“Clean and basic accomodation”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

I've been here before a number of times (three times now). Its a very basic, clean (and apparently recently renovated) hotel. The rooms I've had have all been twin-bed, with working A/C and a decent fridge that does actually work (I've been to some places where the fridge is so small and ineffective, it was not worth having). Decent showers too and ample hot water (nothing worse than trying to shower after a hot, sweaty day out under a drip of water).

The hotel is located a very short walk to the Old Town - but be warned, it's on a hill and the trek back uphill can be an effort if you're not so fit or nimble.

I'd have no issues returning.

Just returned Oct 2012 from a week's holiday in this great little hotel. Didn't pay a lot but were very pleased with our accomodation here. Superbly situated in the 'Old Town' of Albufeira, a few minutes walk down to the square where there is an endless choice of bars, clubs & restaurants, many shops & market stalls to browse round, and only 3 minute walk down the hill to the beautiful 'Fisherman's beach'. We requested (& got) a room overlooking the pool, (yes, they had read my booking request !). Room good, cleaned daily, new towels daily, comfortable bed (most unusual abroad!). Bathroom with bath, shower & bidet. Also had a TV, air-con, kettle, fridge, crockery etc... which is all included in the price. The pool area is quite small, limited sun-beds (which may be a problem in the summertime) but when you are so close to the beach it seemed pointless to sit round a pool anyway. Nice to find out there are 2 roof terraces, on floors 4 & 5 with sun loungers where you can get the sun all day & the view from there is superb of Albufeira. There is a church right next to the hotel which has a bell tower & the clock chimes the hour (& half hours!) 24 hours a day, so I guess some people would moan about that, but it didn't bother us at all, suggest you have a few beers at night then you won't hear it anyway!! We went B&B, nothing fancy for breakfast, the usual continental variety, rolls, toast, ham, cheese, jams etc... unlimited fresh juices, fruit, tea, coffee etc... but perfectly adequate & lovely to sit on the tables outside to eat it. Overall, we had a lovely stay & certainly would return early or late season to this beautiful town & this conveniently located hotel. For a good evening out call into 'Sir Harry's' bar on the square, run by the ex-mayor of Albufeira, made to feel very welcome there & there is entertainment on every night. Also very handy is a very clean kebab shop, open till the small hours, a well spent 4 euro's in our opinion at 2am (& no Delhi-Belly the next day either!!) If your ideal holiday is relaxing during the day & eating & drinking at night with no need for a taxi, just a short wobble up the hill - this place is ideal. Enjoy - we did!

Room Tip: Request a 'pool view' when booking, because these rooms have a lovely view over the Old Town...

Just returned from Vila Recife, what can i say ? fantastic little hotel, situated convient for the beach, town square, all within a few minutes walk, rooms/Hotel kept spotless, maid service & clean towels daily, Breakfast is a little bit basic but plentiful, a great budget priced Hotel with all the trappings of a more expensive property, only downside is the lower floors at the back of the property look onto cliffside & all the balconys are on the small side, many thanks for an exellent holiday & look foward to returning again in the future

Second visit 7th to 12 oct12. Visited first time with girls. Just taken my husband. He loved it. Hotel is great for the price you pay, we stayed room only, but room has a fridge, cups and cutlery. This hotel is at the top of a hill , but it's all quite hilly. About a 4 minute walk down to beach which is very clean and tidy, with shower and loos, for 2 sunbeds and a brollies it's 14.50 euro. Hotel is close to bars and restaurants. Excellent holiday.

Room Tip: We stayed in room114 with a pool view and view into the square

Just arrived home from on Oct 2012 stay in the Vila Recife and we are very pleased to say this is a great little hotel. We were surprised to find the room contained a fridge, microwave, cutlery and crockery. The shower was powerful and there was always plenty of hot water available, air conditioning in the room was also free. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the rooms are kept lovely and clean with fresh towels daily. The swimming pool is small and the sun is limited from 1pm but its only a 5 minute walk to the beautiful beach, 2 loungers with an umbrella will cost you €14.50 a day.
The breakfast is adequate but you can always get a cooked breakfast from Eddy's bar across the road for €4.50 which includes a coffee. If you need Wifi there are plenty of bars available with free access when you buy a drink the closest being Merlins Bar directly opposite the hotel. This hotel is ideally located to the old town square, with endless restaurants and bars.
We would be happy to return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms 52-62 have a pool balcony it's tiny but gives easy access to the pool area.

We booked this hotel despite some negative reviews particularly about the pool and seagulls, firstly the hotel is spotlessly clean the rooms may be basic but had everything we needed, towels changed daily, staff accomodating!
It is perfectly situated although on a hill, but this did not bother us, so close to all the fab ammenities that the old town has to offer, with its countless restaurants and bars, the pool was clean and we did see seagulls around but the sunbeds and pool were not affected by them as some have previously suggested!
All in all a gem of a hotel and we would most definately stay there again!
There is a great little bar called "the steps" literally down the hill, they have a live singer who is amazing well worth a visit, we ate out every evening in different restaurants all of which were excellent, the grill 54 just over the road has a lovely sea view and well worth a visit.
The local beach is a stones throw away, spotlessly clean and the sea was warm, Gale is well worth a visit and is only about 10 mins away as is sao raphael beach another stunning beach to visit, we actually walked there it took about 30mins but well worth it!
A fab destination and great place to stay!

Room Tip: we stayed in rooms 54 and 60 both on the 3rd floor over looking the pool, would definately recommend...
