The hotel has potential to be a great hotel, unfortunately only potential.
Pretty much everything needs a refit...
They are a good size, however furniture is shows its age (A reoccurring theme...) though the beds were comfortable. Bathroom also a nice size, with a nice shower, but looked tired/shabby.
The rooms have a safe - But the old kind with a key rather than an electronic keycode.
No mini bar - Reading someone else's review, apparently you can get these at charge - This is not advertised anywhere. The rooms have an old CRT TV made by Nokia (I didn't even realise they made TVs) But cannot get any English stations (I suspect that this is due to the digital change over) but there is the BBC world station (A few of the Portuguese/Spanish stations show American shows with subtitles).
Maids did an ok job, nothing too far beyond new towels/making beds.
I stayed on a B&B basis, after two days we ate out every morning - Very poor.
The food around the pool was better, ham and cheese on toast etc. The service at this bar was great, no fault of the staff there just wasn't enough of them and they were poorly stocked. (IE if someone ordered a sandwich no one else could get served for 5mins while the barstaff went and made it).
The pool was ok, nothing special - The sunbeds were the kind with stretched plastic fibres as a base, not the most comfortable in the world.
It was open in the evenings, but i never saw anyone in there - A nice pool table (pay for an hour).
There is internet access available from reception (A wifi code to put in your laptop/phone etc). However this is only available in the reception area - No where else. (not sure why they wouldn't put this in the bar where they can serve you drinks and get more money out of you? Seems odd...). Note there are no computers to use other than the WiFi access.
On the last day when wandering around the resort we found another pool that belongs to the hotel (with no sign posts on how to get to other than the one on the door to the pool. This has a bigger pool, a separate bar/pool tables etc and nicer sun beds.
In general the hotel needs new carpets/painting inside and out/new furniture. It seems they have cut alot of corners.. IE the flagpoles outside of the hotel don't actually have any flags - Which looks....odd.
The strip it is at the top of has a few bars and restaurants - Tip, avoid the restaurant called "Doris".
Best place for food/drinking is the old town which costs around 5 Euro's (If you can find a taxi, the taxi rank isnt the most active rank in the world).
Think that covers most things, its not a bad hotel if you can get it cheap - But i think calling it a four star hotel is beyond generous!
