2 bedroom apartment villa we stayed in.

Happy memories from this place, and look forward to going back some day soon! Not far from the beach, and worth hiring a car from the nearby Faro airport - makes getting around and exploring so much more fun! :)

where do i start? went here with my wife for a weeks honeymoon. check in was efficient, with a smile, 1 bedroom apt with twin beds not ideal for honeymooners but after talking to the receptionist she arranged for them to be pushed together. kitchen had everything we needed, full size oven, 4 ring hob, dishwasher and fridge freezer. tv channels were sky sports 1-3, all the uk channels except ch5, sky movies family and a few movie channels. perfect as it rained most of the week. we never sit in the hotel rooms but hadnt much choice because of the crap weather. these apts ar not ideal if you have walking problems as its a good 15 min walk to the nearest shops and bars. ideal if you want peace and quiet. reception was very helpful when we went the few times we had to. as for the bad comments people have made on here ignore them as they are made by idiots that have nothing better to do than moan about nothing. as for the idiot that made the comment about there being to many brits, well coming from the capital of britain says it all really, am sure they are fluent in portugese(NOT). would definately go to portugal again and would definately stay here again. cant comment on the food as we ate in most evenings. rooms were cleaned every day. grounds were well kept.

Very good value for money. Appreciated privacy and fantastic various inclusive facilities. Appartment very clean and linen changed if required. This was our second visit and will be r
returning later this year.
The only downside we feel that the golf at the resort was expensive for the type of course.

Room Tip: Appartment 289 very good

I have visited the Balaia Resort once and I really liked it. The open spaces, perfectly kept gardens and different areas gives you an almost “village-esque” feel. The restaurants are good and the golfing is also not bad, with a well stocked pro-shop.
The one thing which I want to comment on is, that there are far too many Brits for my liking. The only language you hear pretty much is English, which is fine but not to my liking and not what I want from a holiday away from the UK.
It is a family orientated resort and for that reason, I would really only recommend it to families and not couples, as there are way too many kids running around. I would however return for a quick half term get away with my future family!

My wife and I really enjoyed our 2 week winter break on the Algarve. We were blessed with lovely weather and a wonderfull apartment. We had a T1 Superior (which was a free upgrade from a standard T1) We were above the indoor leisure centre behind the supermarket on the 2nd floor. By good fortune we had a sun trap just outside our front door, so we put our sunbeds there. On the rear terrace we had a nice view of one of the outdoor swimming pools. The onsite supermarket had most of what we needed and we did not find that the prices were that much higher than the Intermarche just up the road. A car hire is neccesary, but be carefull if your using a budget rental company off the internett. We nearly caught a cold. I suggest a transfer from the airport then book a car through reception. You know where you stand then and you have plenty of back up if anything goes wrong. The reception staff were really helpfull with all of our enquiries and the daily maid service was a real comfort. The golf club and golf course and practice facilities on site were a real pleasure and I used these a lot. I also played in there Wednesday competition which was a lot of fun. All in all the holiday was a complete success and we will most deffinatley return in the future. Nice place, nice gardens, nice people. A real home from home in the sun.

Room Tip: There are some 600 to 700 units on this site so you should be able to get what you want, as long as...
