Just back from 5 nights with my two grandchildren 10 & 12. 1 Bedroom apartment was a good size. Bathroom well fitted and very clean. Towels big, soft and white. Good sized kitchen but as we were all inclusive we did not need to use its contents. Kids had bedroom and I slept on sofa bed, we had a problem getting it set up so I asked maids to leave it up for the duration. If the kids wanted to watch TV,( ITV 1 was available) they just sat/lay on the sofabed. Bed linen crisp & clean. Hotel very clean throughout.
Food was good, although not a great choice which could be a problem if you were there for a longer period, but for 5 nights it ticked all the boxes for us. Drinks in the restuarant were served in glasses, but in the bars plastic glasses. Through the day that is fine as most people took their drinks outside but proper glasses would be better for evenings.
The North pool was hard to find at first and was busy, although we always found a sunbed- this pool gets the sun all day. We preferred the other pool, which was quieter and got the sun from around 9:45am to 3pm.Again, always found sunbeds. Pool towels are available at reception for a E10 deposit, I wish I had known this when I booked as I packed our own.

We took the courtsey bus to the next sister hotel , Luna Falasia Mar, there is a path and steps down to a lovely beach, the kids had a ball, jumping the waves. The service bus into Albuferia cost E3.20 single, we came back by taxi and it was only E10, so I would recommend getting taxi.

Night entertainment was low key, but was fine for us.

Staff were very helpful throughout the hotel.

Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Luna Alpinas.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Alpinus. The apartments are an excellent size and our 2-bedroom apartment had a huge balcony plus 2 smaller ones. We stayed half board, which suited us perfectly as we like to be out and about during the day. The food was adequate but no vegetarian choice. I asked the restaurant staff and a special vegetarian main course was prepared for me each night. I had something different every night and after the first night the soups were all vegetarian, so no complaints from me on the food. I think the all-inclusive option would not have been for us. A bit of a gripe about the free wifi which was only free in the reception area, and for the first week very difficult to get so I ended up paying to use the in-room wifi which could work out expensive if you wanted to use it all the time, so the settees in reception were always full of people on laptops and phones. We used the courtesy bus into Albufeira and the beach several times and found it to fit our needs perfectly. There were several eating places and supermarkets near by, but the area felt nice and relaxed and fairly quiet. There was entertainment every night but not really our cup of tea. It started at 9pm but one night we decided to check it out it had still not started by 9.25pm so we left. A big plus was you could get ITV1 and BBC2 on the tv in the room, so something to watch at night in your rooms.

Room Tip: 2 bed apartments are really big and quieter on the right hand side of the building.

Myself, husband and 13 month old stayed all inclusive in Oct 2012. We were really disappointed. We booked very last minute and thought a 4* all incl must be ok, plus wanted an apartment type room.
Rooms - apartments are a good size, bathrooms could do with an upgrade - the hair dryer is pretty pointless, the hot water runs out quickly too. The dining kitchen is good apart from the bad smell from the drain. The balcony was fine apart from the massive air con extractor fan at floor level (there were sharp corners and rusty bolts - not safe for a toddler). Some nights were a little noisy from the bar at the end of the street, but generally the room was ok.

Hotel - Very basic for a 4*, I wouldn't have classed it at that. Reception is nice. There are no grounds to speak of so getting the baby off to sleep in the pushchair meant either doing a laps around the pool or out on the street. Getting to the larger pool / snack bar meant going up to the 1st floor then back down to the ground floor - bizarre layout! The pool area wasn't very clean and the snacks weren't great, just sandwiches and pizza (salad is extra!) and only served til 5:30 (restaurant doesn't open til 7 so not great for little ones). Drinks are served in plastic cups. The restaurant is nice, the food is really bad though unfortunately. There are baby seats that hang from the tables which are fine if the babies aren't too young or aren't too wriggly - our daughter pushed with her feet and managed to dislodge it, luckily we caught her. A lot of people ate out as the food was so bad - pointless if you have paid for all inc. there's only one small bar on a night and it's where the entertainment is so is really noisy, fine if you don't have young children. There's no play area for young children, there's only a small grass area but it was muddy as they were heavily watered.

Location - It is in a quiet area, there are a few bars and restaurants and supermarkets within a few minutes walk. O sole mio Italian is really nice and does take away. Pine cliffs Piri Piri restaurant is really excellent, more expensive though. The paths are either non existent or really uneven so it can be difficult pushing a pram, I imagine a wheelchair would be a total nightmare. The walk to the beach is around 15 mins, but difficult with a pushchair and not a particularly pleasant walk. There are lots of steps to the beach so you have to carry the pushchair down / up. Sun beds are €6. Falesia is a beautiful beach although the currents are strong. Albufeira is between €8-10, the old town is a nice change, we ate in tres coroas / three crowns - it was lovely, the terrace over looks the sea in a really quiet spot.

Room Tip: We were in 138, above the pool bar. Didn't get any sun on the balcony.

We have just returned from these apartments on all inclusive for 7 nights. The welcoming was very nice from reception. Our apartment was the best we have ever stayed in. Given that we were all inclusive we didn't use the full facilities of the room but there was a large kitchen with full oven, large bathroom with a good shower with a large bedroom with comfy beds and large lounge area with TV that had ITV1 & BBC1 as standard. The rooms were cleaned everyday and the apartments were very clean. All staff were friendly. The food is very basic and limited in variety but what there tasted fine. The fish dishes were the best. The restaurant was nice with plenty of space but a couple of times our meal was spoiled by the noise of children screaming but that isn't the apartments fault. The downside was having all drinks served in plastic glasses. I understand why it is done in the day but not at night and some of the local spirits were not the best tasting (Brandy). The snacks were very poor and I would advise that you don't have them. We ordered a slice of Pizza which was still frozen in the middle. There are 2 pool areas and the smaller pool is better and less noisy.

The apartments are in a quiet area and the beach is about a 20 minute walk away but well worth it. The beach is great and doesn't get busy.

This hotel is pretty basic in every respect. Our quiet room that we requested was so but the little balcony overlooked a car park. The staff were ok but wernt out to please and wow the guests. The biggest disappointment was the food. We booked all inclusive and regretted it on the first meal we ate. It was a limited selection of 'bought in' food, clearly nothing is cooked freshly on site. The only positives I can say about the hotel is that its safe, clean and a very short transfer from the airport. I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone I know.
