“Awesome experience - highlight of holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

My Fiancee and I visited Portugal at the end of June and was recommended this trip by the travel guides in the centre of Albufeira old town who were extremely helpful.

We walked to the harbour from Old town Albufeira which took about 30mins but was lovely as you get great views over the bay.

All the staff at Dolphins Driven were very friendly and welcoming.
We didn't really know what to expect but I think we thought it was probably going to be a gentle boat ride, however it turned out to be a very fast ride crashing over the waves and getting very very wet in the process... so much fun! We grabbed front seats on the boat and I think this added to the experience and am so glad we got them, however if you aren't too keen on the bumps etc towards the back might be slightly better for you.

We went really far out and came across a family of dolphins. They literally swam right next to and underneath the boat. It was beautiful. The crew did a great job of taking us to the right areas but at the same time not going to near and allowing the Dolphins to cross our path rather than us crossing theirs.
We had a digital cam but none of our photos came out - this is really just about the experience itself and I wouldn't recommend taking expensive cams on the boat as you do get thrown around and soaking wet.

We then went back to shore and went in and out the caves. Really interesting and the crew were telling us all about the different towns and coves etc.

Would recommend this trip to anyone looking for a fun exhilarating experience. Not for anyone who gets sea sick or wants a relaxing trip out to sea!

Thank you to the staff there - we shall definitely come back if we visit the area again :)

“Don't miss out!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Far exceeded our expectations and remainded the highlight of our holiday in the Algarve! 6 of us went, aged 10 to 72 and we were all so impressed by the friendliness and knowledge of the crew - and of course the opportunity to see these beautiful creatures in their own environment. Far better than seeing them in a 'tank'!! Many thanks to you all for your enthusiasm and obvious love for what you do, and desire to share with others!!

“Very good trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

We set out in two speed boats, seated in pairs. Be prepared to straddle the seat, but very confortable. We found a pod of about 50 common dolphins quickly, which is helped as the two boats talk to each other, and other dolphin spotting companies to locate the dolphins. When we encountered the dolphins, the boats kept a respectful distance. The guide talked to everybody to make sure they were enjoying themselves, and to give information. We also got a bottle of water for the trip which was needed in the heat!
The trip includes a tour of the caves and grottos which were beautiful, and can be visited at any time of day. The boat also stopped for 10 mins so we could have a cooling swim, but I did get shouted at for grabbing the side of the boat which was a little bit annoying as I am not the strongest swimmer!!

“Fantastic !!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013 via mobile

This has to be one of the best things to do while on your holidays.
We did the lunchtime trip, and although it may be a little on the expensive side, it was truly wonderful and well worth the money.
We went straight out to sea, and for a while I thought we were going to be disappointed as there wasn't a single dolphin insight. But just as I was beginning to think all was lost, then they came.
What a spectacular sight it was, a big pod was swimming towards us, mothers and calf's and one treated us to an aerial display, outstanding !
The caves were a beautiful sight as well. Stunning landscape ?

“Great morning out at sea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

When I looked into this, I did think it was expensive for 2.5 hours, however on the morning (22 August) of our trip my doubts were overturned.
What a great trip for our family, first to see the dolphins which were amazing, playing next to the boat we were in. After 20 or so minutes enjoying the once in a lifetime encounter, we were then taken to the caves West of Amerecao de Pera which were amazing and because we were in fairly small speed boats were able to go in and out of them. Also the coves and beaches along this stretch of coastline were amazing and certainly given us possibilities for future beach hunting. A 10 min swim also rounded off a great morning excursion and would thoroughly recommend this. One point to note, is the trip can be quite rough but exhilarated in these small but fast speed boats, therefore do be aware of the possibility of sea sickness if you suffer from this generally. Certainly a great day to remember for the whole family.
