We have just got back from a great family holiday at the Alpinus, the rooms were very spacious with great views from our balcony. We stayed on a self catering basis and only ate in the restaurant once but would concur with other reviews that the offering was pretty standard stuff. The pool was clean and everywhere seemed well maintained and the animation team provided plenty of activities poolside which the children could wander in and out of. As a bar manager I found the service at the bar painfully slow especially as most of the guests were not paying for drinks as they were all inclusive. But that aside the staff were helpful and courteous.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 401 which had two balconies and a sun terrace!

Booked for 7 days all inclusive at the Luna Alpinus in May. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived at midday (fair enough) but we were told that, although we could use the facilities in the bar/café area, we were not allowed our all inclusive bands until the restaurant opened for lunch. It was only 20 minutes! How much did they think we would drink? Our apartments were excellent; plenty of space, air conditioned and cleaned regularly. We were directly above the reception and overlooked the golf course which gave us the evening sunshine in our veranda - lovely. Food: pretty average really but probably normal for all inclusive fare. The dining room was nice but it was swamped with over 60's at lunch and dinner times and woe betide if you ventured to sit in their "designated" area. You had to be up pretty early to reserve a sunbed (my pet hate and apparently outlawed by the hotel) but the pool bar, and especially the usual barman, were top notch. Overall it was fine for a week but there were enough restaurants' nearby (one of which we caved in to) to suggest B&B would be the better option. We've been nearby at Clube Humbria before and it was a better experience.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the adjacent golf course get the evening sunshine.

I've just now checked out of the hotel and up until now I found the service stunning, kind staff, lovely building, close to a supermarket etc. Me and my gf only used the hotel phone twice (both local calls to check transit times), but when we got to the desk we found ourselves charged with 96 PHONE CALLS!!! We insisted they weren't ours (given we called an automated phone line with a repeating message) but the staff were insisting it was, and on the last day of our holiday we didn't have 72€. Eventually we talked with the manager and even he couldn't see that there was a problem elsewhere in the system (he only saw the spreadsheet), which was just the same information 96 times over. All he did in the end was reduce the amount to 35€, which I had to pay with my card. It's such a shame our holiday had to end on such a low, because it's such a beautiful country. My advice, only use your mobile, or send a letter.

Just got back from Alpinus had a good 7 days all the staff were very friendly and helpful, the hot food is not great, but the salads and the desserts are very good. We had a one bedroom apt. cleaned every day clean towels very good service the bar staff were very good nothing too much trouble the larger is as good as you got anywhere in the area (the brandy is prity good to).Great if you like golf there is one course over the road then you have Sheridans Golf Village about 15mins. walk. If you want to go into Albufeira you can get the free bus but we used a cab (12euros each way) The oranges are beautiful

Just returned from a week in these apartments!! There were 12 of of ranging from age 50 - 20 and a baby..... All I can say is try it for yourself!! The apartment are fab clean spacious with fresh towels everyday!!! We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a huge sun terrace and balcony, some of the others were in 1 bed room apartments and again they were huge!! There are some shops restaurants and pubs near by! Granted not a lot but a taxi in to the old town or the strip is around €8-10 each way? I am going to book up for next year so go with an open mind and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did xx

Just back from 11 nights in the Alpinus. We researched it a lot before going so knew exactly what we were getting for our money.

Accom - Perfect. We have a one bedroom apt with a double balcony. There's only a few of these in the hotel directly above reception overlooking the driving range. Rooms are amongst the most spacious you'll find I think.

Both pools spotless and plenty of beds although our visit was off-peak and can imagine it gets busier with school holidays. We stuck to the north pool as it gets the sun for longer and more beds.

Food - Ok, so here's the deal...it's what I expected. Salads, one meat dish, one fish dish with chips and pasta for both lunch and dinner. Does the job and again you must take the price into consideration here. Want RIU style AI? Pay RIU prices. Breakfast was decent, with cereal, continental and fry up options. Bacon, sausage, beans and scrambled egg every day with boiled and fried eggs alternating each day.

Although we were AI we had the little one with us so didn't drink too much alcohol during the day and tended to venture out at night. Staff were pleasant enough as long as you show some manners towards them, sadly lacking with some other guests I felt but just an opinion. Again, drink was as I expected, you're not going to get Smirnoff here and not sure why anyone would expect otherwise?

Location - Again, researched so knew it wasn't near Albufeira itself. 20 minute walk to Olhas D'Agua which has a lovely beach and I believe Falesia beach is a little closer though we didn't venture in that direction. Small resort with 2 or 3 pubs at the end of the road, shops slightly further away with more bars and restaurants a short walk away.

One final comment, hotel seems to be currently linked up with some sort of Portuguese Saga type tours and the Latin seniors arrived on both our weeks there. They didn't cause me any grief other than being very slow around the dining room.

We'll be back, more for the spacious rooms and general area than the food or drink in the hotel so maybe SC next time!

Room Tip: Rooms above reception overlooking Pine Cliffs resort have double balconies.
