“Best Beach Hotel in Algarve”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

I believe that is the best Beach Hotel in the Algarve, given its location 50 metres from the beach.
The promotions that Hotel are offers seems to me appropriate to the quality.
Dinner buffet under the quality for a 4 star Hotel (to limit).
The Interior needs an update.
Overall it is a Nice Beach Hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a room with sea view

my advice is dont go here unless you are game for a laugh ..... we arrived at the airport on good time thanks to easy jet only to discover our transport to the hotel would be ninety minutes late. when it did arrive not a coach but a transit van with two back windows ....on our way to the hotel i passed a remark to my wife that the driver looked likethe guy that wanted to tarmack our drive a few months back i could not here her response mostly due to the noise of the front wheel bearing on the drivers side ... when our limo pulled up outside the hotel our hearts rose ..only to be dashed again when we were pointed in the direction of a block of flats you would have seen in glasgow being knocked down to make way for a slum ......inside we discovered no air con and i was promptly dispatched to complain to the hotel manager who turned out to be a german version of basil faulty .......after he explained to me zer es no aircon i made my way back back to the cell to break the bad news to my wife ..... we then discovered there was no kettle to boil water for tea or coffee so i was off to see john cleese again who clicked his heels and walked off after informing me zer es no kettle ...... .on my way back down i found myself humming the theme tune to the great escape...... next morning we made our way the pool for a early morning swim . a sign stated in every language except german that sun beds can not be reserved but they were all taken..you would have more chance getting a bed with the n.h.s. than at this place lovely beach and close to the hotel but everything else is a two day camel ride ........food in the local resturants not great but the wine is good .and is very cheep ........ sorry folks i wont be going back but i suppose you will have to find out for your selves ...by the way i booked this with thomas cooke

Room Tip: just avoid it

Exceptional placement over the fine beach of Falésia.
Sadly (and very unprofessionaly) there is no room service on the studios during sundays and holidays. Keep that in mind!
The other sevices are all normal.

Ok, so me my wife and my 2 year old daughter went for a 5 day break at this hotel, we went there expecting an average hotel by the beach and we got an average hotel on the beach, no surprise there.

The hotel was full of kids from 1 year olds to teens, its a family hotel so don't expect quiet or relaxing times here it's a constant kindergarten feeling, during our stay i estimated around 150 kids there and they all seem attracted to the swimming.

The beach is very good but also very very crowded, its also a family beach, mostly upper middle class people so you rarely get hit by some beach ball but you do have to excuse yourself if you want to move your toes :). There are some sun beds available 2 for 15 Euro per day with a parasol but you also need to excuse yourself to move your toes in these, also couples with 3+ kids tend to only pay for 2 beds so it gets pretty crowded here.

Do not go to this hotel if you're on your honeymoon you will just feel terrible. Do not go to this hotel if you don't have kids or if you're trying to get a vacation from your kids.

Food wise the hotel is actually not even average, food not suitable for kids, not enough variety, and although its good and fresh ingredients the chefs spoil it with nonsense dishes that you should not serve on a family hotel. If you have a vehicle available on your stay, avoid full or half board, just go out to lunch and dinner on one of the near by restaurants.
I advise one called "Mira Parque" witch looks like a crappy place but we had to go there to try to get some decent food for my daughter and it was the closest we could find. to my surprise they served us excellent food there especially the grilled fish.

Note about parking: the hotel has free parking but its also not controlled so anyone can park there, and the beach is very solicited so during the day its hard to find a place to park near it.

On the 6 days we were there, only once did my child touch their soup and only 2 times their food. Soup she liked was a simple carrot cream and main course was some grilled chicken breast. We had to go out to have meals in a near by restaurant or our child would starve.

Breakfast was the exception, but then again, what's there to miss on a breakfast?

Rooms have a pretty decent view but need a revamp, in fact the whole hotel needs one. They are fairly clean on the visible areas but don't put your hand under the bed to get something out.

The hotel announces wifi and does not state if its free or paid, it is paid and has a limited number of logins ex: 12 hours 4 logins.

Sleep quality: Superb AFTER the daily parties end (usually around midnight) before that is hard to get to sleep due to the noise (live bands, pool disco for kids, karaoke night etc.)

Pool: Since this is an hotel for kids the pool gets very crowded and although the sun bathing area is a huge garden with a HUGE amount of space, there are not enough sun chairs for everyone so if you arrive at the pool in the afternoon don't expect to have them available and be prepared to lay your towel on the grass :) (its actually quite pleasant as there are some trees and shades)

Final thought: got kids, need a place to go on vacation with them, don't want to worry about them being pests and upsetting others go here, everyone is on the same boat.

Room Tip: Irrelevant, hotel's location makes all rooms decent, even if you don't get the "sea vie...

This was my Honeymoon,we wanted a short relaxing break away but with option of still being able to go out to eat & still be able to visit a few bars for abit of night life. This was not possible as the Hotel is in the middle of no where,we thought that we were getting a villa appartment but in fact got a appartment in what i describe as a youth hostel block.Very Very basic. You will need a taxi or bus trip iff you need to change any money and is a 20 minute journey from Albufeira. We managed to move there after 2 days & it made our trip,a very hilly place but fantastic final 3 days.I hope this help's.

Room Tip: Sorry, not able to do so.

The Alfamar Hotel complex consists of a large 4-star hotel block, very well maintained, within about 200 yards of the quite excellent Praia de Falesia (beach). In its attractive and well looked after gardens there dozens of bungalows, and then two small blocks of apartments (Algarve Gardens Apartments). We had one of these. It was fairly basic (tiny kitchenette, bathroom, 1 bedroom, balcony, no air-con) all a bit down-at-heel and showing its age but well serviced. We were on the second floor which entailed climbing 46 steps and no lift, so it wouldn't be suitable for anyone with any mobility problems. We went half-board (breakfast and evening meal). One disadvantage was that the restaurant was 5 minutes brisk walk away. The food was acceptable but unexciting and unimaginative. You wouldn't go here for the food. The whole complex has an Albafueira address, but it is actually 7-8 km to the east of Albafueira, and lies in a quiet semi-rural area, with only a couple of mini-markets and bar/restaurants nearby. If you want shops, entertainments, night-life and bustling crowds, then don't come here. But for quiet and access to a vast and superb sandy beach which stretches for miles, backed by high pine-covered cliffs, then this may be the place for you. Have a look at the pictures other people have included with their reviews. Most of the guests we saw were couples with small children, or the middle-aged and elderly. No teenagers or 20s, although they might find the extensive sports facilities attractive. We hired a car but wouldn't do so again because navigating through the maze of roads along the coastal strip is a pain, and if you really want to visit Albafueira, you can get a bus. It only takes 20 minutes. We had 10 very good, excellent sunny days, with lots of sunbathing, walking and relaxing. So, would we make another visit and possibly recommend it? Yes, we probably would, within the limitations we've spelled out here.

I will keep this VERY short. If you are doing self catering here. DO NOT DO IT. Please please do not! It was the worst room I have ever been in. We moved the day after. You have been warned. The MAIN hotel looked fine. Pool great, and beach area superb, but we didnt do that. Hotel in the midde of no where. 16 euro taxi to Albufeira. Go at your own peril.
