“Great apartments, Had a great time!!”
Reviewed November 24, 2009

Stayed here for 10days at the end of June this year. Overall a great holiday, apartments were clean and to a good standard.

Had a few problems when we arrived, got there at about 10am, but were told we wouldn't be able to check in till 12. We didn't have much of a problem with this as they let us store our bags and get changed and head down to the pool. There was a large group of us and we had two apartments, the other group went back to the reception at about half 12 and got there room key. We went just after them but were told that the last person who stayed had not returned their key and the lock needed changing. So we had to wait until 3, this was quite annoying, but we were given a voucher for free drinks so ordered 3 glasses of wine and a beer. The wine was obviously their cheapest and the beer glass had fluff around the top!! safe to say none of us drank our drinks. We eventually got into our apartment, with a key and lock that did not look brand new. This was the only problem we had.

The pool was lovely and the rooms very tidy and to a good standard. we even had our own little garden. The other apartment was also to a good standard.

Location was good. Outside the hotel were lots of restaurants and there was a supermarket round the corner. The main strip was about 10 minutes away, very noisy at night! Would defiantly recommend a trip to the old town, a 30min walk or about 10euros in a taxi. Beach was about a 10minute walk away - lots of stairs though.

Staff very helpful, at reception they gave us a lot of info that we needed/ booked taxis and stuff for us. Chico at the pool bar is a star! works 7 days a week unpaid to help out his brother, really nice guy if you get talking to him!

Just got back from staying in the Quinta Pedra dos Bicos apartments.

Firstly we arrived at the check in at 11:00 but they said our apartment wouldn't be ready until 15:00. They gave us a free drinks voucher and sent us to the pool. After 15 minutes we had used the voucher and found nothing to do. So we wasted time very slowly and went back at 15:00 to be told it still isn't ready, then back again 15:30 for the same and finally at 16:00 they were ready. The check in staff weren't the happiest of people either.

The room was basic which is usual for a cheapish apartment and I come to expect it now. It had the things you needed, the beds weren't bad, air con was good, bathroom was comfortable, kitchen not bad. The one thing that did annoy me though is we didn't get a balcony which I found unusual because from what I could see every apartment in the complex had one! I consider a balcony as standard in a room now but not this time.

Another thing that annoyed us was that the cleaning staff seemed very late all the time. They usually got to our apartment at around 17:30/18:00, and one day it was even 18:30! We found ourselves waiting around for them a lot of the time because at this time you want to start getting ready for the evening but we couldn't until later. Also we only for out towels changed once and our bed sheets weren't changed at all.

The good thing about the complex is the location. It is about a 5 minute walk to the main strip and there is a supermarket plus a few bars and restaurants outside the complex which are worth a visit (Happy house Chinese restaurant, rock line bar and a cake shop just on the right hand side are all good choices). The old town is about a 20/30 minute walk but there is a train on the strip that can take you there and back for 4 Euros.

Also there is a beach just a 5 minute walk away, you walk down a steep hill and a lot of steps down a hillside but we found it no problem. It was a quick and very nice beach to visit.

When we asked the hotel staff for some local information and they were helpful. They gave us a map and directions and also helped us with calling the transfer company to organise our transfer, so they were helpful and polite which was good.

So overall the check in, cleaning times and rooms could do with improving but if you’re looking for a cheap, basic place to stay in a good location then it’s not a bad choice and I would recommend them.

Just came back from Portugal and absolutely loved it! We go to Cyprus a lot and thought we would have a change. We were upgraded from a studio to a one bedroomed apartment on arrival. It was spotless. We used the pool at the recently built hotel (very modern) and we could not fault it, there were even some 4 poster beds to sunbathe on.

The location was great too and everyone is so friendly!

Just around the corner was a Karaoke and sports bar called Rock Line, we were made to feel so welcome that we treated it as our local.

I'm going back to the Quinta Pedro Dos Bicos next year.

We've stayed at this hotel for one week in july 2009. Everything was perfect. We had no complaints. The only less positive thing is the size of the outdoor pool.

myself and my partner stayed here for a week in may 2009, upon entering the hotel we were greete by a male receptionist, nice guy, we were told our room wasnt ready, so he gave us a voucher for complimentry soft drinks , tea or coffee to have at the pool bar in the main hotel, we waited for about an hour and went back to reception to collect our key, it was a studio apt we had paid for and i had requested a pool or sea view, but unfortunately the studios dont have either, i was very dissappointed but didnt make a fuss, i guess he could see by the look on my face that i was gutted, he gave us the keys and directions to our room, i couldnt believe to my delight he had given us a one bed apt with pool and sea views, he didnt say aword, i thought this was a nice touch, it was clean and comfy and had a full little kitchen, everything we needed, we only ate breakfast there anyway, i dont believe in cooking while im on holidays, on our third night there a group of english women arrived, they were on a hen party, what a disgusting lot, from the moment they arrived they took the place over, their language etc at the pool, and nighttime the parties in one of their apts, they didnt give a damn about familes there with small children, eventually people complained and they were moved to another block facing the road, that quietened them a bit, anyway we got over that, overall we really enjoyed our stay at the dos bicos, but watch out you could be unlucky and get an apt facing on to a car park or just facing another apt, for me this is important as i love to have sea view, who really wants to be lookin out onto another apt, would i go back to these apts again, yes no problem, if they were in oldtown, i much prefered oldtown, im not into that strip, again nothing but drunken hen parties and drunken stags, not very nice to be near. yes, i will definately go back to the algarve again. patricia, co clare, ireland

I stayed at Quinta Pedra dos Bicos in the Spring of 2009. Bitterly disappointed at the room, dark and dreary; had view of the parking lot! Tried to get moved but to no avail.
My travel agent contacted them to get me moved and were told I had been moved and
was very happy. None of that was true; I had not been moved and was not happy.

Beach is quite a walking distance from hotel, pools were ice cold, hotel staff were not interested in providing service.

Returned from the bank holiday weekend trip yesterday and we had booked a one bedroom apartment for three nights. When we arrived we were disappointed with the one bedroom being a double bed, a sofa bed and the living area all in the same room. We thought they had given us a studio instead but apparently not, so we asked for an upgrade. We upgraded to a hotel room for no extra charge, which was much better and much quieter than the apartments which were servicable but basic.
The Hotel was spotless and the pool although small was much warmer than the pool at the Oura Praia Hotel which we stayed at for Easter.

Both Oura Praia Hotel and this hotel are ideally located and immaculate I would find it difficult to chose between them.

If you chose the apartments please bear in mind that if you take children with you, they will be sleeping in the same room as you, at the bottom of your bed on a sofa bed - not my idea of fun! You will need a two bedroom apartment even if you take one child.
