Myself and my partner stayed at the pateo village mid october and unfortunately had some bad weather for half of the holiday. Was plenty to do however in the area to keep us entertained!
The pateo village is very clean and the maid service was excellent. Yes, there were a lot of cats and dogs about but they did not cause a nuisance when we were there and dont bother you unless you call to them.
The hotel pool bar was ok but breakfast was very pricey so i would recommend eating out as there are better breakfasts for cheaper prices. The beer however seemed to be about the same price as anywhere else.
The outdoor pool was freezing so i never ventured in but the indoor pool was on whilst we were there.
Our room was on the first floor and we did find it very noisy hearing everything from the room above us which was annoying at night when you are trying to sleep.
The rooms themselves are huge and we had a balcony at either side of the apartment.
We never went to the evening bar at the hotel but went into the old town every night instead. The walk down to the old town is about 10-15 mins downhill. The walk back is far too hilly so i would recommend a taxi!
The old town is fantastic and far better than the modern strip. I would recommend going vertigo and sir harrys as they made us feel very welcome and the entertainment especially at vertigo was brilliant.

This was the first time we have been to Portugal,We found our rooms to be very clean and tidy, but had to wait until 3pm until we were able to check in this is a rule at Pateo Village, something i think you need to know if your arriving early as we did,a room is available to leave your suitcases and bags in but it is not locked. The maid service was very good with the bedding changed twice and towels every other day. This is self catering and if you like a mug of tea take your own as the cups left for you are very small. The indoor heated pool was not working until our second week but when it was it was great and there was a jacuzzi however no-one paid any attention about the rules of use so many guests were in it for hours thus not allowing the rest of us a turn and the staff never seemed to say anything about it.We used the indoor pool as often there were random dogs swimming in the outdoor pool, also you need to be a cat lover as there are plenty of them around the rooms and they will come in if you leave your balcony door open. The bar is very nice and cosy and they have entertainment several night a week there is also a happy hour between 7-9pm every night. The onsite supermarket was very pricey but there are two more just down the hill, also the on site cafe too was a little pricey.Although this place was great for us and our needs, you just need to be aware That it is quite a walk into town and very very hilly, however a taxi costs about 3.50 euros, but if you need a taxi everyday this soon eats into your holiday money.Having said all this i would go back again,it was not noisy when we were there and we had a ground floor apartment.

Room Tip: If you like to sit out during the day then you need a ground floor apartment as there is no shade on...

Trip was booked through Thompson Holidays (Skytours). I won't comment on the weather (mixed) other than to say it was not something Pateo Apartments were able to control! The Algarve itself and the resort (Albufeirta) were fine and enjoyable and we only really intended using this as a touring base. Just as well! We were initially allocated a ground floor apartment but requested a top floor appartment after reading previous Trip Advisor comments, This proved to be a much better choice! - Appt 305. Initial impression was that the appartment was spacious and pleasant. Apartment was relatively undisturbed and peaceful (Good), and the housekeeping services over the 11 day rental were good. Cleaning Staff were friendly and did their basic floor clean/ linen changing job properly. Despite the language barrier, they proved to be the most helpful staff on site.

The beds in the apartment were awful (really cheap lumpy mattresses) and very uncomfortable and very cheap pillows. Only supplied with sheets and a bedspread. Blankets were only available from reception on request. Surely these could be supplied as nights were cold. Can't speak for the pullout beds - doubling as a settee in the lounge. However the settee wasn't comfortable either. The patio furniture on the terrace had 2 newish chairs, but the rest of it was clearly grubby and sun damaged and very old. Bathroom was pleasant except for badly damaged door frame (someone had clearly kicked the door in) which had been very badly repaired with plastic wood (Falling out).

The supposedly well equipped kitchenette was supplied with only very basic equipment and an archaic 4 ring electric cooker (dirty oven) the rings of which seemed either to be very hot or off, and just enough plates/bowls/cups for four occupants. No other dishes/ovenware of any sort and very limited kitchen equipment. The microwave, kettle and toaster were all OK. The fridge was broken (freezer compartment hanging off with screws missing and a missing door), and no salad box (missing). Fridge always froze fruit/salads despite them being sealed up. After much complaining, 2 defrosts, and the maintenance man "fixing it" by turning it to minimum setting so it would barely chill anything but still froze the salad, they replaced it with an even older and damaged fridge with broken inner walls and black mould and exactly the same problem - caused by the missing freezer compartment door. Fridge design/ technology is clearly too difficult a concept . Discussed this with Thompson rep. No further improvements took place. We were told to be grateful for what we had, as other appartments were even worse equipped! Gave up before it ruined the holiday and stopped trying to keep food in it.

Apartment curtain linings were in the final stages of disintegration and were very dirty particularly in the lounge which were covered in black mildew stains..

The pool area was pleasant enough although we did not use the pool. It was rather chilly and the gulls swimming in it weren't particularly encouraging. Stray dogs and cats (which have apparently teamed up together) an apparently widespread Portugese problem don't exactly make the place any more attractive and seem to be tolerated everywhere. This is not helped by guests who think it is a good idea to encourage, pet and even feed them. While they do not appear to be a direct threat, they are dirty and use the pools for drinking at least. Can't comment on the bar/snack bar as we did not use them as we were out most days or self catered. The entertainment (Karaoke) did not appeal but did not disturb us, unlike the parrot in a neighbour's garden which when encouraged by its inconsiderate owners wolf whistled or whistled the first stanza of "Hitler has only got one ball" incessantly and put one longingly in mind of the Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch.

Reception staff were at best uninterested and not helpful or welcoming.

Despite being modestly priced, We did not consider this stay to be good value, and would not stop here again.

Room Tip: 2nd floor apartments have a large private terrace. You will need to ask for one though!

Just had a week at Pateo village first impressions were nice, clean, tidy and spacious rooms a little far out from the old town but a nice walk down (when not raining)

Downside was we on the first floor and found the noise from the apartments next to, below and above terrible. the noise was from people dragging furniture (at all hours) doors slamming, shouting, and a family clearly unable to handle their drink waking the entire block at 4am with disgusting language and arguments no consideration to others!

Ask for a top floor apartment if possible these appear to be the best and quietest.

Due to the weather we didnt get to use the pool and were told the indoor pool wouldnt be heated till november but turned out they had turned it on due to the weather.

We may return one day but not unless we could get a top floor apartment

I stayed here and when we arrived and reached the reception I was a bit worried, but once I got to our little apartment I was very pleased! It was very clean, and had very nice views from the balcony! We used the indoor pool a couple of times, which was alright, but could maybe do with updating! We did not use the bar as we have children and after we had been out and about most days they tended to be tired in the evenings, so we just bought a few beers for the evenings and had those in the rooms!
