“perfect little haven of peace and tranquilty”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2009

just back last week from casa pedras and have to say its been the most relaxing holiday we ever had. aldine and antonio dont speak a word of english but we communicated through sign language quite well. they have to be the most welcoming couple we have met on holiday they run this little peace of heaven excellently. there is everything you could need in these apartments a proper fridge freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave sandwich maker and an iron and ironing board. also every english tv channel except channel four if thats what you like. lots of bars and restaurants right on your doorstep. a taxi ride to the strip costs 4.50 euros and 6 euros to the old town but you may not want to leave olhos de agua. when we were leaving aldine came to see us of with a kiss and a hug where else would you get that kind of farewell. hope we can get back there next year.

Recently returned from the Casa Pedras and found these appartments exceeded our expectations. Perfectly positioned a couple of minutes walk to the main road and the bus stop, taxi rank, big supermarket, shops, cafes, small fruit, veg, meat and fish market but far enough away not to be troubled by any road noise, in fact it was a very quiet location. A good size supermarket is opposite the rear of the apartments and there are lots of resturants very locally and more up on the main road and on the road to the beach.

The lovely beach is a five minute walk away via steps or slightly longer via the road. Lovely sandy beach, lots of rock pools. There are two much longer beaches on either side that are within walking distance although one involves extensive steps.

The apartments themselves are very traditionally furnished but have everything necessary to make them a home from home. The kitchen was fully equipped with far more crockery, utensils, pots pans etc than for the occupancy. Toaster, microwave, full size gas cooker, sandwhich toaster and fridge/freezer. Room 5 had two twin bedrooms with more than ample storage. One bedroom has a bathroom equiped with full size bath, with shower attachement, and large balcony overlooking the pool. An additional bathroom is attached to the 2nd bedroom and has a shower cubicle instead of a bath, the 2nd bedroom has its own balcony overlooking the well stocked gardens to the rear. The lounge area has a dining table, bed settee and small television, a good choice of english channels available. This room also has its own balcony to the side of the apartments.

Ample sunbeds around the pool area, the pool itself was a bit on the chilly side not that it posed any problems.

Despite the fact that the owners spoke very little english, language was not a barrier and we could not have wished for a friendlier couple. All in all, these apartments are a little gem which is born out by the majority of guests retuning every year, we certainly will.

Booked a week through First Choice, and loved it. After stopping at massive apartment complexes en route from the airport the Casa Pedras was like a breath of fresh air - a small white block, covered in pink bougainvillia. The friendly owner was waiting, and gave us a guided tour, explaining everything in Portuguses, but with a lovely smile.
We were on the ground floor, across from the small pool, with a terrace covered in flowers. The appartment was traditional, with lots of the owner's personal ornaments, coffee service, etc. It was well equipped, with 10 saucepans in the full size kitchen. Our bedroom was at the back, and very cool.
The small pool was kept spotlessly clean, and was marginally warmer than the sea! There was never more than 1 person in it (usually me) the whole week, and there were sunbeds and umbrellas for every guest. Other guests were friendly, with most revisiting regularly - some for the 16th time.
The beach was a 10 minute walk away down some easy steps, and was small, and shared with local fishermen. Lots of little coves and rocky outcrops. There were signs of massive development, so the resort could change from a sleepy village in the near future.
There was a well-stocked supermarket opposite the apartments, and enough restaurants to keep everyone happy - our favourite was the Azul, on stilts along the beach, with beautiful views.
Albufiera was a short taxi or bus ride away if we needed the bright lights, but we were more and more reluctant to leave our little Portuguese haven as the week went on.

My partner and I have just got back from a weeks' stay at Casa Pedras (31st July 06), our apartment was brilliant a true home from home, we had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 balconys along with a kitchen and lounge area, the decor was a little old fashioned but apart from that we couldn't have wished for anything better, and as there are only 6 apartments we never had to scramble for a sun lounger there was probably only ever at the most 12 people around the pool at any one time and because it was such a small complex everyone got to know everyone else quite quickly. The owners of the property were lovely even though they could hardly speak a work of English but you somehow manged to work out what they were saying to you.
All in all we had a fantastic time and would certainly like to go back there in the future

My stay here was great. Myself and 3 friends stayed for two weeks in the middle of July. Even though the area was very quiet for our age group, (at the time 3 of us were 19 and 1 was 17) it was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of albufeira but close enough to go there most evenings. A taxi only cost 3.5 euro's to the strip and 5 euro's into old town albufeira. The apartments were very clean but we were all shocked when we first arrived at the interior. It was very dated to english standards. The best way to describe them is "traditional portugese". tv was a nightmare. only channels we could receive were thomson travel, a horoscope/spiritual type of channel, which changed to a gameshow at night (which nobody ever won!!) and a welsh channel!!
Antonio and Aldino were lovely. But were very limited on english language, i think they enjoyed having a few young people staying with them(everyone else who was there at the time were 55+) as they were always keen to talk to us! They even waved us off outside from there bedroom window at 6am in the morning!!!! Oh and we stayed in a two bedroom apartment which had two bathrooms! One en suite and the other one, in the room next to 2nd bedroom. Both bedrooms had balconys, main bedroom looking over pool, and third balcony off lounge. I highly recommend these apatments to anyone.

We have just returned from a two week stay at these apartments (Sept 2005). They are excellent. Its a small block of just six apartments, all individual. There's a swimming pool (unheated) with ample sunloungers and parasols. There is a large paved patio area, surrounded by pretty plants and bougainvillea climbing up the front wall and a lovely pink trumpet vine climbing over an archway. There is a barbeque under a pergola off to the side of the building. Apartments are 3 one-bedroom-3 2-bedroom, including a 'penthouse' apartment. The owners, Antonio and Aldina are very welcoming and friendly, altho' their English is limited.
The only negative I would say is that the sitting room furniture could be updated. In our apartment, the bathroom led into the bedroom, thru a curtained archway...there is not a door. It is spotlessly clean and the maid does a thorough job. There is a 'library' of paperbacks to borrow from, plus magazines. Facilities include a toaster, sandwich maker, microwave and fridgefreezer. The apartments would not suit families as children are not catered for..it would suit those aged 40+ who want quiet accommodation, but close to resort amenities. Plenty of restaurants all around, including a couple of English-owned bars. A good beach down a slight hill (the longest route) or a flight of steps just down the road. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday there and would certainly go again. Highly recommended!
