“Good value and a pleasant base for beach and restaurants”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

Our second visit here. As before we found ourselves in a large one bedroomed apartment although we had booked a studio.
Large lounge area with two sofas, a large coffee table plus TV and music system. A patio large enough for a table and 2 chairs, although we only received half an hour of sun each day. The sunny side of the hotel is facing the road.
At the other end of the open plan lounge is an area with simple kitchen facilities including microwave, toaster, kettle, 'fridge and two ring hob. There are cupboards with basic cooking and serving equipment plus teapot! There is a four seater dining table here as well.
In the bedroom there was a large built in wardrobe with sliding doors on one side housing a safe plus iron and ironing board. Two single beds with bedside tables plus dressing table . There is air conditioning and very clean.

We used the hotel as a base, going out for meals and trips to the beach. The hotel has a large restaurant serving varieties of food and there were offers for special deals. We did not use these facilities, preferring to try to local restaurants around the corner.

There are two swimming pools both with loungers - OK for families with young children and groups of friends on holiday together.

As this is in an area not populated by nightclubs or particularly built up one would expect families and friends to visit this hotel.

If you do want to find a local beach, I would recommend the walk to Falesia (about 10-15 minutes away on foot).
There is a steep climb down steps from the cliff top. These cliffs are vivid brick red of interesting shapes. It's beautiful and the beach stretches for probably a good 5 miles. Villamoura marina is the reward if you take this walk to its completion turing left at the bottom of the steps.

This is good value and was perfect for our needs.

We are into our 4th week at the Luna Alpinus, we are staying self catering but we have been down for the odd breakfast, The 1 bedroomed apartment is very spacious with everything that you need to be able to cook an evening meal. The flat is cleaned and towels changed daily, the beds are changed twice a week, there are 2 english channels ITV and BBC2. Breakfast was 4.50 euros per person and as well as helping yourself to buffet style you also get choice of cooked breakfast also. We have been all over the Algarve, up to Evora and over to Aljezur and we just can't beat the price of the Alpinus!
All the complaints about being no restaurants nearby we have just walked down the road and within a 1/2 mile radius there is 12 restaurants, Portuguese, Chinese, Italian and Japanese, if that isn't enough then I dont know what people expect. It is November it is 22 degrees and in the last 4 weeks we have had 4 days of rain! oh and the price of the Alpinus, our 1 bedroomed apartment is 18 euros a night!!!!! yes £15 per night or to put it another way £7.50 per person for 2 people or £3.75 per person for 4 people!
Oh and I musn't forget there is a shuttle bus into Albafeira daily for the people who like more a more touristy holiday.
I cannot for the life of me understand what the people that were moaning want from a holiday!

Room Tip: The hotel is surrounded by Pine trees, so if you want a better view opt for the 4th floor where you...

Superb 1 week stay, all inclusive. Ok the food is standard, not local, but always a choice meat, fish, veg, salads, fruit & puddings. Drinks were in plastic cups, but no big deal. Friendly staff, rooms cleaned daily. Pools clean, entertainment mainly for children. A few tourist shops and supermarkets within walking distance, free daily shuttle into both old and new town. Reception staff very accommodating with booking activities outside of the hotel (Quad Ventura well recommended!!).

Just returned from a one week stay (during Oct half term) -5 adults sharing a two bedroomed apartment on an all inclusive basis. After reading some of the previous reviews I was a little apprehensive but my doubts were unfounded. The apartment was large, bright and very clean and was more than adequate in size for a group of 5 adults. We had good room service and nice white fluffy towels. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the food and drink was very good - always hot and plenty of choice. The hotel itself was very quiet therefore we did not experience any problems with queuing for either food or drinks from the bar. The weather was the only let down - it rained 4 days out of the 7 so we were all very pleased that we had booked an apartment as we spent a lot of time there, reading, watching TV - yes we had BBC and ITV - not able to get BBC1 for some reason - playing cards and playing scrabble. Great value and would recommend this hotel to future guests.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise from traffic and bar area. We had room 325 overlooking the golf cours...

First impressions of this hotel were good , spacious clean reception then a nice spacious room. From then it went down hill .... Food was bland and limited so much so we had lunch once during our week and ate out at night paying a huge amount in taxis. Drinks were awful and always in plastic small cups - what 4 star hotel serves plastic?? Constantly made to feel like a second class citizen , staff not really interested. Location not great , quite a walk to the beach. Would never go back or recommend this hotel to anyone!

We stayed here 02/10/2012-16/10/2012. We were self catering and didn't use any falcilities at the hotel. However we found the staff polite and helpfull, the room 315 was large and kept very clean. However it's over the bar so no sleep till after 12. Always freash towels and the kitchen was OK for the two of us, We cooked in every other day. We are beach buddies so we spent most days on the wonderful beach, cloud on oniy one morning otherwise unbroken sun. The local beach is at least 25 Mins away, Be warned, when you are coming back you have 80 steps to climb amd then about 150 yards uphill at 45 degrees. We are both in our mid sixties and I in particular found this tough. Tip, walk on the road if it's safe. Good local supermarke/t same as Spar, with bakery and butchers. Turn right to junction turn left supermarket on right 2 mins,
